After 50 years of hit making and with international album sales well into the multi-millions, Gordon Lightfoot is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time. Inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2012, his songs have been recorded by Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, and Barbara Streisand. His own recordings of "Early Morning Rain, " "If You Could Read My Mind, " "Carefree Highway", "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and "Sundown" are still among the most performed songs on radio in North America.A lifetime spent performing live with his band, Gordon Lightfoot singled out London's Royal Albert Hall as one of his favourite venues to play, and recorded his seventh appearance there in concert on May 24, 2016. In the final weeks prior to his passing on May 1, 2023, Gordon Lightfoot insisted that this live album be released as soon as possible, approving the artwork and making it clear that no changes were to be made to the recording. The double album set is an unembellished live mix of that nights' performance, without edits, overdubs, remixing or re-sequencing. It captures every song performed in the order they were played, right down to the encore, by Gordon and his band - Rick Haynes on bass, Barry Keane on drums, Mike Heffernan on keys, and Carter Lancaster on guitar. It features Lightfoot's best-known hits, and songs never previously appearing on a live album, including "The Watchman's Gone", "Sea of Tranquility", "Now And Then", "All The Lovely Ladies", "Drifters", "Beautiful", "Did She Mention My Name", "Sweet Guinevere", "Never Too Close", "Don Quixote", "Minstrel of the Dawn", "I'd Rather Press On" and "Waiting For You".

Title: Always Gordon
Review: This is Gordon Lightfoot toward end of career and life. His voice is a bit raspy at times, but this CD is pure Gordon Lightfoot and not to be missed. A treasure for the treasure we lost.

Title: Gordon's voice weaker but still great ...
Review: this hardly sounds like a live album with its lack of applause. Gordon's voice is weaker as this is a relatively new recording. i bought this as consolation for the concert that was rescheduled and then canceled and it was a good choice. RIP Gordon.

Title: farewell Gordon
Review: I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers listened to, maybe bootlegs or they played it on bad cd players but this is good . Ok so he doesn't sound like he did in 1974 , even Sinatra didn't sound his best on those duet cd's back in the '90's . Time and sickness does that to a guy. -- If you are even a casual Lightfoot fan go on and give this cd a try. -- Oh and has anyone else noticed the typo on the back ? Careful Highway ?

Title: Disappointed
Review: Iâm a big Gordon Lightfoot fan and was saddened by his death . When I ordered this CD I was concerned about how he would sound . Sadly my concerns were confirmed , his voice is weak and the words are difficult to understand . The backing music is fine , itâs too bad that his voice is almost gone .

Title: It's okay
Review: Despite the spelling errors, "Careful Highway" and the sort I could still here the singer in him. Glad to have it. 4 of 5 because I agree with many of the previous posters; if you must have for your collection, it's fine, otherwise you can skip it.

Title: Bitter Sweet
Review: I wanted to love it, but after I started to listen to it, I tried not to hate it.Having followed his musical journey since the release of Lightfoot!, in 1966 there was no choice other than to preorder this CD. His virtually flawless crafted lyrics and arrangements are legendary. Seeing him in concert over the years ranged early on from magically fantastic to the last time I saw him about 5 years ago , which was best described as bittersweet.Breathing difficulties can be heard with deliberate register/key changes as well as shortening some songs, as Gordon quips at the almost end of âRibbon of Darknessâ, something to the effect of thatâs how you shorten a song, are evident.I have since listened again and decided on a 3 star rating with these few caveats and for these reasons. As a fan desiring completeness , itâs a must have. Gordon wanted it released exactly as it was recorded. It is a window into the life of the performer, singer songwriter and his acknowledgement of his aging and mortality. The musical arrangements, accompaniments and performances are a tribute to his constant quest for perfection; the music is on point. His voice ravaged by time and health, is another issue. The songs have and will stand the test of time. He will be remembered for his body of work and the effect theyâve had and will have on future generations. Buy it, if you want the last CD he was personally invested in. If you want Gordon at the top of his game, pass on this CD , there are far better collections, released in his prime.

Review: Being a Lightfoot fan, and having gone to his first concert and his last and several in between, sure, his voice has gone downhill with age, but so has mine... and so has anyone else's who has sang all their lives. He is still great, and was until the time he died. I have all his vinyl and his CDs and I will continue to play them whenever I can. it was he who influenced me to learn the guitar. He was the best.

Review: Important final live album. Vocals at times shaky with his excellent band. An essential document. I purchased on the basis of all taxes paid but for the first time I had to pay additional taxes through the Correios. Amazon gone wrong. Never again!

Review: Performing one of his final shows at the wonderful Royal Albert Hall! He performs many of his wonderful songs and in fine voice with such passion and supported by an outstanding band. It's a wonderful reminder of the songwriter and performer the world has lost. Thank you Maestro for the remarkable legacy you have left the world.

Review: Es stimmt, die Stimme ist nicht mehr die von früher. Aber auch nicht so schlimm, wie einige hier geschrieben haben.Sie ähnelt jetzt eher der von Bob Daran.
