From #1 New York Times bestselling author Mark Greaney comes the second entry in the explosive thriller series featuring the lethal assassin known as the Gray Man.
When an old comrade Court Gentry thought was dead returns to haunt him, his own life is put in the crosshairs.
The man wants Court to complete a mission, with one crucial catch to his orders: Instead of a difficult assassination, the job will entail a nearly impossible kidnapping--and Court must return his quarry to the very CIA team that turned on him.

Title: looks like a good read
Review: Can't give it 5 stars as I have not read it yet. If it is written in the same vein as the first book, should be very captivating. Made a mistake of reading the a couple of the Grey Man books out of sequence. Trying toe right that withe this book.

Title: Sadly and awfully, the backdrop of this thriller is accurate and even more pertinent today
Review: What follows is a current backdrop of On Target's narrative. To my mind, nothing that follows is a spoiler. Rather, it should increase appreciation both for those who have already read the novel and also for those who are considering reading it, about how much of this incredibly complex and horrible situation Greaney got right. This is from a September 21, 2024 Wall Street Journal article: "Itâs been called one the worldâs ugliest wars. Now the conflict in Sudan is entering a desperate new phase. The paramilitary-turned-rebel Rapid Support Forces have laid siege to El Fasher, the largest city in the western Darfur region, for nearly five months, part of a raw struggle for power with Sudanâs military. Global health authorities have declared famine in one of the camps for the displaced on El Fasherâs outskirts. Some of the cityâs roughly two million residents have resorted to eating animal feed, after both the RSF and the military for months blocked the flow of aid."Over the past 10 days, the RSF has launched an all-out assault on El Fasher, firing hundreds of artillery and mortar shells into densely populated areas. The Sudanese military, which has forged an alliance in El Fasher with two local armed groups, has responded with airstrikes targeting areas occupied by the RSF. There have also been drone attacks and ferocious street battles as the RSF makes ever deeper forays into the city. If El Fasher falls, residents, regional experts and the Biden administration worry that the RSF, which grew from the notorious Janjaweed fighters who terrorized Darfur in the early 2000s, could embark on a fresh round of mass atrocities, going after members of the Black Zaghawa and Fur communities it already targeted two decades ago."Sudanâs then-president, Omar al-Bashir, dispatched the majority Arab Janjaweed to put down an uprising by Darfurâs Black communities, causing the deaths of an estimated 300,000 people between 2003 and 2008 in what the U.S. and others have labeled the first genocide of the 21st century. âToday, a violent history is repeating itself,â President Biden warned on Tuesday, in his most substantive comments on Sudan since the war erupted more than 17 months ago."Biden urged Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the powerful general leading the RSF, and army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to pull their forces back from El Fasher, allow humanitarian agencies access to prevent potential mass death from starvation and lack of medical care, and start talks to end the conflict. He also reiterated an earlier determination by his administration that both the RSF and the military, which is known by its acronym SAF, have committed war crimes and that the RSF had committed crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing."United Nations investigators say that fighting between the RSF and allied Arab militias on one side and poorly armed self-defense forces from the Black Masalit community on the other killed as many as 15,000 people in the West Darfur city of El Geneina between mid-April and June last year. That battle, which intensified after the SAF withdrew from the city, was accompanied by targeted attacks on sites hosting previously displaced people. Another massacre in a camp of internally displaced Darfuris in November claimed as many as 2,000 lives, the investigators say."

Title: Love the Gray Man Series!
Review: I love the fact that this book picked up where the last book ended. It helps the story flow (for me). I get frustrated with Gentry sometimes because I feel like I am there with him. Good book - already started Book 3.

Title: A GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO REACHER WANTABE'S
Review: Many series market themselves as viable alternatives to Lee Child's, Jack Reacher series. While this character still does not live up to that claim either, he is a viable go-to personna that makes for a good read. The author does a good job in developing the backstop and a good gung-ho drive that keeps you riveted. I watched the movie "Gray Man" with Ryan Gosling and liked it, ignorant of the book series. I discovered the first book in the series of the same name and subsequently went back and watched the movie a 2nd time. Everything clicked and fell into place. Unlike most book-to-movie franchises, Gray Man does a good job following the basic premise of the book, much like the movie "Reacher" took to its namesake. This being the 2nd book in the Gray Man series, continues the namesake in his quest, but this time, to help clear his past with the CIA on a blown mission. Recommend watching the movie Gray Man (Netflix) first and make sure to read the first in the series of the same name afterwards. If you've read Gray Man, watch the movie following. It colors your impression of the character. Then delve into this exciting sequel.

Title: Lots of action....
Review: This book frustrated me a bit because, like the first book, multiple characters sustained devastating injuries but, of course, kept going. It takes away from the plot and action. Gentry has a very odd sense of morality and justice that is confusing. There was a lot of action, though.

Review: I really enjoyed this book, but Iâm a big fan of all the grey man books. They are an easy read with a predictable ending, which is what I like in an action book. I loved it and bought the next book in the series as soon as I finished this one.
