Title: Started out great, really impressive, then it died, but customer support was excellent
Review: For the first 24 hours, I was really impressed. Really snappy performance, 8 GB of RAM was plenty for simple tasks, and the SSD was capacious at 256 GB, considering the price. The inclusion of Windows Pro made the box almost free! However, after updating to Windows 11 Build 22H3, during the process of applying updates, the computer locked up. After 60 minutes with the computer no longer visible on the network and the keyboard and mouse non-responsive, pulled the power cord. Upon restoring power and turning on the computer, the PC was stuck for hours at the spinning circle during boot. Two more power-cycles and Windows repair interface appeared. Selected Windows Reset, Local Source (wouldn't work with cloud source), Windows began resetting. However, after a restart, computer back to the infinitely spinning circle. :-(If this had proved reliable, I'd have bought a dozen or more as remote monitoring PCs for client networks. But given that I've had good luck with the similarly priced AWOW models, I will not be investing any more money or time in the GMKTek offerings.Update 01-07-2024-----------------------Fortunately, GMKTek provides a download for a Windows 11 re-installation ISO. With this and leveraging a fair amount of knowledge of Windows installation options, was able to re-image the SSD. Unfortunately, the product key is invalidated and I had to use a spare Windows 10 product key to re-activate Windows. Unfortunate the GMKTek hasn't worked out the same relationship with Microsoft that Dell has, whereby any Windows 11 ISO used to load Windows onto a Dell OptiPlex results in an automatically activated Windows 11 installation.Bottom line is that after recreating and updating all apsects of the re-installed Windows 11 OS, the PC is back to running normally. I know to steer clear now of some driver updates. The PC has been running for about 36 hours and I'll post an update if that changes in the near future. When this PC works, it represents a great value for the money in terms of hardware specs and a Windows 11 license. However, taking into account the time issue remediation takes and the expertise required, the TCO (total cost of ownership) rises significantly. If I never have to do brain surgery on this device again, I'll still feel the cost was justified based on the performance of this sub-$200 device.P.S. I now make a complete image backup before running/installing ANY updates so I can simply restore the image backup rather than running into yet another Windows 11 re-installation process and the requirement to use/purchase another Windows product key.P.P.S. The WIndows 11 re-installation ISO download was 11 GB and was not a standard Windows 11 installation ISO. This had to be burned to a flash drive (I used a 16 GB USB3 model; I used Rufus to create the bootable UEFI flash drive) and then the GMKTek PC booted with it. Upon boot, I was faced with a terminal window and a couple of choices. The one I chose led to an image/sysprep process that fortunately got the PC bootable once again with Windows 11 Pro.P.P.P.S. Highly recommended --> As soon as you boot the device for the first time, find a tool such as ProduKey by NirSoft and extract and save the Windows 11 product key. Ideally (although I didn't have a chance to test), this key would work if a re-install was ever required. The other option, that I was waiting for until the PC was fully updated, is to create an image backup using any number of tools, including the image backup tool in Windows. Thus, if any of your update processes results in a non-bootable PC, you can simply re-image from the backup and avoid having a non-activated instance of Windows 11.Update 01-12-2024-----------------------Vendor reached out proactively and offered some assistance, although I'd resolved the corrupt Windows 11 issue independently. However, that level of customer support is remarkable considering the price of this product and the lack of such support from other vendors with much pricier offerings. Due to this, upgrading the rating to four stars.Update 01-13-2024-----------------------Customer support proactively reached out and provided a product key so I could activate Windows 11 and free up my personal product key. GMKtec's proactive reaching out to a customer with issues is almost unparalleled in my experience over 40 years, so despite the issues I encountered, I'm raising my review to five stars. For a product this inexpensive but with excellent performance, providing this level of customer support is laudable.

Title: Good for clone hero(and can apparently run raceroom!!)
Review: I got this for my clone hero setup. I occasionally use it for minor computer functions but mostly just clone hero. I should've gotten the one with bigger storage for barely more money but overall this works really well, I was easily able to navigate everything to add the games, and all the songs from the original games with lots of space left. Haven't used it for other games because I'd quickly run out of space. Overall works perfect for clone hero though.Edit: I've now had it for several months. When playing clone hero don't expect crazy high fps. Fps with everything else turned off and settings good is 250-300. That's with no video background also. With a video background it's 150-200 fps. It also randomly slows down and then fast forwards or straight up skips a little. It's usable but a little frustrating when you start to get really good. Id definitely like to have something with more storage and definitely ram because this RAM is showing that just having CH open uses 100% of RAM. Now to the computer aspects. It works totally fine as a normal computer, but gets slow when you start adding other apps. I couldn't use high power computer games and even mobile ones sometimes froze. It also really slowed down opening tabs and stuff and just navigating anything is a little slow. It still works fine but it could definitely use a little more space and processing power.Second edit: I recently started sim racing and was running it on my laptop since I don't have an actual PC, and just for the heck of it I downloaded raceroom on this thing and hooked up my g29 and... It's running pretty much as well as it does on my $1k laptop. I have switched over my setup to this instead because it's easier and runs it basically as well, and basically never crashed, whereas my laptop crashed frequently. This mini PC is way too good for its price.Overall still a good little PC you can use anywhere, and for the price really is remarkable. Yes I have complaints but I will not be reducing my stars because for the price it performs better than I expected. My update is more to let other clone hero players, or people buying this to game, that you probably want a little more than what this has. Although the price is unbeatable if you get it on sale. I got mine for about $120. (After second update this is less true. For most games this does underperform and you'll want something better. But it randomly is really really good at certain games. It runs clone hero AND raceroom better than my main computer. Originally was 4 stars but will now be 5 stars)

Title: Exactly as advertised
Review: I recently purchased the GMKtec NucBox G3 mini PC from Amazon, and I am extremely impressed with its performance and functionality. This compact computer is powered by an Intel N100 4-core processor, and it delivers lightning-fast speed and smooth performance. The graphics are also impressive, thanks to the Intel UHD Graphics 600 or Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655, which allow me to enjoy my favorite games and videos in stunning detail. The NucBox G3 is also incredibly versatile and can be used for a range of applications, including entertainment, productivity, and gaming. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend the GMKtec NucBox G3 mini PC to anyone looking for a high-performance, compact computer.

