She knows everything about you… and she’s about to share your deepest, darkest secret.
Alice has everything, I mean everything. A stunning suburban house, Instagram-perfect in its soft grey walls and textured neutrals. And then there's her handsome husband, with his flat stomach and that sexy sleeve of tattoos he keeps hidden for his well-paid job in the city. The PTA mamas can't stop staring at him, and who can blame them? And let's not forget her three adorable, well-behaved children.
Meanwhile, here in Boston, I'm struggling to start a family with my husband Ollie. Our marriage is suffering, and I feel so isolated all the time. It's hard not to compare myself to Alice, especially when we unexpectedly reconnect after two decades of silence. I can't help feeling I've been dealt the inferior hand in life.
The worst thing is, I know Alice doesn't deserve any of it. I was once her very best friend in the world, and I know the real Alice better than anyone else.
And here’s me thinking… I know where the bodies are buried, literally. Maybe it’s time to make her pay?
This gripping tale of friendship, love, betrayal, and revenge is full of twist after brilliant twist. It will keep you reading late into the night, perfect for fans of Gone Girl, My Lovely Wife, and The Girl Before.

Title: Good debut novel
Review: This was a good debut novel. I think I expected more due to the authorâs pen name! Ha ha.The novel is told solely from one POV which I think was a mistake as I believe a third person account of the side characters could have added more dimension. Even though I know the purpose of only giving us Evieâs point of view is deliberate in order for twists to occur, the twists were really flat. All in all I would read this author again.

Title: Interesting, overall
Review: This was a very well written novel. It was a pleasure to read, a seemingly large portion of it relating to the interpersonal relationships between the characters. The twists and turns expected of a psyche thriller came later in the storyline. There was also a generous amount of comical metaphor scattered throughout the book, which I found to be quite entertaining. I would definitely recommend this novel to fans of the genre.

Review: POV ~ single 1stFeaturing ~ debut, dual timeline ~ now & then, infertility, IVF, pregnancy, miscarriage, infidelity, secrets, liesEvie and Alice were, you guessed it, best friends when they were teenagers. What a toxic relationship that was. Now 20 years later, Evie is heading back to London from Boston for work and reconnects with Alice and her husband, Jake, who also just so happens to be Evie's high school boyfriend. Both characters seem unreliable, but since we only have Evie's POV it's hard to know for sure who is the psychopath, or if they both are. The 'then' timeline was sometimes written as if she was living it and sometimes as a flashback, which seemed odd to me.Evie and Ollie struggle with infertility. Always a difficult topic, but I liked that Evie did not hide her struggles. Alice was so insensitive complaining about her 3 kids and (view spoiler), which just goes to show how toxic this relationship was.Overall, a good psychological thriller. There was a good twist and another guessable one that the other side of it gives the ick factor. The pace was more on the medium side with not really edge of the seat moments, but a decent debut nonetheless. Not sure if I love how the ending played out, but I did like the epilogue. I'd for sure read this author again.Side note ~ both characters are described as blonde, so why does the cover look like they are brunettes?*Thanks to the author, Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

Title: Disjointed story line
Review: The story went back and forth, found it confusing. I thought Evie had more promise then what she ended up as. I guess I was disappointed, sorry

Review: Absolutely amazing book. The story keeps going back in time but it certainly works well. The characters are written so well that you feel as if you know them. Very glad I don't though.A great story brilliantly written and certainly one for all lovers of domestic thrillers. A definite recommendation.

Review: Evie and Alice were childhood neighbours and best friends but itâs been 20 years since Evie suddenly left their school and the last time they spoke. Now, Evie is moving back to the UK and despite their previously toxic relationship she just canât stop herself from contacting Alice, who seems to have everything Evie covets.I found the first half of the book quite emotional as Evie deals with her fertility issues and a failing marriage, but once she reunites with Alice the story really ramps up into a dark and twisty thriller. Told entirely from Evieâs point of view we only have her word to rely on but itâs clear both women have a past theyâd rather keep hidden and will stop at nothing to keep it that way.The plot is fast-paced, extremely readable and full of surprises. Itâs a tale of love, friendship, and revenge served ice cold! Thereâs some difficult themes in the story but De Winter has managed to pull it off in style, Iâm looking forward to seeing what she writes next.

Title:
Review: Rebecca De Winter has delivered a turbulent, twisting tale for her debut novel. The book is written at a steady pace and the reader is quickly drawn into Evieâs world and her mixed feelings about childhood best friend, Alice. After decades of no contact, Evie and Alice reconnect, but everything isnât as rosey as is should beâ¦The story gripped me instantly and Evie was easy to connect with. De Winterâs writing has feminist touches woven into it and is narrated from Evieâs point of view.I read this in two sittings and found it hard to put down. I didnât see the twist coming (and itâs a good one!) .I canât wait to see what other stories this writer delivers. I really enjoyed Best Friends and highly recommend it to people who like fast-moving thrillers.
