Title: Truly French Pastry Made Simple
Review: Visually beautiful and well organized, French Pastry Made Simple, by Molly Wilkinson, breaks down 10 foundational French pastry recipes (pâte sucrée, pâte feuilletée, pâte à choux, ganache, crème pâtissière, crème au citron, meringuée to name a few), then clearly explains and gives examples of how these 10 pillars of French pastry can be combined, reconfigured and reimagined to make over 60 others. It’s everything you need to know to successfully create showstoppers like the mighty croquembouche or a tower of deliciously delicate macarons … and that little jar of leftover lemon curd so good you can eat with a spoon. (Not to mention that both the French and Italian meringue methods are demystified step by step here.)Author Molly Wilkinson’s education at Le Cordon Bleu and countless hours of experience both baking and teaching French pastry are evident here. Her book gives bakers much more than the standard “mix to combine, then bake.” There are historical facts, explanations of French baking terms, and handy reference charts for piping tips, quantities, and whipped “peaks.” This book not only contains gorgeous pictures of featured finished works of art, but also helpful photos and explanations of what texture a batter or meringue should achieve before baking. “Bec d’oiseau” anyone? Bonus: recipes are written with both U.S. and metric measurements. Also included are specific baking notes, storage, and make-ahead instructions. This is a foundational book of French Pastry, written for everyone from the experienced baker to the aspiring pastry chef. It’s a recipe book, yes, but the beautiful pictures and elegant feel of the book quickly transport readers to the pastry shops, fresh fruit and flower markets of Versailles. Highly recommend!

Title: whats the most exciting thing that happened in our house this week?
Review: this morning Molly's new book arrived finally....it is beautifully written and beautiful to look at....and i promise you that the things you bake from it will be beautiful and delicious too. i am not a baker...i have struggled with it all my life...i am impatient and unskilled. but then the pandemic happened ....and how do you get through a catastrophe? its easy ... you stumble on Molly and get to spend some time in France when you are stuck in your own four walls andyou learn to make holiday cookies that are the envy of your hundreds of new instagram friends and then move on to gallettes ( who even knew there was such a thing ) and even macarons in every conceivable flavor. who needs Laduree any more. Molly is just a sweetheart....her laugh is contagious, she truly wants everyone to love baking as much as she does and her recipes work and are manageable even in an small New York City kitchen. do my macarons look like hers - well not yet - but they do taste great and maybe six more classes with her and all the extensive tips in the book and well maybe one day they will. so now it is summer and we are coming out of isolation and we all want our friends around, so now more than ever it is time to get Molly's book and start having dessert parties. it is strawberry season here and so my book is already stained on the fruit pies and berry treats pages. as you can tell by now i am a big fan. what can i say...you need to buy this book. five stars. go get yours now.

Title: FABULOUS, BEAUTIFUL, PRACTICAL — YOU CAN MAKE THESE RECIPES!
Review: This is the book that has gotten me into French baking and cooking. I follow Molly on Instagram and watched her make the molten lava cakes and the chocolate mousse. I've made both in the last 14 days, and they are super easy and fun to make. But the best part? The RAVE comments of all who get to taste the creations. My chocolate mousse came out a little lumpy — distinguishing between light, medium and high meringue peaks is something I need to work on — but by morning the lumps had settled and the flavor wasn't affected one bit. When I served it that evening it was bananas how quiet the table got when the first tastes hit palates.Get this book and don't look back! Vive la Molly!

Title:
Review: I'm one recipe in (Tarte au Citron) and a total fan. I would not say the recipes are simple per se: each involves time and attention, as all good homemade food does. But Molly breaks them down into a series of steps so precise, and so well explained, that you really can't go wrong. I especially love the tips about what can and should be done ahead, and what can be frozen. The pictures are not quite as spectacular as her Instagram account (highly recommended for inspiration and decorating ideas), but the layout is lovely.
