Title: A Must-Have For Lovers of These Genres
Review: **I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review**This book is exactly as the title suggests: The author gives you 35 movies that fit in the categories of Dark, Dangerous, Thrilling, and Noir Cinema. What the author delivers is not only a description of top movies in those categories, but detailed descriptions of each movie. He also gives you descriptions of what was happening at the time that influenced the particular movie and facts that contributed to them if applicable. He also tells about movies that are similar as well as his own opinion. The movies he covers span from the 1940s-1980s and are from all over the world. He includes movies I know with names like the late great Humphrey Bogart, Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick. While I enjoyed this book, people that aren't familiar with these genres or aren't into them probably wouldn't have nearly the enthusiasm I had. This book has definitely added movies to my must-see list.

Title: Not Just Film Noir
Review: Some of the films discussed here are distinctly "films noir" in the most correct sense. Other are classic gangster pics of the Thirties and Forties. Many, like "Sunset Boulevard", are masterpieces that go beyond categories. Why not five stars? The book's too short!
