A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Now a series on Amazon Freevee
The “buoyant and brainy Mexican cooking authority” (New York Times) and star of the three-time James Beard Award-winning PBS series Pati’s Mexican Table brings together more than 150 iconic dishes that define the country’s cuisine
Although many of us can rattle off our favorite authentic Mexican dishes, we might be hard pressed to name more than ten. Which is preposterous, given that Mexico has a rich culinary history stretching back thousands of years. For the last decade, Pati Jinich has sought out the culinary treasures of her home country, from birria, to salsa macha, to coyotas, to carne asada.
Many of these dishes are local specialties, heirlooms passed down through generations, unknown outside of their original regions. Others have become national sensations. Each recipe is a classic. Each one comes with a story told in Pati's warm, relatable style. And each has been tested in Pati's American kitchen to ensure it is the best of its kind. Together, these essential recipes paint a vivid picture of the richness of Mexico.

Title: It Arrived!
Review: #1 Spouse excitedly belted out coming in from the foyer, "The delivery you have been waiting for is here!". Me, like "What? Watcha talking a bout Suzie?" What seems like our daily Amazon delivery is always something for her. The package sat a day or so, until she finally dropped it on my lap and told me to open it. Ok, ok already.Upon opening the box, there was a fabulous photo of Pati starring back at me. Yes! I had been waiting for the book, it's been a while since I ordered it. I wanted to purchase it to support her and naively thought since she was on PBS, perhaps this would help her career. I'm so ignorant. She was a star before she was on PBS. I just loved her programs, her family, her boys narfing down her wonderful concoctions. I enjoyed her travels, her total comfort being in front of the camera's and interaction with her guests and her travels. Sorry, move over Rick Bayless.... Pati's got your number. Anyhow...The cookbook is glorious. Great photographs and it weighs a ton. Which is good. Such a wonderful array of different recipes, ingredients and "How To's" if you will. Step by Step and the why's. Why Roma Tomato's for instance? I truly thought there was only one Chipotle, nope. I usually might be a borracha, who knew I could actually make a salsa (Salsa Borracha) dedicated to enjoy my margarita while getting borracha'ed if you would. Sorry, that was crass, but on point. So many great recipes that we will enjoy time and again. Already replaced my roasted tomatillo recipe with her version. (Sorry Rick..)The only downside, if this is even one, the recipes take some time and care. This is fine with me. It seems that cooking together, even tho it's just us, will blossom a relationship. Even tho my soon to be nicknamed, "4 fingers" spouse (due to some interesting knife skills), I relish the opportunity to cook with her. The colours of Mexico are perfectly represented in Pati's dishes. The recipes are easy to follow, well thought out and even this brit can figure it out. Although, like all cooks, being the "German Engineer", wife's nickname for me, would love to know what medium onion is in Texas. Weight's would be helpful, however, not necessary in the end. We can make some wonderful mistakes, a la Bob Ross.Definitely add this to your collection.. heck even make one of the recipes. Pati's got some real skills here...

Title: Authentic, easy to follow, delicious recipes
Review: We're so impressed with Pati's latest undertaking. We're huge fans to begin with, but even if you're unfamiliar with her but love Mexican cuisine, this is a worthwhile addition for your library. It's gorgeous from cover to cover, and explores the wide variety of foods Mexico has to offer, from classic to the unconventional. We love the way the recipes are presented with a concise and to-the-point and the recipes are clear and easy to follow. Everything is presented in simple terms that even novice cooks will be able to understand and follow. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Title: Interesting Recipes but No Nutritional Info
Review: In this day and time I expect new cookbooks to have nutritional information. Since I'm diabetic I must pay attention to the values. Usually the lack of nutritionals would automatically mean "move along" BUT I may still buy this. The recipes for the various salsas and their explanations were very intriguing. However, the recipe that completely grabbed my attention was the Chile Rellenos.
