Title: Great idea, but canât taste much
Review: My husband was excited to try out these cocktail cubes, as he really likes Old Fashioneds. Very nice, full-color packaging - suitable for gifting. Convenient size trays to slip into a bar freezer. Very easy to use - freeze, put one in a glass, add a shot or a spritz, shake or stir until melted.Unfortunately, there wasnât much flavor - could hardly taste anything other than the base whiskey.

Title: Basic old fashioned flavor profile
Review: I live just off the bourbon trail, but close enough for bourbon to be influential and a staple. Everyone has their old fashioned preferences, some sweeter, some more herbal, etc. this ice cube is pretty neutral for me, itâs a fairly basic old fashioned profile, and decent for building onto. I do feel like the prices is a bit steep.

Title: Iâm fairly picky about old fashioneds, and these mixer cubes were pleasantly surprising
Review: Used to live in the middle of the Bourbon Trail and old fashioneds are practically a way of life there. Because of this I ended up becoming very picky (not quite snob status, just particular about them) about how old fashioneds are made. I almost passed on trying these Herb & Louâs blood orange and ginger old fashioned cubes because I was afraid theyâd be too sweet for my liking and wasnât sure how I felt about the ginger. Glad I didnât.To my very pleasant surprise, these cubes are quite good. Theyâre balanced in both flavor and sweetness. The ginger isnât overly strong, and the citrus from the blood orange is bright and mildly candy like. For the first old fashioned I used a barrel proof rye. I wanted to see how the flavor would hold up to a strong, spicy profile. Again, to my very pleasant surprise both profiles blended beautifully and actually complimented each other. The old fashioned reminded me of my grandmaâs old orange spice cake recipe. I am sold.Only minor complaint is the price - $25 for a box of 12 cubes does seem high, but in the grand scheme of things even with a decent lower shelf whiskey, an old fashioned made with these cubes at $2.08 per cube is still cheaper than ordering them at the bar. These are for the occasional splurge. Also, donât have to use these with just whiskey - box even says you can use them in seltzer water and with other spirits.I am definitely happy I got to try these Herb & Louâs blood orange+ginger old fashioned cubes and plan to order more. Iâm also definitely interested in trying their other infused cubes - The Seymour in particular has my attention.P.S. - hereâs one of my favorite old fashioned variations I experienced while living in Kentucky: Old Forester 1910 + rich Demerara simple + black walnut bitters with an Amarena cherry.

Title: good idea for mixers, lacking flavor
Review: i love a good old fashioned and was excited to try these. They're not bad, but I wish the flavor was stronger. If they were, they'd be much more worth the price. They would be a great gift, though, if cost isn't an issue.

Title: Great Taste, Novel Idea
Review: I am a big fan of bourbon old fashioneds, and was excited to try this product. The recipe on the box seems spot on, however you'll want to double it up for an average size cocktail. It's also definitely better if you've a nice cherry and/or orange slice on hand. The mix tastes pretty ideal in my view. You can't replicate a muddled old fashioned with a kit like this, but for a straight up old fashioned, I think this hits the spot. But, if you followed the instructions, you'll end up with a two ounce beverage. You have to at least double, or triple to get a nice cocktail. And if you triple, this kit is actually only giving you four cocktails.I am giving this product five stars because it truly is a tasty old fashioned mix. However, at the current price point, I wouldn't get more of this, because it's really only four cocktails if you want the size of an old fashioned you would order at a bar or restaurant. I would much prefer this as a liquid mix, and would expect at least a gallon for this cost. Still, I am really glad I got to try it, and it truly was delicious. I'll stick to mixing these up from scratch though.

Title: Meh.
Review: You know how everyone adopted a hobby during the pandemic? I got into craft cocktails. It's been 4 years of being the resident mixologist for my family and group of friends. I love making my own simple syrups and infusions while using the freshest possible ingredients to elevate a drink because it really does make a difference. I got this just to try it out. I popped the box in the freezer and a few hours later put two frozen cubes into my cocktail shaker. I poured in 2 shots of good bourbon, 4 Roses (1 shot = 1.5 oz., so 3 oz.), and shook it. It didn't quite dissolve the way I had anticipated so I poured it into a highball and used a fork to mix it and break up the froze cube further. Once I got it all broken up, I poured half of it into a 2nd highball and added two ice cubes to both. We were not impressed. To be fair, we also like our drinks on the sweeter side so I added a bit of our home-made simple syrup and the drink became a bit more palatable. I ended up "doctoring" it up a with fresh orange juice, some ginger beer and a squidge of lime to make it drinkable, but at that point the original taste was gone.
