Title: These work great on my small dog
Review: These clippers are perfect for trimming a dog's nails. I have a black and tan Pomeranian and her nails are black and hard to see. I slide a white piece of card stock under the nail and over the paw, so I can see what I'm doing. These clippers are sharper and very quiet compared to the other clippers I have used. I no longer fear cutting black nails when I use these. I just take off the tips and then come back a week later and do the long ones again. Easy peasy when someone else holds the dog and i have good lighting. The lady in this listing is holding the clippers in the wrong direction.

Title: Pooch Pedicures Made Easy!
Review: My poor old spaniel is getting up there in years. Blind as a bat, going deaf, and his hips are giving out. All he has left is his appetite and tummy rubs. Taking him to the groomer is stressful for him--and sheer anguish for me. I can't shave his fur in the summer, but I can spare him the visits just for nail trimming...now that I've discovered the Safari Professional Pet Nail Trimmer. The clippers are surprisingly easy to use, the cut is clean and precise, and you don't need tremendous pressure to cut straight through. I was afraid of hitting the dreaded quick and making my little guy bleed, but a quick check on Google for nail cutting tips (and simple but excellent instructions on the packaging of these clippers) made that a non-problem too. Just look at the underside of the dog's nail. Even on blackest nails, you can see the pinker or lighter part of the nail, which is the quick. Place the clippers a bit above that (in the direction away from the foot pad) and you're fine. My first time clipping Stanley nails was a cinch. And believe me, this dog has feet the size of saucers and nails to match. Thick as pinky fingers.I waited until Stanley was sleeping (he has never been a dog with lightening like reflexes...even as a youngster, people meeting him for the first time always thought he was dead, took a paw, checked to see where the "quick" ended and 'snip' -- that fast, that simple. About halfway through the pedicure he woke up, but not sensing any food in the immediate area, dozed back off again so I could complete the job.My niece has a little poodle who is also pushing the envelope in terms of age. However, her dog doesn't have my Stanley's sweet disposition and is on the No Fly List at most of the groomers in town. She asked me if I'd do the dog's nails for her. I guess she figured I'm older and have less to live for. Anyway, we got a big pile of treats ready. My niece kept tossing them into the dog's mouth, distracting her, while I went to work on the nails. This is the same trick my manicurist uses with me and it worked equally well with the dog.If you've been considering trimming your dog's nails yourself, these are a very good tool. Dogs'nails grow very quickly; they need frequent trimming. The nails are connected to the leg bones and when they get too long, can jar the animal and make walking uncomfortable--particular in dogs with hip problems and/or arthritis and other joint issues. These affordable clippers cost about what a single nail clipping does at the groomers, so it's money well spent.

Title: Great Trimmers!
Review: I bought these to replace a pair I'd lost after 11 years. I'm glad that I was able to purchase the exact same trimmers. They've been great for taking care of my German Shepherd. I've trimmed her nails at least once per month and these trimmers have held up admirably, working smoothly each time and never dull. Highly recommend!

Title: Remove the nail guard to prevent rust
Review: Good solid nail clippers. I've had them for two years and they've been used weekly on my golden retriever and the blades are still sharp. I ordered the small/medium size when she was a puppy and it was nice to have clippers to match the size of her paws. Easy to clip her nails without accidentally taking too much. I never use the nail guard. I find it gets in the way more than it helps, so I removed it. The first year they functioned perfectly. Over the second year they've begun to "stick" a bit due to some rust build up in the joint/hinge point. When I clip a nail they no longer spring all the way open when I relax my hand. I have to manually open the handle to be able to clip the next nail. Fixed that by loosening the screw/nut but it's probably going to be a long term problem. Looks like the nail guard was lesser quality metal and the source of most of the rust. I'll remove it asap next time to lengthen the life of the clippers.I never get them wet and keep them clean (stored in a ziplock bag) so they shouldn't be rusting. Kinda disappointing but they were super cheap and have lasted 2 years with regular use, and their functionality will likely outlast my patience with the rust.I'm tall (6' woman) with larger than average hands and if/when I order another one I'll get the large size. My golden is full grown now so hopefully the bigger size won't be too big, but the longer handle will be more comfortable for my hands.

Review: My dog hates getting her nails cut. She has black nails and has had them cut too short in the past which has proven very traumatic to her so she just generally doesn't like the whole process even though she is the sweetest dog ever and is usually extremely easy going. But taking her to a professional groomer on a regular basis just to get her nails done was expensive and a pain in the butt and I just didn't have the time so it wasn't getting done as often as it should which isn't good for her. So I decided to give doing her nails myself another go. But I wanted to make sure I got the best clippers possible and did my research first. I read all the reviews and finally settled on these. They really are as good as everyone says they are. They are nice and sharp and really strong so they go straight through the nail instead of crunching down painfully like some of the cheaper models. This makes the process quick and easy so I have been able to slowly get her adjusted to getting them done and it has been going well. I don't know how long they will stay sharp for but as soon as they start getting dull, I will definitely purchase another pair.Would highly recommend!

Review: To be totally honest, I was not expecting much from these but I took a chance. These are not the first clippers I have tried, I must have tried 6-8 different ones prior to this from various pet stores (most more expensive than these). My dogs nails are very difficult to cut, they are boxers so they have very thick nails. Most clippers would damage the nail and never provide a good clean cut - frustrating for both me and the dogs. However much to my surprise, these were VERY easy to use, and provided a perfect clean cut every time. My girl - who by the way never likes her nails cut - let me cut her nails without a fit (which is HUGE because I usually need to wrestle her into position to let me cut her nails). I was able to cut all her nails within the time it usually took me to do about 3 nails on her, colour me impressed!Very sharp, very easy to use, nail guard is sturdy, good size, not awkward to hold & you can pick them up for a fraction of what regular retail stores charge for similar products (which may I add do not work nearly as well). Great value and I can now look forward to cutting my dogs nails rather than dreading it. Thank you!
