‘WOW!! Just wow!!... mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, gripping… Once you pick up the book you just can’t put it down… My jaw was locked open… Never did I imagine that ending.’ Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You can always trust your closest friends. Can’t you?
This trip was a chance to reconnect away from our busy lives. The five of us used to be so close—going right back to our college days, when we shared a rickety house and all our favorite clothes, as well as every high and low of our lives—but that was then. Now, the thought of three days in a small cabin far from anywhere, surrounded only by water and trees, with my four oldest friends makes my stomach sink and my hands sweat. Because if they knew what I’d done—the betrayals I’ve committed—they’d never forgive me. And neither would you.
The straight-A student, the sports star with a bright future ahead of her, the sheltered girl who blossomed away from her family and the hippie child who was going to save the world. Their lives have turned out so differently to how we pictured all those years ago. I try not to think about why.
But then danger strikes, and too late I discover I’m not the only one keeping secrets. And I wonder: who will go furthest to keep the truth hidden?
Gripping, addictive and totally unputdownable, Her Best Friend’s Lie will have you reading late into the night. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, The Woman in the Window and Big Little Lies.
Readers can’t get enough of Her Best Friend’s Lie:

Title: Entertaining Mystery
Review: I have a weakness for and-then-there-where-none type mysteries. Take a group of people, put them in an isolated location, and start picking them off one by one. Even better when that group is reuniting after years apart. In this case, we have five college roommates vacationing together almost twenty years laterâafter marriages, children, and careers have taken them in different directions. The girls decide to stay at a secluded cabin by a lakeâoff the grid but with enough comfort to appeal. Or so advertisements promise.Unfortunately, when they arrive, the cabin looks like itâs held together by spit and the landlord seems like a fugitive from Americaâs Most Wanted. To add to the creepy atmosphere, a counselor died at a summer camp across the lakeânow shut down¬âunder suspicious circumstances.Within a matter of time, one of the ladies meets with a foul end and another suffers an injury that affects her mobility. Shortly after, another is killed. The tone quickly moves to hair-raising as the danger ramps up, and the isolation turns ominous. There is no cell phone service, the girlsâ van is damaged, itâs a hike of twelve miles or more to reach a road, and the landlord and his equally frightening girlfriend become menacing. Did I mention a storm crops up at the most inopportune time?As in most novels like this, there are plenty of underlying secrets among the main playersâinsecurities, buried grudges, and a surprise or two for the reader. Although I did decipher the killer before the end, the author made me doubt myself more than once and had me waffling among three characters as suspects. Some of the characters appealed more than others. One who really stood out was KaitlynâI liked her more than the MCâbut all had their moments in the spotlight. The last line in the novel was a jaw-dropper, something I never saw coming. Recommended for readers who enjoy mysteries and reunion stories.

Title: Gripping Tale
Review: This was my first Laura Wolfe book and I am a fan! There was good character development, just enough back story and of course suspense. The only downside was the ending was too abrupt and left too many questions on what would happen. A glimpse into the future would have been nice. All in all, I say read it! I'm off to look at another Laura Wolfe novel. Enjoy your read!

Review: I hope I never go on a weekend getaway like this one! The Lake House is a true, fast-paced thriller with so many twists and turns. I definitely didnât see that final twist coming! I found the theme of false friendship intriguing and the characters to be well-developed This is the second book Iâve read by this author and will look for more.

Title: Disappointed
Review: It was an exciting book but what ruined it was the non ending ending..this book would have been sensational if it continued on and not leaving the reader stuck with the sudden ending..

Title: The Perfect Getaway?
Review: After reading Laura Wolfeâs, Two Widows, earlier this year, I knew I wanted to read more of her books. The Lake House is so far my favorite.Five college friends plan a long weekend to celebrate turning forty at a secluded cabin near a lake. Sounds like a perfect getaway, right?Wrong. When they arrive, the cabin does not look like it did in the advertisements, or as Wolfe described it, âlooked like a long-lost sibling whoâd fallen on hard times and lived a much more difficult life.âTo make matters worse, the landlord doesnât appear to be the type of person youâd want to meet in a dark alley. They learn a nearby summer retreat for wayward youths closed after the death of a staff member under âsuspicious circumstance.âBut the women decide to stay and make the best of it.Then the unthinkable happens. One friend is strangled to death. Was the creepy landlord responsible? Or someone else? Could it be one of them? When a second friend is also killed, the remaining three try to find a way out of the place. They have no cell phone service, the minivan they arrived in has two flat tires, and one woman has a severely sprained ankle. The author weaved in enough plot twists to keep me guessing the killerâs identity. And though I figured it out before the end, I was on the edge of my seat hoping the murderer wouldnât strike a third time.

Title: Twisty whydunit
Review: For me, what makes her writing unusually good is not just her careful, often poetic, prose but her character development. Her stories are not always the classic whodunits. I would call them more driven as a whydunit and howdunit types of stories
