Title: Good sound
Review: This is a system from the 1980's....not really but it looks and feels that way. It is very simple, well made and the sound is good. If you're looking for a system that will shake the walls, this is not it. This unit is a low priced, well made. good system. The speakers are smaller but the sound is good. Overall it's simple, easy to use, easy to hook up and does the job.

Title: It has a clear and solid sound
Review: I like the size. Its small, yet surprisingly heavy...as a quality piece of equipment should be. Has a good, clear bass sound.

Title: Excellent value
Review: Very easy to set up, nothing too complicated. Works right out of the box.More than loud enough for a large living room with no distortion even when playing music very loud. But the sound quality is nothing mind blowing. However much better than one would expect in this price range.

Title: Nice little unit
Review: I purchased this for my teen daughter as a birthday present. In the present time, it's hard to find something like this anymore. The amp and speakers are decent, and it can play CDs, from an Aux input, or stream via Bluetooth. The unit is easy to setup, and it sounds pretty good for the price. My unit arrived with a European AC power cord, despite being sold in the USA. Since it automatically adjusts to either 120/240 volts, all I needed was a plug adapter, which was easier than returning it for a replacement. Other than that, she loves it and uses it everyday.

Title: Balanced and full sound
Review: Recommend for TV use and listening to music. Fills up the living room perfectly without being too overpowering. Music sounds nice and I like that you can choose a few different sound modes. For TV use, I use the Aux function and a converter to plug into my TV’s optical port. When using with my TV, I have the volume on the stereo system in the high 20s, and I leave it there — from there, I adjust the TV volume on rather than adjusting the stereo system volume.I also appreciate that the speakers aren’t huge and don’t take up a ton of room. The only thing I don’t like is that the clock doesn’t stay on the screen. It shows up momentarily when you press the clock button on the remote, but that makes the clock function somewhat useless. Still a very good product though.

Title: If You are using the sound system in your bedroom you can tie in your television
Review: I have been looking for a mini stereo system with high-quality sound that I can use with all my devicesI am a 70 year old audiophile (Sounds like an extinct dinosaur done it!)So I had high expectationsHere were my requirementsI wanted a CD player because I like listening to books on tape in the CD formatI wanted Bluetooth connectivity so I could listen to my music and audiobooks from streaming services like my library or AmazonI have a 60 inch TV and I wanted to tie my TV into the audio to take a vantage of the high Fidelity that streaming services like Amazon prime offersNo this does not support seven speakers Dolby Atmos etc. but it does allow you to plug-in your right and left channel from your TV into the Philips systemYou might think well that’s not hard to find…WrongI have yet to find a small footprint receiver to sit on top of my dresser below the TV it doesn’t look like what I have in my home theater in my living roomThis Phillips system fit my needs and a very affordable price pointIt pushes 60 watts for channel with reasonably low distortion to drive my Bose speakersIt’s very intuitive to operate the CD player, Connect to my phone or connect to my TV with a push of a buttonAlso not found on other models from other vendors it has different sound algorithms to match your requested sound field

Title: Philips M4205: Good sound, poor functionality
Review: First, the positives: This system sounds very nice considering the price point. It was easy to set up and its footprint is small. The Negatives: I bought this bookshelf system for one feature. Specifically to be able to play music from my iPod and iPhone. The unit does neither. Nor does the bluetooth work. I set it up and plugged in my iPod. The LED display says its reading the files and then displays a message saying "No USB". I checked the connection (its connected) then tried a different device. Same result. I went to Philips website for support and downloaded the user guide. The guide states the system won't work with some devices (it doesn't specify which). A BIG negative like that should have been mentioned in the product description.Another negative in my opinion is the chintzy feel of the controls and the less than smooth opening and closing of the CD tray. My expectation is this unit won't last very long, however, given the size of the box and the hassle factor to return for a refund, I will just keep it and play CD's for as long as it lasts. Overall I would not recommend this product. If you are still set on buying one, do yourself a favor and make sure it will interface with your MP3 player & bluetooth.**UPDATE**March 31, 2023 I have made several attempts to contact Philips for support to find out why my mp3 devices don't work with USB connection. All I get are automated responses from the company saying they will respond in 24-48 hours. They never actually address my issues. In addition the CD player has begun to make intermittent, loud clicking noises when playing CD's. In light of the poor customer support and poor performance of the unit that was purchased less than 3 months ago, I would strongly recommend AGAINST purchase of this CD player.
