Title: Impress your loved ones with these recipes
Review: This cook book is simply great. I tried a dozen of recipes in the last month and every day I impressed my husband, we truly enjoyed our meals together. It is very easy to follow the steps in each recipe, it does not take a lot of time or effort to prepare, yet the result is amazing. Thanks to Mai Pham and this cook book, I start to appreciate different spices, herbs, their wonderful aroma and the beauty of food. I am Vietnamese, growing up in Vietnam, so I could say that the Vietnamese recipes are authentic, but of course, with a bit of creative touch by Mai Pham. The Thai recipes are great, i have so much fun trying and learning Thai cuisine from this book, I may get another Thai cook book later but I trust very much the well-prepared, well-tested recipes from Mai Pham. A couple of Italian and French dishes from this book are also great, my husband is an Italian and they did impress him.

Review: A fine cookbook that contains a number of exciting, luscious recipes.This book was inspired by a restaurant, so you know these dishes have to be pleasers.I remember three favorites from 18 years ago when I first purchased this book new, in bookstore:Chao Soi (savory soup-like noodles & meat with tasty coconut milk!!) (Oh, this recipe isn't in this book!!)Hot & Sour Shrimp SoupThai Beef SaladIf you've not been introduced to Thai/Vietnamese cuisine and like spicy Asian food, you probably can't be disappointed with certain recipes in this book.-- This book was my first introduction to Thai cuisine via recipe book.

Title: Worth the money...
Review: Being a Vietnamese-American, I have found this book useful in supplementing what I had learned as a kid growing up in Viet Nam.The notable recipes included Beef Noodle Soup (the spice mix is the trick to get the right flavor in the broth) and spring rolls and related sauces (hoisin-based and fish-sauce based). My mother, who has been cooking since her teens, has also found the recipes very useful.My only gripe would be wanting more recipes! :)All in all, worth the money. I am looking forward to trying the dishes at Lemongrass in Sacramento.

Title: The best cookbook ever -- perfect for every need!
Review: My all time favorite cookbook! Written for Western cooks, filled with great meat and vegetarian recipes for Vietnamese and Thai food. Mai Pham did an outstanding job with this timeless work that provides helpful hints on how to make every recipe a success. Perfect for casual dining to formal, multi course meals. Ingredients easily available between local markets and local Asian market. I recommend it without reservation!

Title: This is one of five cookbooks I would take wherever I go
Review: This is my fifth purchase of this book. Sort of a family cookbook heirloom. Larb gai (minced chicken) makes it to almost every family food gathering. The minty cucumber salad is a summer staple. I do a combo of the Fisherman's soup and a vietnamese fish soup - can't quite remember Pham's names for a lemon infused bouillabaisse we scare up on a summer evening by the shore. All the recipes I've tried have been worth trying and tasting, and most can be accomplished without an Asian market in the neighborhood.So good!

Review: I have been to Lemongrass in Sacramento. It was my favorite restaurant when I lived there. This cookbook brought back man pleasant memories. I especially like the dessert coffee Saigon by Night. Lovely!
