A cryptic murder pulls a former soldier turned financial analyst deep into the corruption and menace that prowl beneath the opulent world of finance, in this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller from David Baldacci.
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.
Sara Ewes, Devine’s coworker and former girlfriend, has been found hanging in a storage room of his office building—presumably a suicide, at least for now—prompting the NYPD to come calling on him. If that wasn’t enough, before the day is out, Devine receives another ominous visit, a confrontation that threatens to dredge up grim secrets from his past in the army unless he participates in a clandestine investigation into his firm. This treacherous role will take him from the impossibly glittering lives he once saw only through a train window, to the darkest corners of the country’s economic halls of power . . . where something rotten lurks. And apart from this high-stakes conspiracy, there’s a killer out there with their own agenda, and Devine is the bull’s-eye.

Title: 6:20 Man: Great Novel - Excellent writing
Review: The mysterious kept me reading. The protagonist was powerful and real. Suspense ruled. I thought it was long, but kept on reading.

Title: Intriguing and kept my interest
Review: The story line was complex enough and the characters limited enough to follow and enjoy. I did not appreciate the couple jabs at the Christian pro life view and advocating a critical view of gay marriage as backward or immoral. But then, that is the real world where we live. Overall it was a good read.

Title: Like classic Baldacci better
Review: Iâve read all of DBâs books, except the Archer series (only read the first of that one). This wasnât a favorite. Good suspense, inspired me to power through to the end. Some elements didnât line up (simple things like work schedules and timelines), would prefer more advanced vocabulary from an author, and just a shade of realism. Of course itâs supposed to be fiction, but keep it real enough (maybe a little less perfection in characters) to make it extraordinary, with an overtone of realism (like John Sandford). Of course DBâs book The Winner was outstanding, and not realistic, but still felt more real than this. The police officers / detectives were made to look like rube fools - so many of the characters were just typical cliches. I didnât find any real connection with the characters and thought some of the plot lines eye rolling - the handsome, fit, emotionally damaged, middle age former soldier that has all the hot 20 something women after himâ¦. What I did love about this book was the intelligence and research put into the financial scam structure. That was the most interesting. Itâs almost like DB wrote some of the key elements and outlined the rest to have someone else finish it off.

Title: fast moving
Review: He definitely did his research for this book. Lots of details about technical things that I probably only have understood, but I really appreciated the fact that there was an attempt to explain some of it. The characters were fascinating, and I really didnât figure out who was who until the very end this book was a page Turner and Iâm looking forward to the second one.
