An unthinkable tragedy forever changes a group of teens and turns family against family in this edge-of-your-seat thriller that begs to be heard in one sitting.

Best friends Lindsey, Kendra, and Dani endure every parent’s nightmare when a tragic accident befalls their teenage boys, leaving one dead, another in a coma, and a third too traumatized to speak.

Reeling from the worst night of their lives, the three mothers plunge into a desperate investigation of the bizarre incident. How could something so horrible happen in their wealthy Southern California suburb?

They soon discover that the accident was just the beginning, and troubling discoveries lead to chilling questions: Do they really know their children? Do they even know each other? As more secrets surface, a fog of doubt and suspicion threatens to poison their families, their friendships, and the whole community.

With the illusion of happiness and safety long gone, these women must now confront the hazards of heartbreak, the consequences of jealousy, and the dangers of living double lives.

Review: This was heartbreaking, captivating and very well written. The author didn't downplay the emotional turmoil or the situation, but also had you wondering what the real story was. This was my first Lucinda Berry book and will definitely be reading more!

Title: Very captivating!
Review: This book had me hooked with the first page. Loved how all three MC's were written and the growth they all had during their worst part of their lives and how they had been able to stay friends through a horrific tragedy that shook all three of their lives was amazing! This is a quick read so there are wholes here and there where I'd like to have more details/depth but still an overall great read!

Title: interesting… entertaining
Review: The Best of Friends” by Lucinda Berry is an engaging and entertaining read. The story revolves around three best friends Linsey, Dani, and Kendra and their teenage sons, Sawyer, Jacob, and Caleb. One day, while the boys are hanging out, a tragic incident occurs, leading to the death of one of them. As the parents and police work to uncover what really happened, long-buried secrets come to light, revealing their friendships might fragile and untrustworthy after all.The story was interesting, but I had trouble keeping track of the characters, especially which son belonged to which parent. This is the second book I’ve read by Lucinda Berry, and I think she has a habit of making it a bit tricky to follow. Overall, it was a good story, but the ending wasn’t satisfying, which seems to be another trend with this author. I’m giving it 3 stars, unless there’s a second book to continue the story.

Title: The Best of Friends
Review: This book was good. Nothing overly shocking about the story. In the beginning it is hard to keep track who is with who and what kid goes with what parents. The ending was predictable and that is why I only gave it 4 stars.

Title: wow
Review: What a sad, heart wrenching story. Difficult to keep track of characters and which kids belong to each as well as the women’s spouses, so I made a cheat sheet..helped a lot. Very engrossing story with surprises along the way. Love this author.

Title: exciting page turner
Review: This was a very exciting novel set up in the prologue. Tragedy happens involving three close friends in a web of close friends.Although the story focuses on the tragedy of the three friends, the chapters alternate from each of the boys, mothers perspective as they try and navigate this horrible night.Three close friends were together when things go horribly wrong. Sawyer is dead, Jacob in a coma (brain dead) and the remaking boy Caleb is basically catatonic and unable to speak. The boys mothers were childhood friends and have various issues at home with their own spouses. Of course, while reading this I’m trying to figure out “what really happened” as with any psychological suspense novel it is never what it seems…This is an exciting, fast paced read that really had me captivated, wondering what would happen with the mothers, what really happened, etc I could wait to get to the end..If you like psychological suspense novels I strongly recommend this book, you will enjoy it.SPOILER ALERT:although we learn the truth behind that awful night I was a little disappointed in the truth behind the night (as it wasn’t a big surprise). However, I still loved the story and ABSOLUTELY loved the final little twist thrown in the epilogue…

Reviewer: Muito bom! Li em 3 dias. Fiquei tentando adivinhar o que tinha acontecido. Depois de ‘A paciente silenciosa’ queria algo na mesma pegada. Amizade descrita de uma maneira real, com fases, erros e acertos.

Review: This is my first time reading a novel from this author and after reading the synopsis and the premise behind it, I couldn't wait to dive in.It was an incredibly quick read though I will say there was a bit of repetitiveness at times, that would sometimes pull me out. I followed the women, their husbands and their children easily enough, didn't have any issues in that regard though while I did start the novel having sympathy for everyone involved it slowly slipped away. These folks weren't great people, but you know, who is really? But it did make it hard to sympathize the deeper I went along. With that said, didn't see the very end coming at all, so that was an interesting touch while also feeling soft of open ended. The issues tackled within the story were handled well I feel, especially since a lot of them were heavy.I will definitely be reading more work from this author in the future.