Review: Iâm someone whoâs used to working with a traditional desktop setup, and so, I was skeptical about how well a mini-PC like the Nucbox G3 would work for me. However, after having it for a few weeks, I can say with confidence that this little box has blown me away with its performance, especially considering its price-point.SetupInitially after I opened the box, I was impressed with its compact size and sleek design. Setting up this computer was a breeze; it comes pre-installed with Windows 11 and the SSD allows for the booting of the computer to be very fast. Overall, the computer was extremely easy to get up and running, just plug it in, boot it up, and go through a quick Windows 11 setup and youâre ready to start using the computer.Price-to-PerformanceWhat sells this little computer for me is the price-to-performance ratio. The cheapest option is only ~$266CAD (8GB RAM 256SSD) and the most expensive option is ~$350CAD (16GB RAM 1TB SSD) at the time this review was being written. Wifi and BT is integrated. You can connect two 4K screens and run 4K videos on both at the same time. The noise from the cooling fan is negligible since it throttles according to load. Generally, in this price range, you wouldnât find a computer nearly as good and especially not within such a small and compact size. The fact that is comes pre-installed with Windows 11 is just the cherry on top. This is great computer that costs less than some smartphones, yet I feel not any compromise.SizeThe Nucbox G3 is incredibly small, which makes it great for creating a âhiddenâ setup. You can just stick it to the back of your monitor and create a âhiddenâ PC setup and if you have a wireless keyboard and mouse, you can also create a âwirelessâ setup. As well as being great for creating a âhiddenâ setup this computer is also great as a media computer. Stick it to the back of your TV, connect a wireless media keyboard and you got yourself a media setup. Another great thing about the small size of this computer is its portability, taking this computer somewhere else and setting it up is just so easy compared to a regular computer because of its size. This computer is a great middle-grounds between a laptop and a regular desktop PC. Overall, the small and compact size of this computer fosters many benefits and allows for a variety of different setups you can create.ConclusionHonestly, if someone had switched my PC with the Nucbox G3 and didnât let me know, I probably wouldnât even notice a difference in my day-to-day use. Itâs a really great computer and I have nothing bad to say about it at this point because it is serving me very well. Youâre likely not going to be doing intense gaming on this (although you could do some casual, light gaming pretty well on this thing). From its quick and easy setup to its compact size I was delighted all the way through.

Review: When you take into consideration the price to value of this product, you are able to get a lot out of this mini PC.It, of course, functions perfectly as a streaming box if you set it up with a wireless keyboard/mouse to watch whichever services you're subscribed to. I personally was interested in seeing how well this PC would function for gaming, as it's convenient size would make it perfect for attending LAN events/parties.It's maximum performance seems to teeter around what would be considered mid level system requirements. I've tested Minecraft as well as PS2 and Wii emulation which all ran pretty stably. When it comes to more intensive games like Valorant for example, it suffered from pretty significant stutters that could end up being disadvantageous. Granted this was tested on the 8gb model, and the stutters were infrequent enough, I believe it would run a lot smoother with more RAM. Fortunately the RAM is replaceable for this mini PC.When rated as a streaming box it is fantastic and runs videos smoothly. Since it can run up to the Wii/PS2 generation of emulation, it can also service as a great emulation machine. It also doubles up being good for games you can run at LAN parties like Minecraft or some low to mid system requirement fighting games.

Review: I bought this little unit to use as a Zigbee2MQTT server for my homelab since I needed something that runs X86 rather than ARM so I can use my preferred backup solution (For the intended purpose it is infact overpowered)Overall it's a cracking little PC, the N100 CPU is nice and speedy and for such a small device it has a reasonable amount of IO. If you wanted a little HTPC, emulator box or a media server (Providing storage is elsewhere) these are grand little devicesHowever, this isn't my first rodeo with these style of systems and whilst they are great they do often have quirks that you wouldn't see on a HP/Lenovo equivelant, there is a reason why they are cheaper. This unit like the other N100 systems from Beelink, Topton, Qotom etc suffers from the annoying problem of not having a unique system serial. To a normal person using this as a PC etc this isn't a problem however if you are a meddler or planning on backing up the system using Veeam or Synology backup this will cause you a headache if you happen to have another system made by one of these brands as there is a good chance you will get an error along the lines of "UUID not unique, unable to backup".Now this isn't the end of the world as solutions such as Veeam offer a work around in that you can normally get away making a manual file in their config to specify a created UUID but if you are unlucky to have a solution that hasn't thought of that you are out of luck since the UEFI doesn't allow you to set your own serial etc to be incorporated into the units UUID.In terms of the rest of the unit it's compact, has an additional M.2 slot on the inside which can be populated with a smaller SSD etc if needed. The two USB3 ports on the rear of the unit are adequately shielded from the other IO which is a nice surprise as that can often be a quirk with these systems where you need to use extender cables to avoid the ports faulting, likewise the front ones can both be used without issue as well. The system also came in a nice slick package like the Beelink units.Overall, great little device, a bit rough around the edges on the internal UEFI etc but for most people it will be fine for your chosen use 🙂
