Title: Good for beginners
Review: These get slammed on the Reddit metal detector sub for being sub-par with the better metal detectors. That's fine. It's not a high-end machine. But it's a good beginner's machine. Accurate enough, dependable enough, easy to assemble and start using. You take it out, you find stuff. It takes 2 9 volt batteries, so if 9 volt isn't your thing, look elsewhere. I went ahead and got a 9 volt recharger and some extras.I will say this: my 2 daughters and I have a blast taking this thing out "treasure hunting," along with a pinpointer. They are absolutely thrilled when it beeps and can't wait to do what kids love to do -- dig. The 9 year old gets an orange pin pointer, the 5-year old gets a magnet and a spoon (I know, not conducive to proper metal detecting) and daddy get this thing and both a big shovel and the smaller shove that comes with this set (which is a heavy duty little shovel, btw). Then we all go to town -- team building, disussing what metals are -- steel vs gold/silver, magnetic, etc., Hoping to find "fossils" and "treasure," we treasure by searching and finding whatever we find.Easy assembly, easy to use. Great entry level machine. Will you outgrow it? I hope so. I hope this opens up new possibilities and dreams for anyone who uses it. But it's a good starter within this price range to see if you (or you littles) catch the treasure-hunting bug.

Title: Fairly detects not waterproof
Review: (2023 review below will be 2024 7/28/24)If I'm not mistaken I wave the detector side to side on the ground but if you jar it just alittle it triggers the sensor between 58-81 and all bars of inches 2"-8" comes up and if you accidentally bump it on the ground it triggers too.It's gone off with 2 ways I had my wire.1.the wire from the scan disk to the UI device is floating or 2. It's wrapped around the pole.Feels kinda funky kinda wondering why this is part of the top 10 detectors on some sites articles...7/28/24Went camping to a lake and damPOSITIVE1. Found fishing hooks and part to boats and was able to dig for stuff 4-6in under sand2.found out in one area the ground was all iron and the detector kept picking up iron ore between 14-34 on the detector.3.this device is fair in detecting things and I was excited to find things and unbury them.NEGATIVE1. Found it when I place the detecting disk in water the detection gets really beepy and crazy so don't think it handles well in shallow water.2. I still notice it beeps alot just by a slight wiggle in the air even if my connecting handle rods are in place, very emotional device and I think because the disk went into water it made my detector messed up so I kinda think its false advertising claiming its "WATERPROOF" more resistant but still operates.
