A completely addictive psychological thriller from the UK Top 50 bestselling author of The Bride

It was meant to be the perfect getaway…

As I board the plane, all I can feel is hope and excitement. One whole week away. Just me and the man I have promised to be with forever.

Time to repair what has been broken. Maybe even try for another baby, and pray that this time it doesn’t end heartbreakingly.

I just need to not think about what George has done. He’s my husband. And this is the holiday where we make things right.

But then I realise he can’t take his eyes off the beautiful woman who’s just boarded the plane in front of me…

In that moment, everything changes.

And nobody is safe.

A gripping, twisty, breathtaking psychological thriller that will keep you reading late into the night. If you loved The Housemaid, The Girl on the Train and The Couple at No.9, you’ll be addicted to The Holiday.

Title: Predictable
Review: This was a fine summer read but I was never invested in any of the characters. It was easy to predict who was going to be the winner in the end. Because it was difficult to care about the characters, I didn't care who lost along the way.

Title: Must Read!!
Review: I almost didn't give this book a chance. It seemed that in the beginning of the book was a lot of fighting between the 2 main characters and it got on my nerves. But the more I read the more the book got better. Twists and turns yes. You think it's 1 person than another and then you're surprised to learn that you weren't even right in the 1st place! A must read give it a chance.

Title: Perfect summer season guilty pleasure read. Twisty, turny, shocking good time!
Review: Don’t let the primary couple in this story’s constant, seemingly never ending bickering turn you off from finishing The Holiday. Having that front row seat to Suzie and George’s dysfunctional relationship is absolutely worth it in the long run. As well as being a key component within the plot foundation. The concluding chapters are the most enjoyable I’ve read in a long time.In addition to my definitely recommending this book - especially for those who enjoy psychological thrillers and true crime - I just have to share that the main female character is a total nightmare!I do not believe I have ever disliked any fictional person to the depths of my soul as I do Suzie. I even found myself cheering and feeling disconcertingly thrilled each and every time anything negative happened to her. Also, the entire character line-up within this John Nicholl’s novel is stacked with people who are either manipulative, self-centered, self serving, pessimistic, and deceitful and/or men and women who are fanatical to the extreme, making them (all…) dangerous to others.I guess the entirety of the above all melds together in a perfectly unique fashion, thereby creating the delicious guilty pleasure feeling you get when reading The Holiday.I can’t add much more without giving any of the story away — and no one likes reviews which do that — so I’ll just repeat my positive recommendation.Perfect beach/summer vacation read, or any time of the year!

Title: Read, repeat, repeat, repeat
Review: I quit after 140 pages, which was about 100 too many. The dialogue repeats: she is a cow, he is a sleaze. They argue over sex, money and in-laws. BORING and predictable.

Title: Don't Waste Your $ or Time on this Book
Review: I am an avid reader and I absolutely hated this book. The three major characters are completely unlikeable. The husband is a total jerk, the girlfriend is just as manipulative as he is and completely unlikeable and the wife is a whiney doormat. There was nothing to the story that wasn't predictable. I don't know who thought this was an "addictive psychological thrilled" but that description is completely untrue. I always finish what I start reading but this one was a real chore. It as truly an awful read.

Title: A so-so thriller.
Review: The Holiday is a book about a couple , Suzie and George who go on vacation to Tenerife. There are a lot of issues in their marriage. He has a wandering eye, and she wants to have a baby not knowing that he has had a vasectomy. And then there is Amelia, George's girlfriend, who is manipulating both of them. It's not a great book, but it's an easy read. And, it ended so abruptly that I thought that it was to be continued. Apparently not.

Title: A Good Read
Review: I almost stopped reading this book because I was waiting for the psychological thriller portion of the story that never seemed to come. Almost the first half was devoted to Suzie and John’s vacation and how much they hated each other. I was bored by reading the same storyline over and over. But once they got home from their vacation, The Holiday became very interesting. I loved the twists and turns that kept me guessing. But the final twist was the best.

Review: I have a feeling books are " free" because otherwise no one would have noticed books such as this one. Not that it's not well written, it is. But the plot.. and the way it's dragged.. my God... Painful.. very painful..

Review: I'm giving this book three stars because I actually finished it.'The Holiday' is not one of John Nichol's better books, I'm sorry to say.It reads as if several plot line ideas were put into a computer and the machine mixed them up and churned this very predictable novel out. None of the characters have any redeeming features, one can only be delighted that they aren't part of one's own family. I found the characters predictable, and as two dimensional as cardboard cutouts, as if they have been selected from the big book of pantomime villains and victims.Jade, the female lead character, is a pill popping, neurotic, weak woman with trust issues.Granted, she has good reason because George, her husband, is an egotistical, narcissistic philanderer with a gambling addiction. He can't keep his pecker in his pants and has run up gambling debts. Jade has won big on the Premium Bonds, and therein lies the problem.Jade doesn't trust George with her money, after his spendthrift ways and gambling addiction and is determined to keep a strong grip on the purse strings.George desperately wants to get his hands on the money and leave Jade. But he and Jade are trapped in a toxic marriage and, as a devout Catholic, Jade won't divorce him.Cue the gist of the book as they (endlessly) squabble and tear strips off each other with their mutual antagonism. Jade, despite being a twenty seven year old married woman, is still firmly under the thumb of her domineering Catholic father and influenced by her local priest. Daddy Dearest rules his family with an iron hand, like a Victorian Paterfamilias, riding roughshod over his doormat wife and daughter, full of fire and brimstone and the Seven Deadly Sins. Jade still relies on her father to advise her on her life, health, wealth and happiness. Add to the mix a conniving girlfriend of George's that milks the situation for everything it's worth, Amelia has two faces, both beautiful and a mind like a steel trap. There's also a predictable ending that seems rushed, as if the author had tired of the whole thing and wanted to finish it post haste.Rather disappointing.

Review: Really disappointed having read other reviews highly rating this. The characters in the book were vile! The religious hold the father has over his adult daughter is unbelievable and ridiculous . The whole premise was totally annoying and if it wasn’t for the fact that I was on holiday and had plenty of time on my hands I probably wouldn’t have finished it.

Customers say

Customers find the book miserable, not an attention-grabber, and mediocre. They also say the main female character is a nightmare.
