Title: good introduction to the genre
Review: I got this because I always associate anything Mr Scorsese with quality and class, so I wanted to get into the blues a bit and with this cd you get different types of blues from different eras. Just the guitarists featured here is worth the price of admission, not to mention the singers, including some you don't necessarily associate with the blues. It is a good sampler, nothing more. Once you find an artist you think may appeal to you, then you can look into their works and choose from there.

Title: wonderful CD
Review: This CD starts wilth Robert Johnson and goes through the years in succession up to modern day blues. I enjoy this playback pattern and it has great song choices. Keb Mo's "Am I Wrong" is a wonderful song, as is "One Way Out" by the Allman brothers. I had not heard Bonnie Raitt sing blues until I bought this album and she does quite a great job on her included song, "round and round." It is a great collection and the CD rides in my car as I reach for it often.

Title: Prestigious Producer and Premire Title
Review: I am a huge fan of the American Blues. I often go to Memphis' Beale Street to revitalize the Blues in my Soul. Local bands and artists like James Govan that has "The Voice" on Beale Street. My tastes or style, is more of the Texas Blues, Memphis Blues, Chicago Blues and some of the Delta Blues, and this is what I expected from the BEST OF THE BLUES.While the collection is a good collection, and the music is original and true to it's roots, it is not what I expected or wanted.I was disappointed, left wanting. It is a good collection, but not GREAT! If you don't have these recordings or artists in your music collection, then I recommend this album for that purpose.

Title: This was a odd one for me
Review: First time i listened it started off with some very old straight blues. my mood was not there and i pulled it out of the player and stuffed it away thinking it was mostly historical stuff. boy was i ever wrong. this runs the gamut from old river blues to modern hard sound. very nice collection!

Review: in a word,brilliant,mr scorsese you are as good with music as you are with films.its an incredible journey from the very beginning to today.masterpieces from the best in the business,etta james,ray charles,janis joplin,the list goes on,i play it in my clinic my clients just love it,young and old,this is probably the best mix i have ever heard.without doubt this man knows his stuff,buy it and enjoy as i do,regards tom.
