Title: It really does Art
Review: I had a 3-in-one machine and knew it was time to upgrade when I saw the Delonghi Dedica Arte. Even though the Delonghi doesn't have a grinder, I bought one that didn't break the bank and the coffee is A1. First things first, the ease of use is truly there. It is straightforward to use. The steam wand has a great feel and I always steam twice after the milk for a cleaner wand. Other than the feel, the pressure is strong! Obviously, not to the level of a coffee shop machine but this is for the home and it is more than enough power. It is capable of pulling great-looking latte art. I am no barista, but even with my rookie skills, I can create art without it looking like polyps. The portafilter it comes with is good but I had to go with a bottomless. In my opinion, shots taste and look better with the bottomless portafilter. In my past machine, shots tasted way too bitter and no cream ever came from it. I can taste sweetness and body in my coffee. There is one minor problem I have with it, but I think I'm nitpicking. When I pull the shot and steam my milk, If I were to do another latte or cappuccino, I have to lower the temperature of the machine. This is done by releasing water through the steam wand, and it tends to be annoying when you have guests over. It takes about 1 to 2 minutes extra until you can pull another shot. Other than that, this machine is very very good and puts a smile on my face every morning.

Title: Delicious Coffee Easy to Use
Review: One of the weird results of lockdown and working from home turned me from a once in a blue moon coffee drinker into a daily coffee drinker. I first used my Bialetti Mukka Express and was fine with my daily latte. I wanted to upgrade to a countertop espresso machine. I looked, looked, and looked not able to pull the trigger on an upgrade. Part of my issue was wondering whether the investment was worth it. I lusted for the Bambino or Bambino Plus because I needed something with a small footprint, but, the price stopped me.The De’Longhi Dedica line of machines looked attractive. Then came the latest, the Arte and available as a monthly payment. This seemed attractive just in case I did not like the machine. So, I pulled the trigger at long last.Setting up the machine was simple enough. Making a nice coffee drink, also easy to use. The box contains a really nice tamper, 3 pressurized baskets. Steaming and frothing milk, you need a pitcher, not included (happily I had one). It took me a few days to adjust the heat of the water, the default on the machine was low. Once I adjusted that, made all the difference.I did order a flat bottomed non-pressurized portafilter and am happy with it. It is not an option with the box contents. Two months in, I love this machine. It ticked all the boxes for me, makes a nice latte/cappucino, easy to use, small footprint, easy to clean/descale. I am very pleased with it.

Title: Terrible coffee machine! Don’t buy it!
Review: Terrible coffee machine! Don’t buy it!I bought it about 1.5 months ago and am very disappointed with this purchase. The milk frother stopped working. The steam is now very weak, and while heating the milk, the steam weakens until it stops completely. This means the milk stays unheated, and there’s no more steam. It’s impossible to froth milk properly for making lattes or cappuccinos. At first, I thought it was because the frother was clogged and needed cleaning. I bought the Delonghi-recommended cleaner, followed the cleaning instructions twice, but nothing changed. If company representatives read this message, I would like to return your coffee machine. It worked for just over a month and then broke. The frother doesn’t produce steam.

