Title: So full of Recipes!
Review: I just got this book today and already made the banana bread. It was HEAVENLY. As someone who is GF for health and Vegan by choice, it's fantastic to find a recipe book with so many dishes I can't wait to try out!

Title: Solid Choice for Special Diets
Review: Living gluten-free is hard enough for most people to try and deal with, taking away meat and dairy leaves even less options, though personally, as a huge bread and pasta lover, gluten is the harder ingredient to cook away. This book does well with both aspects, though I can't quite justify giving it five stars due to some recipes relying on heavy processed food. But this book does offer something for everyone, including a "things kids love" chapter, for those of you with little ones. Most of the recipes, as the title suggests, are comfort food type, but there is a small ethnic section with some interesting selections, as well as some raw recipes.

Title: GF Easy eating
Review: GF Vegan for 3 years. I am always looking for receipes that are familiar to friends/family that don't eat the same way. This book works. Be prepared for good tastes but remember this is cooking, so many receipes require time and ingredients you might have to pick up. I just read through the book, made a list of things I don't keep on hand, purchased them and went to cooking. The veggie pot pie, the stews, and the bread receipes were all hits. I have not made them all. Sure I will. As I cook I learn a lot about cooking GF Vegan that I had not known before.User friendly and delicious.

Title: Yum.
Review: I purchased this book after my son was diagnosed with lyme meningitis. After researching the best diet for his health I found gluten free was the way to go. After having him consume so much fruit and veggies I wanted to make him some comfort food and this book was perfect! We particularly love the mac n cheese recipe...amazing. It's now the only mac n cheese recipe we use.We also use the sauce for nachos. Even if you are not gluten free you will love this book. Mock Tuna sandwich..yum. There are even raw recipes in here that we love...raw pineapple strawberry smoothie pie! Lots of staple recipes and definitely a kid friendly find.

Title: Yummy!
Review: Some VERY yummy recipes in here. Some of the recipes require A LOT of prep and cooking time. That is my only complaint. Then again, we all know that a gluten free vegan diet isn't going to be easy-peasy. That just is what it is! I have 3 children under 4 so it's a challenge for me to find time to prepare a lot of these dishes.

Title: Recommended a GLUTEN Product in the "GLUTEN FREE" FOOD LIST IN BOOK
Review: I bought this book because it's a GLUTEN FREE VEGAN cookbook. On Page 10 beneath the header "THE GLUTEN FREE VEGAN PANTRY: RECOMMENDED FOODS TO STOCK", it lists beneath "Other Dry Ingredients" "Egg replacer, such as Bob's Red Mill's or Ener-G Foods egg replacer." I PURCHASED BOB'S RED MILL EGG REPLACER BECAUSE OF THIS BOOK, and guess what? I didn't read the label carefully. And Guess what? BOB'S RED MILL EGG REPLACER IS MADE WITH GLUTEN AND WHEAT! And guess what? I ATE IT AND USED IT AND BECOME SEVERELY SICK AND HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG. I was vomitting and had severe stomach and intestinal issues for 2 weeks and didn't know why. It's the first "gut and intestinal" issue i've had since been a gluten free vegan. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE AUTHOR AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE OF HER BOOKS AGAIN.... What a huge problem for gluten free vegans when buying this book. If i use any other recipe in this book i need to do my own research about what's in it...Thanks, Susan O'Brien. Please do your research. That's DANGEROUS!

Title: Mixed feelings: good book for beginners, not so much for me
Review: If I could give this book 2 ratings, I would rate it a 3-4 for beginners, and a 1-2 for me personally. Here's why:Though I am not a chef or a professional baker, food intolerances and digestive issues led me to spend much time in the kitchen trying out new recipes and inventing my own. I like being adventurous, but once in a while need a base recipe to inspire me, which is how I ended up with this book. I guess I should have done more research prior to buying it, but I got it on a whim along with another book--"gluten-free, vegan comfort foods" sounded promising, just what I craved in that moment (note to self: don't shop for cookbooks while hungry!). Moreover, books that are both GF and vegan friendly aren't that common, so I figured I'd give it a try. I soon realized that it is really a book designed for people just entering into the GF and vegan world. As for myself, I find that there isn't much in it that gets me excited. There were a few recipes I thought were good: the corn bread is good, the pumpkin pizza crust is interesting, the banana macadamia nut curry is fun and not something I would have thought of on my own, love the lemon lavender flavor combo for the shortbread (anything with lavender is usually good for me), and the chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting are alright. When I look for a cookbook though, I look for recipes that are different, things I wouldn't have thought of trying out, interesting flavor combinations, things that are generally difficult to adapt to the GF and vegan diet. This book has a lot of useless filler recipes in that sense--like bruschetta, guacamole, and salads which are usually naturally GF and vegan... When did salads become considered a "comfort food" anyhow? I wish this book had more baked goods recipes, as I find these are the hardest to adapt to this type of diet. I also like recipe books with pictures. LOTS of pictures. I was a bit disappointed this book had only a handful.Formatting issues: this book is not well formatted for an ebook. I downloaded the Kindle version for my iphone, and found that the recipes are laid out in a very weird way. Alternating, one recipe starts with the ingredients list, and the next starts with the directions and only lists the ingredients in the end. Though in the grand scheme of things this isn't a big deal, this type of inconsistent formatting just makes the process of browsing through recipes confusing and scattered. Also, the conversion charts at the back of the book are a bit of a mess. For an ebook that costs $10, I would have personally expected better formatting. As a side note, the author might want to consider placing the recipes in a slightly more logical order in future editions--having pizza or pie recipes with a crust recipe to follow further on in the book isn't very ebook friendly. So in conclusion: it's a book I would recommend to people starting out on a GF or vegan diet, or people needing a bit of guidance in the kitchen. If you decide to buy it, definitely get the printed version, it'll be easier to work with than the ebook version due to formatting issues. I don't think it's the best book for experienced cooks and bakers--I'll be looking elsewhere for inspiration.

Title:
Review: A very good book, recipes clearly laid out on one or two pages and not 'spilling' over. A lovely wide range to suit all tastes. My one disappointment is that there are only eight photos, and they are clumped together just over half way through the book! It would have been much better for them to actually be with the particular recipe, and interspersed throughout the book.
