Formerly a child of the streets, now a brilliant computer hacker and NYPD sergeant, Kathleen Mallory's powerful intelligence is matched only by the ferocity with which she pursues her own unpredictable vision of right and wrong. And she will need every bit of that intensity now, in a murder case that strikes close to home in more ways than one.

Title: This series just keeps getting better and better
Review: First off let me say that if you're looking for a touchy feely maiden in distress kind of heroine - you won't find it here! When a young woman is found murdered and mistakenly identified as Mallory, our Mallory moves in and uses her expert computer skills to try and trip up three suspects who all live in the same building. Some creepy moments ensue until all is resolved at the end. The whole gang reappears and their characters are further developed to this reader's delight. Once again the author serves up a fascinating suspense that I hated to see end. Some reviewers seem to think that Mallory is this inhuman character that makes the story and author heartless and if you have one shred of decency, you won't like this book. Ummm, what version were they reading? Mallory is a little ruthless and heartless at times (she certainly maintains a "ends justify the means" mentality) but don't mistake that for having no emotion. Knowing her background of having to survive on the streets as a very young kid, the death of her foster parents who kept her somewhat grounded, and you begin to see the tight control she maintains over her emotions as a necessary function. Mallory is so intricate a character that she seems to be a real human being, albeit a flawed one, and not on of those cookie cutter females that pass as heroines.

Title: Book 2 Mallory cool
Review: Book two not as good as Oracle the first book. But good enough for me to buy book three, ha. Mallory is a worthy read. Will finish what I started. Will let you know how good next one is

Title: I love the Mallory series and have been a fan since ...
Review: I love the Mallory series and have been a fan since Mallory's Oracle was first published. The characters are uniquely drawn, the story lines also surprise and entertain. I had read The Man Who Cast Two Shadows in hardback years ago before I had my Kindle. I decided to revisit the early books and see if they were as good as I had remembered. I was was pleasantly surprised to discover that The Man Who Cast Two Shadows was like meeting an old friend whom I had missed, and one who had aged really well during those years we had been apart. There is no other protagonist quite like Mallory, and Charles? Well, Luddite though he is and may always be, there is no other character I would want to call my friend.

Title: Like later works more
Review: This is the third book I've read of the series. I started out with much more recent ones so thought I would go back & read some of the earlier works. I had a more difficult time getting into this one. The scenes are very abrupt. But it was interesting to learn more about Mallory's early days. I'm going to go back to reading more of her later works.

Title: Great Writer
Review: Found the first Carol OConnell book at a used book store and then bought this one and several more. I really like her writing. Keeps the mystery going till the end.

Title: I'm in love ... with Mallory
Review: I run a mystery book club at my local library, but had never heard of Carol O'Connell until one of my members suggested her. OMG!! If Kathy Mallory isn't the most interesting murder cop going, I'll eat my Nero Wolfe collection ... This is my fourth book in the series and I find each one compelling and exciting in its own way. If you like mysteries, read O'Connell. You won't be disappointed.

Title: More about Charles
Review: We learn more about Mallory as the buddies of Markowitz try to take care of his daughter. Some see her very clearly and others see her as a monster they do not understand. Charles reveals himself and his almost obsessive interest in Mallory.

Title: Great read!
Review: Writing is very clever! I find myself rereading sentences or paragraphs just to trip on the rich and sometimes unusual wording. The cadence is terrific. Toss in the twists and turns of a great plot, and another O'Connell winner is at hand.

Review: I had read most of Caro O'Connell's 'Mallory' books before but lost track of them. I decided to get all of the ones I read plus a few new ones that I had not previously purchased. I love the books about 'Mallory'.

Review: I agree with the other reviewer who finds Mallory, the "Heroine", one cool character. However, this is the "quirk" which O'Connell has chosen to define her sleuth. Haven't all sleuths got one? Although Mallory is cold, I found that there were some endearing traits, and I found her warming to the cat. I like the way she lets nothing get in her way, and the book does explain her background, which I have wondered about through several novels. I suppose if I had read them in sequence, I would have found this out quite early on! What of the story and the plot itself. I found the book to be gripping and the storyline moved at a good pace. I did not in any way guess the ending, and was stunned, to be truthfull. It is well written, and I like the way all the other characters respond to Mallory. I will certainly be reading more of O'Connellls books, and would like to think others would read and enjoy them too.

Review: Schade, diese Buch war ziemlich langweilig. Ich hatte mit dem dritten Band aus der Reihe angefangen und dieser war der Spannendste.
