GOOD MORNING AMERICA BOOK CLUB PICK

“Rosie Walsh’s The Love of My Life is my favorite kind of thriller—gripping, heartbreaking and impossible to put down.”—Laura Dave

From the New York Times bestselling author of Ghosted comes a love story wrapped in a mystery: an up-all-night page-turner with a dark secret at its core

I have held you at night for ten years and I didn't even know your name. We have a child together. A dog, a house.

Who are you?

Emma loves her husband Leo and their young daughter Ruby: she’d do anything for them. But almost everything she's told them about herself is a lie.
And she might just have got away with it, if it weren’t for her husband’s job. Leo is an obituary writer; Emma a well-known marine biologist. When she suffers a serious illness, Leo copes by doing what he knows best – researching and writing about his wife’s life. But as he starts to unravel the truth, he discovers the woman he loves doesn’t really exist. Even her name isn’t real.
When the very darkest moments of Emma’s past finally emerge, she must somehow prove to Leo that she really is the woman he always thought she was . . .
But first, she must tell him about the other love of her life.

This book is a true gem that I devoured in just three days, unable to tear myself away from its pages. From the very first chapter, Walsh masterfully weaves a heartbreakingly beautiful tale that will leave readers both breathless and emotionally invested. The intricate plot twists and turns, keeping you guessing until the very last page. The author's ability to create such suspense and maintain it throughout the story is truly commendable. The characters in "The Love of My Life" are incredibly well-developed and relatable. Each one is flawed and complex, adding depth and authenticity to the narrative. One of the standout aspects of this novel is Walsh’s exquisite writing style. Her prose is elegant, yet accessible, effortlessly drawing readers into the story and making it impossible to put down. The pacing is perfect, with a careful balance between heart-pounding action and poignant moments of reflection.I cannot recommend "The Love of My Life" enough. Title: Intriguing plot beautifully written.
Review: A story that rings true. Enough intrigue to keep a psychologist’s diary full. Rather drawn out by the end but full of insight. A pleasure to read even if the end where alls well that ends well is rather contrived.

Title: Missing pages
Review: This story is very good but when I got to page number 150 it skipped to page 215. After page 215 it went back to page 183, but nowhere in this book are the missing pages!

Title: Quick but a little confusing read
Review: I read this in a few days. There were some interesting twists to the plot and what ended up happening was no where on my radar. I had a little trouble following the story, especially in the beginning, but it all made sense by mid way through.

Title: The Love of my Life
Review: A bit confusing in the beginning because you don’t know who is talking or what is going on. However, it is a treasure to read as the story unfolds. Emily could be the girl next door with her unbelievable past. A wonderful story to cherish.

Review: * I have added content warnings for this story at the end of my review, but some are inevitably spoilers so please proceed with caution *Emma and Leo have a seemingly perfect marriage, even though they've been through fertility issues leading to IVF and the birth of their daughter, then a cancer diagnosis for Emma. Leo, a writer of obituaries, has been insistent on preparing one 'just in case' to file away and hopefully not be used until long into the future. But Emma, a marine ecologist, has a secret past. One that begins to merge into her present as her lies are revealed.I really loved this book. The storytelling was compelling and the POVs all worked extremely well to build the suspense. I was hooked almost immediately and really enjoyed hypothesizing the outcomes of several twists and turns. I did ultimately guess the main ones but they were no less impactful. I found both Leo and Emma incredibly likable and authentic, which only made their POVs more emotional. I cried a LOT in the second and third parts. The supporting characters were also well-rounded. There's so much else I would love to say about this story, but almost all of it would spoil the book. I received an eARC plus an advanced copy of the audiobook. I found the narration of both Emma (Imogen Church) and Leo (Theo Solomon) extremely compelling. In particular, those events at university were voiced in an incredibly visceral way, and if you get the opportunity I would highly recommend the audiobook.*Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to leave an honest review*Overall rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Heat Rating: n/aEmotional Rating: 🥰😬💔😭😭💔💓cw: detailed descriptions of mental illness, post-partum depression, bereavement, alcoholism, suicidal ideation, and infertility

Review: Likely to appeal to fans of Linda Green's novels.Rating: 4.0/5 "The Love of My Life" is a well-crafted, hugely enjoyable and emotional family drama.Leo & Emma have been happily married for 10 years and they both dote on their young daughter, Ruby. But their idyllic world has been threatened recently as Emma has been undergoing treatment for cancer. Leo is a professional writer of obituaries and, when he is tasked with pre-writing a stock obituary for his wife, he begins to find out just how little he knows about her life before he met her.Rosie Walsh clearly has a talent for writing this kind of drama. The characters are all true to life and relatable. The dialogue is consistently authentic and natural. The author also has a firm grasp of how to create something that is dramatic without being melodramatic. In addition to the main plotline the author also raises a number of other significant socio-political topics, such as postpartum psychosis, which provide plenty of food for thought. If I were being picky, I might suggest that Part One of this three-part story is a little longer than it needs to be and that it could have been edited down without losing impact, but that really is a minor point. Overall, "The Love of My Life" is still a fine example of a well-written family drama.
