Title: History with a twist
Review: A historical novel that I read to learn about how Centurions operated in the Roman Empire, but one with a surprise twist. The author, new to fiction, wisely uses the Centurion's servant Tullus, as the reader's perspective. We follow him from his capture by the Romans and his life as a trusted servant to a Centurion, who is a man of honor and integrity. The twists and turns of the novel made me think how this would make a good movie. Side-bars fill in historical details, which is the author's main intent, to teach the context, culture, and customs of the time. Excellent book.

Title: Very enjoyable, though Ebook formatting needs improvment.
Review: This is a very enjoyable read, though not without its faults. The formatting of the Kindle edition is disruptive, with the helpful historical notes interspersed with the narrative. I enjoyed both the narrative and the historical notes, but there needs to be some work in the next Ebook edition to help it flow better.I also found the ending to be too abrupt. I'd prefer a "Week and a Half" in the life instead. Overall, this was an insightful weekend read that provides the best of historical fiction. I learned a bit about Roman and Jewish culture in the process and gave found it to be useful in small-group discussions. I will likely read more in the series.

Title: Easy read full of meaningful history
Review: This is a quite enjoyable, informative and easy read. It was full of historical detail that really illuminated this story and the Greatest Story for me. The educational side- bars were fun to read. I would welcome other books like this and from this author. BTW, I have the Kindle edition.

Title: Great Read
Review: I read this book for a New Testament Class I'm taking. It is a great read. The story moves very quickly and provides a lot of factual details about life at the time of Jesus. The story itself is fictional but based on a few of the passages in gospels about the Centurion. If I was going to make a recommendation I'd say the book is good enough for high school and above.

Title: What was it like to be a Roman centurion during the days of Jesus?
Review: This series is great and this might have been my favorite of them all. The author sends a Roman centurion and his slave helper to several locations, providing information about what life was really like. I won't give away the ending, but I felt it coming and enjoyed it all along. A great way to learn history while enjoying the fictional setting.

Review: I really enjoyed reading this book! If you ever wanted to feel what it would be like to walk in the sandals of a key Roman soldier this easy to read, highly detailed, well written book is for you. Worthy of a sixth star!
