The Proposal's" Sandra Bullock; Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church; and "The Hangover's" Bradley Cooper star in a hilarious tale of a woman who; after falling hard for a guy; thinks they're an item; unfortunately; he thinks she's stalking him! Bullock's Mary Horowitz is a cruciverbalist - a crossword puzzle constructor. Her brain spins at warp speed with an endless stream of arcane information. She can come up with the perfect word - and dozens with the same meaning - at a moment's notice; but "normal" behavior eludes her. Take; for example; the fact that she lives with eccentric parents. Or her inability to engage in social intercourse without dropping a litany of twenty-dollar words and unleashing a tsunami of trivia. Then; there's the matter of her omnipresent fire-engine-red go-go boots. For Mary; nothing is typical; especially relationships. When she is set up on a blind date with handsome cable-news cameraman Steve; Mary thinks the chemistry is undeniable - that Steve is "the one." Steve; on the other hand; thinks Mary is crazy. Mary; who just knows she's found her soul mate; decides to do anything and go anywhere to be with him. She begins to pursue Steve relentlessly as he crisscrosses the country; covering breaking news stories. Mary's escalating infatuation with Steve is encouraged by the self-serving actions of news reporter Hartman Hughes (Thomas Haden Church); who enjoys torturing his insolent cameraman at every opportunity. With Mary never far behind and Hartman urging her on; Steve becomes increasingly unhinged. But when Mary becomes embroiled in the news story of the year; Steve and Hartman begin to see her differently. Hartman is plagued by guilt; knowing his game of one-upmanship with Steve has placed her squarely in harms way; while Steve is feeling his own pangs of remorse at his callous behavior. Despite the media storm surrounding her; Mary with her upbeat; unaffected manner brings together a small community of new friends. And all who encounter Mary will realize that sometimes the ones who don't fit in are the ones who really stand out.]Woman pulls out all the stops to land the man of her dreams.]0]]Phil Traill]]]Sandra Bullock]Bradley Cooper]Thomas Haden Church]Ken Jeong]DJ Qualls]Katy Mixon]Howard Hesseman]Beth Grant]Keith David]

Title: If you need a good laugh, this is the movie.
Review: If you like Sandra Bullock and you like a good comedy watch this movie it is so funny. I’ve watched it about five times and I still find things I have haven’t seen before? I laugh a lot at her character and that’s good for the soul. This is really a great movie!!

Title: Cheesy, but important themes and a creative main character
Review: This is a movie that will, at several times, make you cringe. It has the quintessential cheesy vibes of the 2000s. The characters are not particularly likable and for the first chunk of the movie the main character, Mary, was annoying to the point of being unredeemable. I was surprised when, after awhile, I started to notice her quirks - though aggravating, had an edge that was admirable. She's the perfect example of someone very naive, maintaining an intense optimism and lack of social awareness. Repeatedly it is highlighted how she is not normal - and for awhile she wavers about continuing to be herself. But in the end, as awkward and weird and socially disruptive as she is, she decides to be herself despite all her challenges and sometimes cruel consequences of her personality. Throughout the movie you start to see her overwhelming knowledge of seemingly inconsequential facts help in the face of problems. The movie closes with the sentiment that you shouldn't change to be "normal," and accepted by the majority. You just have to find people in life that align with your level or version of "normal." I think the message of this movie is a good one - there will always be people out there that you can connect with, no matter how alone you might feel. We all have our own types of weird and too often in society we pretend and mask our quirks in favor of acceptance. That prevents us from making real, meaningful connections. You'll likely find most characters annoying and parts cringe worthy, but the movie is entertaining enough. Especially when you've been watching too many crime shows with violence or anything with heavier themes like I have. I wouldn't say there is that much "content" - there's a make out scene that indicates leading to more, but doesn't actually happen. There are some moments with sexual content, but they are brief.

Title: A heartwarming joy of a flick
Review: This was an unexpected joy of a movie. I thought all the actors, especially Sandra B, did a fantastic job. Mary, SB's character appears to be maybe on the spectrum of Asperger syndrome with an encyclopedia intelligence, funny/ quirky mannerisms, obsession, etc; and a knowing of self determination of who she is. Literally LOL funny. It's over the top and yet one of the most heartwarming movies I've seen. Forshadowed Spoiler: My only complaint is that when she meets the deaf girl, Mary doesn't know ASL; to the next scene, all of a sudden, she knows what the girl is signing, and then Mary signs back the word: again. When did she learn ASL, lol? But, this is really a great hearted spirited movie with the overall theme being: Stay true to You, Sparkle on & find your tribe. May we all be as true to ourselves as Mary Horowitz.

Title: Be open minded and not too serious, it's a comedy!
Review: I read in a news link to some piece of tabloid trash that said Sandra Bullock received a Razzie for this film. I decided to watch it because she was quoted as saying what I considered to be a convincing defense for the film and her performance.A lot of people have been really hard on this movie, and I'm glad I gave it a chance. It's quirky, goofy and lighthearted, so if you watch it expecting a typical romantic comedy where "boy meets girl and they fall head over heels in love against all odds" or you are looking for some kind of life-changing message ... then I'm predicting that you'll be disappointed. All About Steve is a spoof with over the top characters who demonstrate particular personality traits to an extreme. Sandra Bullock was portrayed as a satirical version of a person with an IQ that's off the charts but appears to have very little common sense, can be annoying as hell because their brain is in overdrive most of the time, and they have no clue as to when they should simply keep their mouths shut. It's like their head is so full that they can hardly contain all of the information they have. Her character is so much like some of the total brainiacs I've known: a plethora of information (often seemingly useless until you need it), a tendency to talk incessantly, and they often don't pay much attention to what other people think of them. But those same people can are oftten very compassionate and don't intend to distance, offend or hurt others with their words or actions ... sometimes it seems like they can't help but say exactly what's on their mind regardless of the subject matter, circumstances or the company they're in.Without being too serious or losing the tongue-in-cheek aspect of the plot, the movie touches on the other side of that type of personality and the trouble those individuals might have relating to others - and vise versa. Maybe you need to have known a similar person to appreciate the humor in this movie ... or at the very least be in the mood to watch an off the wall comedy with an underlying theme that might subtly inspire you to at least consider people for who they really are or take a closer look before you casually write them off. It's a COMEDY! It's not intended to be a deep, philosophical drama. My review probably sounds defensive and overly serious for a movie that is intended to be funny and entertaining. Well, I certainly found it to be both. I can only imagine how much it sucks to have people annihilate you while you should be reveling in the victory of winning an Oscar. It just goes to show you that the price you pay for fame is living under a microscope 24/7.Give this movie a chance and hopefully you'll have a few laughs. If it's not your thing, don't write this movie off and make it sound like a failure on the part of those involved simply based on your personal taste in movies or what you typically expect from the actors that were involved.

Review: I think most people who have given this film a bad review have totally missed the point of the film and not given credit where it's due, I mean it is a comedy, if your wanting an award winning masterpiece then look elsewhere but if you want a silly comedy to have a good old laugh then look no further, this had the whole family in stitches and the film ends on a lovely heart warming high with a positive message that everyone should take from it .I think this film shows just how varied Sandra Bullock's acting talent is, yes the character Mary is odd and quite annoying but that is how the character is supposed to be and we end up loving her and rooting for her anyway. If you like a great comedy and aren't above a few silly gags then I would highly recommend this film, don't be put off by bad reviews like I was for a long time, judge for yourself and make sure you watch to the end as it gets better as it goes along and the last 20 minutes or so are what really made me love it .
