Title: Simple, no-nonsense and useful
Review: The first thing about these radios, which is the most obvious difference from others, is the lack of a volume knob. I have to admit that I had to get used this difference, but once I did, it worked well. The controls were not super-intuitive. I did have to take a close look at the instructions to learn all the controls/features and how to make them work. Once I got everything figured out, it all made sense and was super simple. These radios have most of the features and capabilities as other FRS radios. All of the buttons have more than one function. The power button not only turns the radio on/off with a long press, it also switches between channel selection, CTCSS selection, VOX, call tones, key tone, and roger beep. The arrow up and down buttons can activate the scan function and âmonitorâ function (squelch disable) respectively with more long presses on each. Then, the flashlight button also doubles as a weather band selector as well, again, with a long press. Finally, the PTT, or push-to-talk, button obviously activates the transmitter but a quick press also deactivates the weather band when it has been selected. The display shows a lot of information. It shows the status of selected channels and CTCSS codes, volume level, power level, VOX, and transmitter activation. The flashlight is handier than expected as well. I was at a friends house the other day and was helping him carry some feed to his chickens after sundown. I did not have my phone or a flashlight on me at the time but I did have a radio on my belt with a flashlight that saved me a trip back to the vehicle. Finally, behind the plug style cover on the opposite side from the PTT button conceals the USB C charging port and the earpiece jack. The 1/8â port, according to the instructions is used for a PTT mic as well as audio. The belt clip and back cover is removable, which exposes the battery inside.All-in-all, these radios are handy with a bunch of features.

Title: I had low expectations -was pleasantly surprised: these are just fine, WORK GR8 & price is a bargain
Review: given the low price and the text of the listing, my expectations were fairly low for these walkie-talkies. my concern was that they would have more of a toy quality, and not work all that great. well, it turned out that they are as good as any i've ever experiended, and by no means a toy. they work absolutely great.i donated them to our new temple, which we are in the process of getting ready for its grand opening. these are perfect for what we need, and they're getting used every single day. they work excellently for what we need. it's a pretty large building, and we definitely needed a reasonable way to communicate without running back and forth all the time.i'm surprised how there have been zero issues, other than setting them up. the instructions were probably written by someone who's native language isn't english, as they were confusing and difficult to make out. but luckily the temple caretaker is quite the handyman and knows how to set up just about everything, so we just gave them to him to start up for us.we were already pricing walkie-talkies when these came up on vine, so i grabbed 'em immediately. like i mentioned, the prices we saw were WAY higher than what they're asking for these, so although i'm no expert, i'm assuming these are a genuine bargain.these are usb rechargeable, which i'm not a fan of. i prefer to put in regular batteries, and not have to be bothered with frequent and lengthy charging -but that's how they came. since i'm grateful to have them as a 'gift', i can't complain about not getting my preference. most people prefer charging to batteries, but not me. i don't think they realize how inexpensive batteries actually are and how truly long they actually last --and how expensive charging actually is. maybe they're forgetting that they're actually paying for the electricity to charge them up. my opinion/observation is that either the costs are comparable, or that batteries are actually a cheaper way to go.in any case, they are an excellent value, and in every way, deserve the 5 STAR rating i'm giving them. everyone is quite happy with these. thanks so much!

Title: Decent FRS radios
Review: These are an alternative to the AA/AAA battery operated kids walkie talkies. These use a rechargeable battery and can be charged via the included USB-C cable. This means no more wasting AA/AAA batteries! Honestly these radio feel like those other kids walkie talkies and they function very similar as well. I can't comment on the range as we're only using these walkie talkies around our small (less than 13,000 sq ft) property.A big plus for these walkie talkies are that they can listen to NOAA Weather Alert. Accessing the NOAA Weather Alert was challenging as the instructions were not clear. The radio has a lamp & W/A button. You have to push and hold that button for about 7-8 seconds. Then the radio will cycle or scan through 1-10 for the NOAA channels. You have to hit the PTT button to stop that function and then use the up and down arrow to actually be able to listen to the NOAA channel. If you just let it scan, you will not hear anything and the radio will not pickup any NOAA channel. If you hit the PTT button again, you will return to normal FRS mode. One con is there's no lock button. The manual said to hold the lamp/WA button for 3 seconds. That does nothing and I can't figure out how to enable the lock. I like the lock feature on walkie talkies to prevent the kids from accidentally changing the settings.