Title: Takes practice
Review: Update:I ordered some accessories from DeLonghi, including their “signature” ground espresso blend so I could get a better sense of their idea of a perfect shot. I also experimented with non-dairy milks (also A2 milk which was gross btw). I’m now using Califia Almond “Barista Blend” with a drop of Pacific Foods hemp milk for added body.Once my accessories arrived, my drink quality dialed up. The small steaming carafe is the perfect size for my single cappuccino. I didn’t know they came that small!Full disclosure: prior to having a proper steaming carafe, I’d been using a small cup from my Japanese tea set to steam milk in (i know…) Anyway, I’m using slightly more milk now but it’s totally worth it.I’m still perfecting my espresso shot: The signature ground tends me an over-extracted shot (I have found I can mitigate by using slightly less).Today, I went back to ESE pod and it wasn’t half bad—I don’t know if it’s just that I can see the thin line of crema better in my new glass cups or what, but at any rate, it’s certainly as good a result as I was getting with ESE pods in my previous machine.I still find the steam function to be a bit finicky: The unit often switches from steam back to cooling for a shot before I’m ready. The steam pressure and output also seems highly variable. That said, after two weeks of adjusting to the new machine, I’ve finally achieved the desired result (see photo) and have decided to keep it.TLDR;Decent machine for a frothy espresso drink but be sure to buy a proper steaming carafe!~~~~~~~~^^UPDATED ^^~~~~~~~~~~~I promise to update this review as I tweak my espresso game but, so far, not so good!! This was an “upgrade” from my previous DeLonghi EC155 15 Bar Espresso and Cappuccino Machine which is a surprisingly good little machine for the money (I probably could have kept that one going with a proper descaling but I reckon it served me up at least 1000 macchiatos so I’d got my money’s worth.) I was tired of wiping the leaking water off the counter with that model, plus I thought it would be healthier to have a stainless steel portafilter vs aluminum.Anyway, woke up this morning with high expectations of a smooth, flavorful cappuccino which were quickly dashed…Background: I used to order and grind my own beans (Kona) but have simplified my life in recent years and have been using ESE pods (after a brief stint with Illy capsules). This unit comes with a special pod filter which is super neato but so far (3 tries) I’m getting watery under extracted shots. I’ve tried two different ESE pod brands so far this morning. The bigger disappointment for me compared to my previous model is the steam function: I am allergic to dairy. I also prefer macchiato to latte (that’s what turned me off from buying the Breville Bambino Plus because the minimal milk required is way more than I want or need). The afore mentioned De’Longhi gave me perfect control over steaming about 1.5 ounces of Pacific Brands Original Almond Milk in a small cup. The Dedica only has one steam setting (on or off) and doesn’t allow me to adjust the steam pressure like the old model did. So, foamless and watery shots is all I got today :(I’m thinking I’ll be forced to buy another grinder and start learning how to dose my own shot which is a project I really wasn’t trying to sign up for right now. On top of that, now I’ll have to experiment to find a new milk (maybe I’ll go back to hemp milk or see how far I’d have to drive for some A2 milk around here). Also, another review mentioned the “bear hug” to lock and unlock the portafilter: that is real: I already learned to make sure the unit is off while locking the portafilter in place to avoid inadvertently pushing the brew button. On the plus side, it looks really pretty and has a much more quality/professional look on my counter as compared to the cheaper model. (I already foresee a lot more polishing and wiping to keep that stainless spotless).

Title: Perfect for home espresso
Review: I did a lot of reading before purchasing this espresso machine. I am glad I chose thing one. It has a small footprint on my counter and makes great espresso. It is very easy to use too.The only issue I have had was if the grounds are ground too fine it will clog the portafilter which can be very frustrating. It has caused me to throw away an entire bag of coffee before because of it.

Review: I really love this espresso machine. It's nice and compact, not taking too much room on my counter. The espresso it produces is quite nice, although my old Breville Cafe Roma gave better creme. I will continue to try different beans and grind sizes to get better creme. The portafilter is tight to engage at first, but I think mine is breaking in now, so it is a little easier. People have complained about it being tippy because it is so light, when engaging the portafilter, but some trial and error and I figured out the best way to hold it is on the machine just above where you put the portafilter in when you twist it.After some practice I have worked out how to get nice foam for my lattes. I'm really happy with it. The machine isn't overly loud. The steaming for lattes is much quieter than my old Cafe Roma which sounded like dying banshees. I don't feel so guilty about using it when other members of the family are sleeping in the morning. People complaining about it not producing froth should watch some Youtube videos and keep trying. You will get it, and the froth will happen. Now I just have to figure out how to make art. Despite the lack of art on my lattes they still taste awesome, and the texture is really nice as well. Another thing Is full fat milk makes nicer froth, and add your syrups to your cup and not the milk.An americano has become part of my morning routine. I like to put the hot water in my cup first and pull the espresso shot on top. It leaves the creme more intact. Speaking of straight into the cup, it is nice to be able to remove the catch tray and fit a regular sized cup under the portafilter, so no need to transfer espresso shots to other cups. The baskets that comes with it comes apart for cleaning. I didn't see how often it is recommended that you take apart the baskets, but I would recommend once a day. I read other reviews that say after a few uses that their machines wouldn't pull a shot. I had this same issue, but I noticed that when I took apart the basket, it had dried espresso covering the little hole. Since then, I take it apart after I use it and either rinse or wash it off. I use a spoon to grip the little rubber tab to help it pull apart easier.I found that the double shot was too small, only about an ounce of fluid and I read it should be 2 ounces. I was able to easily program the machine to pull a longer shot.I really do love this machine and recommend it to those looking for an affordable espresso machine. Apparently you can buy a bottomless portafilter to upgrade and fine tune your espresso experience. I may one day do this.Edit to add that I tried grinding my beans slightly finer ans now have better creme. The Ethical Beans, Sweet Espresso are delicious and so smooth tasting.
