1941, Nazi-occupied Paris: In the glamorous Ritz hotel there is a woman with a dangerous secret…
As Coco Chanel’s assistant, Adèle lives side by side with German officers in the splendour of The Ritz hotel. But Adèle has a secret. She is working for the resistance, right under the Germans’ noses.
As occupied Paris becomes more and more dangerous, Adèle will have to decide if she can risk everything to save innocent lives and protect the man she loves…
Present day: Chloé’s grandmother has never spoken about the war and avoids questions about the legendary designer she once worked for.
Now Chloé has come to Paris, to uncover the truth about Adèle’s life. But is she prepared for what she will find? And for the power of her grandmother’s secrets to change her family forever…
An absolutely gripping and heartbreaking wartime story of the enduring power of love, for fans of The Lost Girls of Paris and The Nightingale.

Title: Tragic
Review: A painful and heartbreaking story of the suffering of the people of Paris (and France in general) at the hands of the Nazis! This fact based story about Adele, who was the special assistant to Coco Chanel in the 1940's is juxtaposed with the story of Chloe who is taking a "gap year" to visit Paris and work in a small clothing shop! She slowly begins to research her grandmother Adele's connection to Coco Chanel! This ultimately leads her to historical records concerning French collaborators with the Nazis! The vile and horrifying behaviors inflicted upon Jewish persons and resistance agents were emotionally and reprehensiblely recounted! The Dressmakers Secret is a difficult novel to read, and starts to get claustrophobic! The war and it's transition to post-war fallout is ugly and inevitable!Lorna Cook reveals some amazing historical facts while weaving the dual storylines to it's inevitable conclusion! While a slow and revolting novel at times, it's an excellent story about love and loss, evil, moral choices and survival!

Title: Very Good Book that I highly Recommend
Review: I enjoyed reading the book. I was interested in learning more about Coco Chanel's history during the Nazi occupation of Paris and Lorana Cook used most of the available historical documents. I enjoyed both the romance and historical aspects of this novel.

Title: Not great .....
Review: I love reading books about the Resistance during WWII but this book did not hold my interest. It was painfully slow, easy to predict and the last part of the book with wrapped up way to fast in my opinion. The story centers on Coco Chanel and her assistant during the Nazi take over of Paris. The format is the past vs present which for me ruins this book. I feel had the author concentrated on one or the other this would of been a more interesting story. This will not be the worst book you ever read but if your reading time is limited then may I suggest 2 books which I just love A Fire Sparkling by Maclean and the Paris Secret by Natasha Lester

Review: Wow! Lorna Cook has done it again! Another captivating storyline! I canât summarise her latest page-turner any better than Lorna herself: âIâve told a story of a largely forgotten piece of the past in the way I usually try to: with real history, a sweeping romance and a huge element of intrigue.â It is indeed beautifully written and very enjoyable. If you enjoy dual-timeline stories, Lorna Cookâs novels are definitely worth reading.
