Title: Perfect for our carport and porch!
Review: We live in southern Louisiana, where mosquitoes are a fact of life for most of the year. I imagine things would be even worse if not for a government operated mosquito abatement program, but the little blood suckers are still pretty bad, especially in darker areas where the air mostly is still, such as under our "carport" (enclosed on 2 sides by buildings and 1 side by a garage door) and in our small front porch area. It's bad enough getting eaten alive while outside, but since mosquitoes hang around near our exterior doors, they also tend to get into our house as we come and go...*and* to get into our cars! We tried those mesh screens on the doors, which cut back on the # of mosquitoes that would get into the house, but did nothing for us while we were outside, or to keep them from getting into our cars. We installed an oscillating fan under the carport, but it didn't really offer much benefit, which is just as well, since running it constantly would probably get expensive. We've used citronella incense, but that's more useful if we're going to be outside for a while, not for the minute or 2 it takes us to get out the door and into the car. Bug zappers weren't much use against mosquitoes. And while personal bug repellent sprays definitely help...well, who wants to live their entire life feeling greasy and smelling like Skin So Soft?! Because that's what it would take to keep from getting bitten while outside, in the house, and in our cars too. No, we needed something that would work constantly, outdoors, preferably without electricity, to repel mosquitoes from our carport and porch area at all times.Honestly, I wasn't optimistic when I bought our first Patio Egg. I figured it would become just one more product on a growing list of things we'd tried that didn't work. The product packaging says something to the effect of "no need to wonder if it's working, if you can smell it, it's working". What worried me was that initially, I couldn't smell the thing, and most of the time I still don't notice a fragrance. I really don't know what more to say except that this thing really does work, and now we own 2, one for outside of each door. The first one I purchased I hung up under the carport using the little macrame sack that comes with the egg. I was concerned that one egg wouldn't be enough for a 2-car carport, but a second egg for the area hasn't really been necessary. This is probably because I hung the egg close to the "outer" open side of the carport. I figured if we could keep them from coming up under the carport in the first place, we might not need a second one to protect the "inner" area. Ever since I hung up the first one, our carport has been mosquito-free. No more mosquitoes in the cars, no more mosquitoes in the house, and if we need to take our time under the carport loading stuff into the cars (or whatever), we don't get eaten up. The fragrance is clean and similar to citronella, and it's usually pretty mild, barely noticeable unless the wind happens to be blowing the right way. In terms of products that constantly repel mosquitoes from covered, semi-enclosed areas, these things really can't be beat. The only "drawbacks" to this product are unavoidable. The way the egg works, the repellent oil gets soaked up by the clay egg and diffuses into the air as it gets drawn upwards through the clay. For this to happen, the egg needs to remain dry, which means it must be placed in an area where it won't get wet. I don't really see this as a problem. I suppose you could buy a couple more Patio Eggs to place out in your yard only when you're outside and it's not raining, but we just use citronella incense and SSS when we're out in the yard. The other issue is that more oil needs to be added every couple of weeks. Keep this in mind when deciding where to position your Patio Egg if you'll be placing it and leaving it out to constantly repel mosquitoes. I'm still trying to come up with a better place to put the one that we use under the carport, because having to get out a ladder to take it down and refill it is a bit inconvenient. But it beats itching and scratching at mosquito bites any day!

Title: Miami apartment balcony / cat approved
Review: It works for me! I live on the second floor in a Miami apartment with three cats. The scent does not bother them at all, and it definitely reduces the number of mosquitos we get inside (I hang mine on the inside of the sliding glass balcony door). Don't expect a cure-all as I don't think that really exists, but this is definitely effective enough to be worth the money and a much healthier solution than daily deet

