A no-nonsense and helpful guide on how to cope with a slew of mental-health issues that are hellbent on ruining the lives of millions of people worldwide.
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes―having melt downs, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it’s not good to do these things, but it can’t help it sometimes―especially if it’s obsessing about trauma it can’t overcome. That’s where this life-changing book comes in.
With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what’s going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately to the non-emergencies of everyday life, and to deal effectively with old, or newly acquired, traumas (particularly post-traumatic stress disorder).

Title: How to book
Review: Great book with lots of humor. The author drops the F bomb a lot so you have to be OK with that. There is very good advice in this book. Itâs not a very thick book so itâs not overwhelming to read.

Title: Great book! Highly recommend!
Review: I bought this book for my daughter and my husband. Both suffer from anxiety and neither like reading books that much. It is written in a way that is easy to read, very relatable, and so helpful. It is funny but not in a way that makes fun of the issue but eases the tension and made them feel like "this is normal". It was so impactful for my husband that he shared it with his psychologist. Highly recommend!

Title: Needs an Editor
Review: I'm Torn. Pros: This book covers a very necessary, serious, and stigmatized area of mental health: trauma. It does a good job describing accurately & scientifically what happens to the brain on trauma, the effects and how to deal. More should be explored & written about this subject.Cons: I have issues with the way it's written. First, the Title Doesn't Really Tell You It's About Trauma. So people looking for that won't find it and people who think this book is about something else will be out a few bucks. It's written with the view that absolutely Everyone has gone through some kind of trauma & could benefit from this book. I won't argue that, I can't know. The Language is not necessary. There isn't a sentence not peppered with f-bombs and every other curse word. I have NO problem with cursing but this is overkill! It's obvious the book is geared towards young people but if trauma effects all ages why write it like that? It's comically full of urban lingo which almost discredits the intelligent and noble writer. Because it's got a lot of valuable info., I read it, but it's hard. I think even a teenager would roll their eyes at the writer trying to relate to them and sound cool.By the time a lot of people get around to doing some self help reading they're pushing 30 & up. It would be great if it were scrapped & re-written for everyone. It also says, "I dont think young people are very smart & won't be interested in reading something unless it sounds 'woke." That's not what I'd want to hear if I were the target audience. In fact there's nothing worse than an adult trying to talk like your generation when they're not.The other thing it says is, if you're older than the target audience, this book won't be useful to you, which is also untrue. So, kudos to the writer for delving into a serious much needed topic but please get an Editor.

Title: Great book!
Review: This book is both insightful and hilarious! As a child of trauma I always love books like this. I like the insight on how the human brain actually works. The cussing and jokes make it a super easy read. My new favorite word is di**itude!

Review: a fun and yet serious approach to understanding the science behind trauma and how it affects the brain. she doesn't sugar it, AND manages to explain it in a straight forward non-condescending way. I now have more self-compassion, while also understanding my psychological and behavioral responses, and navigate towards healthier practices. I feel better equipped from reading this book. warning: the author swears in this book.

Review: This is a brilliant book. No faffing about, straight to the point and includes some elements of trauma therapy which offers practical help on how to acknowledge, work with and deal with things.Honestly, depending on where youâre at-this book can possibly trigger you, so itâs important to keep on reading, just bits at a time. The book has an informal tone, which makes it easy to read and understand- and feels like a witty, down to earth friend is giving you a lot of useful advice- which is great especially if youâre trying to work things out on your own.Glad I bought this book. 100% recommend to anyone.
