Darkness lives within....

Cash strapped, working for agencies and living in shared accommodation, Stephanie Booth feels she can fall no further. So when she takes a new room at the right price, she believes her luck has finally turned. But 82 Edgware Road is not what it appears to be.

It's not only the eerie atmosphere of the vast, neglected house or the disturbing attitude of her new landlord, Knacker McGuire, that makes her uneasy - it's the whispers behind the fireplace, the scratching beneath floors, the footsteps in the dark and the young women weeping in neighbouring rooms. And when Knacker's cousin, Fergal, arrives, the danger goes vertical.

But this is merely a beginning, a gateway to horrors beyond Stephanie's worst nightmares. And in a house where no one listens to the screams, will she ever get out alive?

Title: An exceptionally good horror novel!
Review: An exceptionally good horror novel! I was amazed at Mr. Nevill’s superb prose and skill in characterization as well. The good people were likable and elicited a great deal of my compassion and empathy, whereas the evil were amazingly foul and demonic (often literally!) and stuck in my mind as really, really awful! All of which—when combined with great narrative and writing—combined to make them and what they encountered uncomfortably real to me.In addition, Mr. Nevill’s imagination of really dark and creepy themes and environments is in class by itself too. His ability to scare the crap out of you is simply incredible! All in all, a thoroughly dark and beautifully horrific journey into hell and deeper! Such a treat!

Title: Don't bother with the movie, but the book is a great read.
Review: I enjoyed this book thoroughly. Definitely going to look for more by this author. Watched the movie after and the only thing in common with the book is that it's a haunted house with female ghosts very loosely based on a premise. Don't want to ruin the book by saying more.

Title: Had to put it down and watch something cute on TV multiple times!
Review: OH my God who is Adam Nevill and what has he done with horror fiction? After reading his entire canon, I must say I'm hooked. Nevill has single handedly restored my interest and faith in the modern horror story. Each of his books is slightly different, the scares come from different angles. This one was higher on the violence and gore factor and as a woman, there were definitely parts that had me uncomfortably squirming in my seat. But the author is a genius, a master at a good fright. When Stephanie gets locked into the dark room and you just know Black Mag is in there....oh my God, I had to put the book down because I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep if I met her. Awful, twisted, and desperate characters are Nevill's forte and he does it oh so well. To paraphrase another great horror writer , " Adam Nevill, I am your number one fan." Cheers and keep the books coming!

Title: Great First Half
Review: The first three-quarters of this book was a page-turner. It was utterly terrifying and strangely enthralling in that I had a hard time putting it down despite some of the more gruesome scenes. However, the last 200+ pages, although I really wanted to like it as much, was a slog. It went on about 150 pages too long, and I found the ending a bit disappointing.

Title: Two Books in One
Review: I love Adam Neville's stories, and I did really love No One Gets Out Alive, but he really should have broken this out into two novels as it essentially is. The first half (book 1) is terrifying right from the get up and really shows how crushingly trapped someone can truly be.The second half (book 2) is essentially the sequel of how the protagonist moved and and deals with the aftermath of book 1. You could totally just not read the second half and be satisfied 100%.

Title: Dark,very dark and gloomy.
Review: This book leaves you feeling depressed, down, hopeless. A very dark, atmospheric novel.I found myself reading several pages then having to walk away to clear my thoughts. I love this book.I want a book with " atmosphere" and that is all this book produces. All of the emotions this novel created in me, felt a whole lot like all of my chilling dreams I have been awaken in the middle of the night from.A very haunting book. I recommend it to all horror fans.

Title: A delicious ride into darkness!
Review: The pace of this book kept me intrigued from the first chapter! The author took his time and truly made "Stephanie" someone I felt empathy for and could relate to. Her despair as a struggling young woman who wanted to believe in better was genuine and I wanted to know her story and to experience what she does! The house of horrors was beautifully crafted and each new "inhabitant" was introduced with not only a gritty description but also provided a memorable emotional-imprint of sorts and sometimes it seemed, even a palatable scent! A genuine ghost/ horror tale that left me turning pages into the night but also afraid for what might be revealed. The end was solid and satisfying and one of the best in this genre I've read in a while.I intend to enjoy more of Mr. Nevill's work!

Title: Review for No one gets out alive
Review: At first was kept spellbound by Steph's stay in the house of horrors. The last few chapters were repetitions and I lost interest.

Review: This is the longest book I've ever read and it was totally worth the time! I never felt it dragging on. Very interesting story! I tried watching the movie after I finished the book and I shut it off after 20 mins. How is the movie even based on the book? It's so loosely based, it's mind blowing.

Review: Pensé que sería una buena historia y que me atraparía. Empieza super bien pero por ahí de la página 300 empieza a sentirse todo muy repetitivo. Dejé de leerlo en la página 400. Ya no disfrutaba seguir.

Review: The story is more or less divided into two parts with the former being more enjoyable than the latter. I'm not at all a horror reader but it was surprisingly good expecially for someone who doesn't care much about the supernatural aspects of fiction.