Title: GOT "NO SEE UMS" TEARING YOU UP? NO MORE.
Review: Kiss em goodbye. Mosquito too they don't dare. Upon Install: 99% of night woods marsh bayou nocturnal fliers/insect's don't & won't approach & or come to me. I've huge attractors too: outdoor "led lighting" all around me at outdoor kitchen. Don't be stengy if your serious about results like me why use only one how's that logical; the more air round you affected saturated immersed etc the better as u & I both see how this works. So I circle or square myself with 4. Don't we all have 4 directions to us N, S, E, & West? If you can think of it; it flies/buzzes near me NO MORE day & night in my wood's. If you only place 3 incircling you verses my 4, I don't see how u can expect the performance I'm getting? Id have to try 3 to see but I don't wanna. Obviously the further you/me are from them the more night flyers will get to you/us. (One in corner) is wrong your defeating purpose strangling it too death. Place where their in the most air exposure around you so it can disperse saturate contamination etc it's fumes r whatever I smell occasionally. Nice smell too- me being a male I can't identify but I rarely smell them. When I very rarely do it's pleasent aroma like spruce pine I dunno just guessing. Sunset's and Sunrises (that's critical times) I'm here; described above; & money can't buy this performance as U KNOW how bad woods flyers are at these those times. Since this is my outdoors kitchen I'm probably sleeping etc way closer to them than say on a porch and outdoor pool deck etc so maybe I'm not good info 4 u since I'm always within 5 feet of at least one of them I dunno. I'm using the eggs & the spray bottle repellant loving them both. Performance equals my lifetime minimum performance i personally love:: the 40% Deet Skin Spray I've always used. & may blow it OUTA the water much better but I'm in early test months stages. Hottest months of summer gonna be the test conditions I need for proper evaluation of egg & repellent. Ohhh-- their 4 hour long burning yard sticks I'm loving like crazy. I disperse & or deliberately direct drive steer the incense smoke better AND the directions I want with my $20 dollar ocillating pedastal fan. Obviously these eggs working 24 7s is Game Changer advantages over the Incense Sticks and skin sprays; BUT the Incense Smoke warns all flier's WAAYY further than the egg zone due to ocillating fan I use to control direct steer smoke:: To Stay Put don't even think of coming this direction as the Incense is best with and at covering long distances carried in/by air. I use electric fan(s). Eggs are more like:: "Stay inside us" but WOW works on decks, patios, swimming pool areas, etc etc like Incense works across say? a football field, our yard's, etc when u/we electric fan steer where we need the smoke. My next plan is this:: Go further out 10? 20? Yard's from my current 4 eggs surrounding my seating area with another layer of 4 & then Evaluation & Adjust depending on Performance. It's like enlarging my totally screened in outdoor area without any contractor & county permits spending major on screen room enclosure new construction. Because no flyer's dare try to get to me now with 4; how could I not clear out an area the size of a football field deep in any swamp on planet earth if I wanted too? At first I was dead set on only 3 eggs evenly spaced around me. But 4 is:: one for each entry direction N, S, E, & West. In 120 degree wet bulb heat humidity & power lines broken no fan on you a few months from unlivable temperatures; better yet:: please sit n chair overnight tonight 4pm till 8am experiencing sunset and sunrise to experience the quantities of flying insects we have now due to hotter climate last 3 decades. Regardless food & water stocked if u don't stock these 4 a world event how would you make it even 1 night. AND; 1. Destructive Drying Out Direct U V Sun Ray's and 2. Destructive Water including Fog & each nights Wetness Dew being these liquid oil dispersant egg's enemies; why wouldn't I protect them from those? So I use the large cheap $10 dollar Open Bottomed "Roofed" Bird Cages I find everywhere online. No pretty bamboo roof cage lol. Put a roof 100% rain & sun proof above each egg. As ur aware, Mosquito Bites start at feet/ground level. So I hang every egg with shoe string & similar to quickly easily raise & lower each one as needed. The more I sit the more I need em ten inches from ground/floor. Me & you standing up, us hanging or placing these higher than our knee's or hips makes no sense to me cause the egg difuses releases the Geraniol Smell easier sideways & up; not down due to its liquid containment non porous bottom. Put Another Way:: Above 5 gallon bucket height high; we better start asking ourselves:: "why"? Course; I'm continuing to evale placements unending cause i wanna be 100% ON with my heights & placements. But since feet level BITES STINGS are so bad on this planet; wouldn't surprise me at all if best placements for these is on ground/floor or one foot above ground/floor. I've been lowering mine weekly as I initially had a tendency to put them above hip high which left hip to ground/floor unprotected & unaffected. & Performance Remains Still Today: 99 to 100% effective. I can stay nakid here in my marsh bayou bay wood's here 24 7S if wanna. This is unheard of to even think of since I look like Elvis Presley. Plus who'd believe me/us/u these eggs r this level effective they've never seen nor imagined. All my eggs r 2 feet above ground after starting at 4 at first. I oughta stop this slow test & put em on ground floor tmrw & see what happens. Or NEVER above 1 or 2 feet high. And staggering every one's height is even better. No two at same height. Having 8, 12, etc around me wouldn't bother me at all "because of what they do": I'm in the woods yet all flying insects have been deleted from me. How process this? I can't see anyone believing me or you about this until they experience it. With these egg's I don't need the yard stick's but wanting them allows me to disperse repellent much further away than the egg's perimeter. Maybe overkill but that's how bad I want no flying insects approaching my vicinity.

Review: I really wanted this to work. We are in the middle of a mosquito plague. I read all the good reviews and felt optimistic about my purchase.I put it under a covered porch. It made no difference. Not even a little bit. Smells good, maybe mosquitos think so too because they are certainly not repelled by it.

Review: The Patio Egg Diffuser arrived on time, and the aroma is pleasant, with an essential geranium scent that is natural, and not overpowering. I noticed right away that there were fewer mosquitoes, hence less bites to treat, without using any additional spray or body lotion. My husband likes the scent, as well. I plan to purchase another one, for wider area coverage, although this single diffuser does a great job for sitting in a small group.

Review: I love to sit outside in the warmer months, but over the last few years the mosquito have gotten so bad in our area I dreaded being outside. This egg did the trick and then some! I was able to comfortably sit outside all summer and enjoy the beautiful sun and not have to wear terrible stinky bug spray.
