Title: Great lighthearted Comedy
Review: Jim Carrey's performance in 'Yes Man' is nothing short of phenomenal. His portrayal of Carl Allen, a guy who decides to say 'yes' to everything, is both hilarious and deeply relatable. Carrey injects his trademark humor with a heartfelt sincerity that resonates throughout the film. 'Yes Man' isn't just a comedy; it's a reminder to embrace life's unexpected adventures and opportunities. Carrey's charm and comedic timing make every scene a delight, leaving you with a warm, uplifting feeling that stays with you. It's a movie that encourages you to laugh, live a little more freely, and maybe even say 'yes' more often yourself.

Title: When Jim Carrey's heart's not in it
Review: This is one of last big Hollywood movies that Jim Carrey made before he went off-the-grid and turned into Alan Watts. On paper, this movie should have been Carrey's best and probably would have been a classic. But you can just tell that Carrey's heart's not in it. By this time he was 46 years old and tied with Will Smith for the hottest movie star of all-time. It's ironic, because, given his highly philosophical nature over the past 10-12 years, you'd think that this would be been his most favorite movie ever! But his eyes, just look dead. His delivery is half-hearted. The other cast members are all on point and appear, notably, excited to work with Carrey, but, he's just not there. What cracks me up is that you have to imagine someone writing this script and thinking, "Jim Carrey! He'll love this! He's perfect for it!" And he was!... About 8-10 years earlier. But he's expressed in his later life that he's worked hard to find the "off" switch to the "ecstatically funny man with the rubber face!" that people all over the world learned to expect him to be throughout his 90's career. In the early 00's we saw him take more serious rolls like Magestic, Truman Show, and Eternal Sunshine, which he was good in - but he wasn't the same funny man in those movies that he was in Ace Ventura, Mask, or Liar Liar! In this movie, I couldn't help but see him struggle to try to find a balance between playing it serious and playing the crazy funny man, and, honestly, it just seemed like his tank was on empty. And this is not said to shame Jim Carrey. JC is the greatest actor that this planet has ever seen and he gave harder than anyone else. Ok, maybe that's a bit over-the-top, but he gave hard. They all do. Some with greater intensity and it takes a toll. The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long. Jim, enjoy your rest. This is still a quality film, and you made it so.

Title: an unexpected joy
Review: I never thought I would love this movie, but after renting it on Netflix I turned around and bought it on Amazon. That's how important I feel this movie is - I want to own it and show it to my friends and family in the months to come.To be honest, Jim Carey's usual movie formula is too manic for my tastes. For every sensible Bruce Almighty or Truman Show there is an over-the-top Ace Ventura, and I'm one of those who don't go in for crude humor and middle-school plotting. But in an outing more aligned to Carey's "Liar Liar," we find "Yes Man" follows the life an ordinary, reasonable man thrown into an extraordinary situation. And as he learns and grows, so we in the audience learn and grow with him. I found the experience both exciting and thought-provoking.Without giving too much of a spoiler: imagine being challenged to just say YES to any opportunity that comes your way? Now imagine being so lost and desperate, that you have nothing to lose by saying Yes to what presents before you? Now what if - against all reason and common sense - the path you followed - the dominos you set in motion by going down the path - lead to bigger and better life experiences and rewards than you would ever have been able to accomplish by 'playing it safe'?This movie takes us on that kind of trip. Assisted by the ever-charming pixie-ish Zooey Deschanel and an equally charming cast, Jim learns that the most unlikely choices can lead to incredible outcomes. There IS place for the path less taken and the beat of the different drummer. If you need a little more poetry and derring-do in your life, add this movie to your collection. It was a sleeper at the box-office, but big screenings is not where a film like this belongs. It earns a solid place in my collection because it delivers on the small scale, up close and personal, and I am the better for having seen this film. Give it a try - see how it effects you too.

Title: I really like it
Review: I watched the mask earlier in the week, which I really liked, and I love Jim Carrey. So I tried this movie. It's really good! It is funny, everything makes sense and clicks together, and I would say it is appropriate for kids 10/11 and above. I am pretty sure it says "ass" once or twice, and has some suggestive sexual references, like making it clear a 90 year woman is having oral sex with Carl, which is totally your call. As far as swears, I don't think there was anything worse than "ass" or "damn"
