Love books? The Bordeaux Book Club is seeking new members!
When Leah and her husband moved to France, it was with the dream of becoming self-sufficient. But in truth, it’s not the ‘good life’ she’d imagined, as three hours of digging barely yield a single straggly carrot. Worse, her teenage daughter is acting up, and her husband seems to find every strange excuse under the hot French sun to disappear.
So when her friend entreats her to join the new bookclub she’s forming, Leah decides it’s something she will do for herself. The chance to make new friends, to drink a few glasses of wine, and to escape into stories that take her miles away from the life she’d thought would be her own happy-ever-after.
But the book club is a strange group of misfits. There’s prickly Grace, who lives alone and seems to know everybody and like no-one. Buttoned-up Monica, who says her husband is away and appears to be parenting her baby all alone. Handsome builder George, who has barely read a book before. And Alfie – who is a full two decades younger than everyone else, and is hiding a devastating secret…
As the stories they read begin to bring the new friends closer together, Leah is about to discover that happy-ever-afters don’t always look how you expect them to…
A gorgeously escapist read from the bestselling author of A Year at the French Farmhouse, perfect for fans of Veronica Henry, Jo Thomas and Fiona Valpy.

‘Wonderfully warm and enchanting, The Bordeaux Book Club immerses the reader in two tantalizing worlds: the book club that turns into something much more, and the dream of “let's-buy-a-farmhouse-in-France”… With empathy, insight, and humour, The Bordeaux Book Club will delight readers seeking their own escape and meaningful camaraderie over the joys of literature, laughter, and love’ Natalie Jenner
‘A gorgeous heart-warming story about the importance of friends, whether old and new, in helping you through the twists and turns in life’s journey. An emotional but uplifting read’ Jessica Redland
‘Like a cold glass of Chablis on a hot summer’s day, this lovely bookish story will refresh and restore you with its quirky mix of characters and lush French setting’ Beth Morrey

'As delightful as it is moving – a true gem of a novel... enchanting, wise and wonderfully uplifting' Isabelle Broom
'Uplifting, feel-good and hilarious... for anyone who has ever had their heart broken. This is escapism at its best. Every page felt like I was on holiday with my best friends. Gillian has done it again!' Tim Ewins

Title: A warm blanket of a book
Review: While it was a slower start, it became like a cozy friend as I was pulled into the lives of the 5 characters. Harvey did a wonderful job of slowly unspooling the story so that you got to know each character a little at a time as well as fit a feel for the various facets of their story. It was as comforting as a blanket and cup of tea at the end of the day. There was wisdom as well as thought provoking conversation amongst the book club. Well worth the read.

Title: OKâ¦..now I want to have a Bookclub!
Review: I donât understand how I have lived this long and have not been part of this lovely idea, of meeting with others, to discuss books.Your characters were so very real, and like THEY discovered, I found yet more proof that we are wired to Love each otherâ¦.that Humans thriveâ¦.being Kind and Thoughtful and Caring. At this particular time in our history, remembering we are all connected is Priceless !!Thank You

Title: Great book but..
Review: Love this book, we started it for our first book club read. Couple downfalls would be that the printers who printed this book made the page to close so itâs hard to open the book and read what the book says without feeling like your going to tear apart the pages. Also there are multiple of words in the book like in the picture I took. Otherwise itâs a great read and the author really keeps pulling you in.

Title: Nice, slow story about friendship
Review: Sweet story with decent character development and an interesting setting. Doesn't try to be something it's not. There could easily be a book about Grace alone.

Review: I liked this book, it kept me wanting to read the next chapter instead of going to sleep! The characters were all likeable but a second book with them all in would be good to develop them even more. It was heartwarming and I would recommend it as a nice, uncomplicated book to read

Review: An enjoyable, different book, with good character development, and written in an easily readable style. Very good synopsis of the developing relationships among a group of disparate strangers with the central theme of a monthly book club meeting holding it all together.I will be seeking other books by this author
