Recorded at Hollywood Sound Recorders, Sunset Sound Studio and Davlen Studio, Los Angeles, California. Includes liner notes by Maurice White. Disco was at the height of its popularity in 1979, when Earth, Wind & Fire responded with its most disco-influenced single ever, the glossy and infectious "Boogie Wonderland." Up to that point, EWF had pretty much ignored disco, and when the band finally acknowledged the style, the soulsters weren't about to inundate listeners with it. "Boogie Wonderland" (which features the Emotions, a female group for whom Maurice White had been producing major hits) isn't representative of I Am on the whole. From the hit ballad "After the Love Has Gone" to the exuberant "Let My Feelings Flow," I Am isn't a radical departure from its predecessor, All 'n All. Though not in a class with That's the Way of the World, Spirit, or All 'n All, I Am is a rewarding album that has a lot going for it. ~ Alex Henderson

Review: Well I'm five more cds into completing my Earth Wind and Fire collection. The cds arrived without a broken case or broken CD. They all came with thier own liner notes. So all weekend I will reliving the days of my childhood. Thanks Amazon for this amazing item from an amazing era from my childhood.

Title: Corny & cheesy, energetic, this is a feel-good album, but also very musically interesting. One of my favorites of EWF.
Review: I love this album, I think more so than most EWF fans, as I've heard this album described as a little bit of a let down by some people. It's corny as all get out, but it is energetic and bouncy and makes me feel good. It has a ton of songs on it that I love, especially Can't Let Go, which is probably my favorite Earth Wind & Fire song of all time. There's definitely more disco influence on this album, but the songs are still stylistically varied. If you listen to the songs closely, they are very intricate and often have a lot of complex jazzy things going on. So, while at first listen this album may seem a bit cheesy, I think it delivers the nuance to become a classic for people who want something a little deeper.

Title: Great album on a very good 180g pressing!!
Review: I bought the 180g pressing of this album and sounds great no sibilance as its with most old records. Most new re-pressings sound great with no hiss, pop or cracks. If you like EWF, this is a must have album. I wouldn't normally buy compilation albums as they don't contain the "order of the tracks" as its in the corresponding original album. Most record producers put so much thought and effort on organising tracks on an album, this is compromised the moment you buy a compilation album. I'm not talking about the music produced after 1990s but the music in 60's through to 80s. The vinyl edition is the best format to listen to, with its warmer sounds, detailed highs and depths in vocals. Not that I hate CDs but I simply can't cope with its loudness madness.

Title: Upset that the vinyl is not clear/colored
Review: I am (pun intended) disappointed that the vinyl I received is not clear or colored, as many of the posted images show. Many of the images and reviews state that the vinyl is clear or red, but the one I received is standard black. Granted, the item description does not state that the vinyl is anything out of the ordinary, but the selling plain black vinyl where the item reviews and images show otherwise is deceptive at the least.

Title: FUNKY ARCHIVE
Review: If you were around during the era when Earth,Wind and Fire charted many hits throughout the 70's 80's and even this twenty first century. The afros, fringed bell bottoms, paisley vest, platform shoes, and much more.Once you heard a hit you automatically hit the dance floor.Singing and dancing at the same time.Spirit filled gospeldelic, funky, their music soothed the soul deep down.I personally have this on a LP album but once I saw it on Amazon on a CD i had to own it.I've been listening to it every since. From the first song to the last you'll be mesmerized.Purchase this CD and take the hippest trip you won't regret it.

Review: Love having this recording back. Gave away the vinyl years ago. Such great transitions on this record. And, songs written and produced by the up-and-comer, David Foster.

Klare Empfehlung.
