Over the past three decades, Jackson Browne has created and voiced many of the most literate and emotionally resonant compositions in popular music and sold more than 15 million albums, including the seven-times platinum Running On Empty and the #1 Hold Out. This year Browne's artistry is celebrated with his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and with this new retrospective from Rhino. Browne's first-ever double-disc set compiles hits, singles, and choice album cuts from his acclaimed catalog, spotlighting both insightful works of personal introspection and passionately delivered songs of social and political observation. The 2002 recipient of the prestigious John Steinbeck Award (honoring those exemplifying the famed writer's environmental and social ideals), Browne is a mature artist and world citizen whose work shines on this long-awaited collection.

Title: LOVE this collection, but missing a track?!?
Review: I've had these CDs for months, listened to them repeatedly, and just today realized one of the tracks doesn't play! Disc 2, track 10:"I Am a Patriot" won't play: it just skips from track 9 to track 11. I never imagined I'd need to make sure all tracks are actually on the CD, and this has never happened before: going forward I'll be checking! Bummed to be missing a song, but the rest of the collection is enough to warrant a full 5 stars. Jackson Browne's lyrics are timeless: I never get bored of listening!

Title: The term "Very Best" Lives Up To Its Name...
Review: I don't know about you but often when the term "Very Best" is used in a hits collection I always ask myself "But what about songs X, Y, and Z?" Not true here! It even has his version of "Take It Easy!"I have typically leaned towards deep cuts, so I was also pleasantly surprised it not only had "Somebody's Baby" but "In the Shape of a Heart" as well!Well done!

Title: Great stuff.
Review: My old lp's of JB were just sounding too scratchy. I finally went and bought most of his best stuff on one cd. I should have done this long ago.
