The highly anticipated third novel in the award-winning Ellery Hathaway mystery series.

FBI agent Reed Markham is haunted by one painful unsolved mystery: who murdered his mother? Camilla was brutally stabbed to death more than forty years ago while baby Reed lay in his crib mere steps away. The trail went so cold that the Las Vegas Police Department has given up hope of solving the case. But then a shattering family secret changes everything Reed knows about his origins, his murdered mother, and his powerful adoptive father, state senator Angus Markham. Now Reed has to wonder if his mother's killer is uncomfortably close to home.

Unable to trust his family with the details of his personal investigation, Reed enlists his friend, suspended cop Ellery Hathaway, to join his quest in Vegas. Ellery has experience with both troubled families and diabolical murderers, having narrowly escaped from each of them. She's eager to skip town, too, because her own father, who abandoned her years ago, is suddenly desperate to get back in contact. He also has a secret that could change her life forever, if Ellery will let him close enough to hear it.

Far from home and relying only on each other, Reed and Ellery discover young Camilla had snared the attention of dangerous men, any of whom might have wanted to shut her up for good. They start tracing his twisted family history, knowing the path leads back to a vicious killer—one who has been hiding in plain sight for forty years and isn't about to give up now.

Title: The best series I have ever read
Review: I recommend the Ellery Hathaway series to anyone that asks. I read book 4 first, bought books 1-3, read book 1 then read book 5 as soon as I got a copy. Turns out I never read books 2 or 3! Of course as soon as I figured this out I decided I had to read them. Open my Kindle, start reading, and come to find out it's book 3! So obviously, you don't have to read them in order, but I recommend you do, because relationships change and Ellery really grows over the course of the series. So now I have to read book 2, then I think I’ll binge the whole series, this time in order! Anyway, book 3 is All The Best Lies. Can I love each book in this series any more? The writing and storytelling is fantastic as usual. Ellery and Reed are strong characters and I like how their friendship keeps deepening. This time, we learn more about Reed and his family, as Reed sets out to find his mother's killer. Meanwhile, as Ellery is helping him, she learns more about her family too. This is the best series I have ever read, so if you haven’t read it yet, do yourself a favor and start it today!

Title: Keeps you on your toes!
Review: All the Best Lies is the third installment in the Ellery Hathaway series and it was certainly worth the wait to dive into a new case with Officer Ellery Hathaway and FBI Agent Reed Markham.FBI Agent Reed Markham is going to take on a case that will drudge up history that there are those who would like to stay that way. The murder of his birth mother Camilla. He’s always known that he was adopted into a loving family and that his mother died the way she did, but the case has been cold for a long time and now wants answers. He enlists the help of Ellery Hathaway once again, but with her suspension from the police force might make things a little more difficult but of course that is no bother to her, she has her own ways of doing things. And there is nothing that is going to stop Reed from finding out what happened all those years ago, even if it means stirring up trouble for his family. So, off to Las Vegas they go!The story picks shortly after the last case that Reed and Ellery worked on together but in this installment we get to learn more about Reed and his family and the case of his mothers murder that has haunted him for years and the truths that he recently uncovered makes him question some things in his life. He need answers but without the backing and help from the FBI is going to make things harder for him and Ellery. Not only that Reed and Ellery have this chemistry between them that is palpable at times but with everything going on it keeps getting pushed aside for the case at hand.I have enjoyed both Ellery and Reed and their complicated relationship from both previous books and I enjoyed them just the same this time around. Ellery is a tortured soul. She’s been through so much but somehow she remains strong for those around her and hides her self doubt and worries. Reed made a name for himself while working on a case that involved Ellery which is what brought them together. He seems to be a good guy. He loves his family, his job and he seems to genuinely care for Ellery. And I liked watching these two work on this case together. They make a great pair. What lies ahead though is a story that is filled with tension, lies and truths revealed for both Reed and for Ellery. Her long lost father is back and this just stirs up emotions for her. Reed has to face some truths that can possibly destroy the life he thinks he’s always had. And it all of it kept me on the edge of seat to find out how it all ends. Plus, I had to know what happens between Reed and Ellery. Would they finally give in or not?! Would Reed finally find out what happened to Camilla? The story was full of dangerous and suspenseful moments leading up to a shocking conclusion and it was pretty fantastic. While this is the third installment in the series it isn’t necessary to have read the first two books before picking this one up as if does give some backstory for both Ellery and Reed but I would certainly recommend reading them because it give the whole picture of how these two two met in the first place. And they were really good! All the Best Lies is a suspenseful and addictive mystery with two characters that will have you rooting for them all the way and I am hoping that there will more books in the series. Finger crossed…

Title: What a read! With non-stop suspense and riveting characters.
Review: If you’ve read Book one and two then this one will have you biting nails from the suspense and sighing with satisfaction.Ellery uses her detective skills to help the FBI agent who rescued her. Watching her struggle to reinvent and accept herself is a poignant experience. This tale peels back some of the sorrowful history that haunts Ellery and the twisty tale turns constantly with terrifying or delightful surprises. Here are characters we can believe in, the trauma of terror that never really goes away and secrets that creep out from their graves. A page turner that kept me up till Three AM and I loved each minute. Can’t wait to read book Four!

Title: Put This On Your List
Review: Seriously, if you are looking for a new mystery series, this is it. The bad news is that it helps if you have read her first two books; the good news is that you've got a lot of great reading ahead. The team of Ellery and Reed are sexy, the writing is so darn smart and elegant. There were twists and turns to keep the plot humming along. I'm a sucker for a story with a dog, and the fact that Speed Bump the Basset hound has a role certainly influenced me. She writes dog well too! I can't wait for book 4. Do yourself a favor and load up books 1-3. Brava Joanna Schaffhausen!

Title: Edge of your seat mystery
Review: Another great installment of the Reed and Ellery saga. In this one we get a more personal glimpse of both of their lives and their family secrets, and of course plenty of intrigue, twists and turns. I love the imagery in this, Las Vegas is described perfectly I felt like I was there. Very enjoyable, would definitely recommend, and can't wait for the next one!!

Title: Finally!
Review: This series is excellent but I have gotten spoiled by the last series I read. This author either isn't capable or won't take the time to.make her investigations believeable. She uses things to advance her plot when they are not realistic. For example, having the main character make copies of a murder book when, to avoid getting caught, she could have taken pictures with her phone. Or having the character break into a house to get items with DNA when they would have already had it! And thank God they finally had sex. The bisexual tension was getting ridiculous. Also the character is supposed to have low self esteem but then is capable of a level of intimacy most people could never achieve.
