Title: Brilliantly funny!
Review: The only thing I can complain about is that I've laughed so much and so loudly at Ms. Chast's humor that I annoy my husband. Not the worst thing. So please, buy this book and annoy your spouse! You won't be sorry.

Title: Pilkers
Review: "Theories of Everything" provides us with selections from 28 years of the work of Roz Chast. If you know her work, then explanations are not necessary. In fact, it is difficult to explain her work. That is why I bought this book as a birthday present for one who has not been initiated. Roz Chast presents insights into our culture, society, personal interactions, and a smattering of science, math, and space travel.I will try to deconstruct just one cartoon, e.g., Parallel Universes. As an aspiring physicist, I was taught that a system, e.g., the spin of an electron. can be in two states at the same time. When you measure it, the wave function, the state, collapses into one of the two and voila you have your reality. This is called the Copenhagen interpretation. I never bought into this. Since then, a Many Worlds formulation has been expounded. Here, you make a measurement and the universe splits into two parallel universes. You just happen to be in one of them. How many universes are there? An infinite number! Roz Chast shows us the possible evolution of our universe into many. In frame 1, Mrs. N. is baking cookies. Thus us where we live. In frame 2, Mrs. Vvvv is baking pilkers, Not too different. In frame 3 Tre is baking sppoo. Still recognizable. In frame 4, ... everything is bizarre. This is an accurate representation of Many Worlds. More and more physicists have come to the Many Worlds theory.I encountered Roz Chast once, at the New York City Book Fair in 1982. I mentioned the Pilkers from the Parallel Universes cartoon. She smiled, briefly.

Title: Hilarious
Review: Simply a brilliant book. I bought it for a friend. It hasn't aged much with time. It's still hilarious.

Title: Revelling in Everything
Review: This book is a treasure, just as Roz Chast is. It is chock-a-block with her delightfully eclectic cartoons, rendered in her unique line style and a color palette that is simultaneously faded and splendid. Some are silly, some are fall-down funny, all are enchantingly weird, and a few just slip right by me...I am sure it is my "operator error." Buy the hardcover so that it lasts for generations and zillions of readings. Buy the [paperback if you must, but buy this book and let that $1.83 in direct payment go to Ms. Chast so that she knows just how much we adore her.

Title: All this Roz Chast in one place? For ME!?!
Review: This collection of Roz Chast cartoons brings me great joy and delight. It's fun to watch the evolution of her particular "style" from her earlier works to recent years. All of my favorites are here (i.e. "Inside One's Memory Bank", etc.) Some people don't "get" her, and that's fine with me ("Can't come to the U.S. to buy property -- I have to finish Scrubbing This Teakettle!") She draws some of my favorite cartoon facial expressions ever and I have a secret dream of someday owning an actual cartoon she penned or seeing my likeness as drawn by Roz. Those fantasies may never happen, but in the meantime I forked over the bucks for this great big old book and am so glad that I did. Where else can I relish a world of "Bad Mom" magazine and "The kid who learned about math on the street"?

Title: Theories of Everything Exceeeds Expectations
Review: I've been a fan of Roz Chatz's work for just about 30 years. This amazing compendeum does not dissapoint. It's more than just looking at cartoons. It's a real READ. I spent about two or three weeks perusing this volume. Unlike most "cartoon books" this one has intellectual weight. It is both insightful and F U N N Y! If you are at all familiar with this artist/writer's work than THEORIES OF EVERYTHING is a must for your library.

Title: Difficult to understand, not for everyone.
Review: Many of these cartoons are difficult to understand. The product is of otherwise great quality. I'm not sure if I just don't get the cartoons... But it sort of seemed like some of these might have been the reject cartoons that never went to print in other places. If you like the author's style I would recommend it, otherwise, I would not.

Title: Hilarious in a painful way. On target every time.
Review: Roz Chast is the most insightful and funniest humorist working in any medium, including cartoons, books, movies and television. She has an uncanny knack for seeing the hilarity of awkward moments, but also the eye of a cultural anthropologist in analyzing just how weird we really are here. This book should go into those metal boxes they put in cornerstones of new buildings so that future historians can better understand us. It is that good.

Review: I love Roz Chast's art, sense of humor, and urban perspective. I flip through this when I miss the city and need a good laugh. Fortunately for me, those things often accompany each other.

Review: Another fantastic book from the angst-ridden imagination of Roz Chast. Fans will appreciate this 'omnibus' edition with tons of content. If I could take only one illustrated sort of book to a desert island...

Review: Roz Chast's cartoons are laugh-out-loud funny and needlepoint sharp about the failings and foibles of human beings. Her odd, squiggly drawings are sure to amuse you. You'll find yourself somewhere in her words or pictures! Buy this book.
