Review: This is a fantastic cd. I had it on cassette and bought this version (extra tracks) to replace the cassette, so lately I've been listening to this again. I remember why I love it so much. It's full of excellent songs - well written and some powerful stuff here. You can't go past No More Drama. The symbolism of having Y & R music as a sample track doesn't go unoticed. It's a moving song and if you get a chance to see the video, it's even more powerful. There are some good guest appearances here (Pharrell being one - who's great here), and above all, Mary's vocals are top notch. She really is talented and seems to always be getting better. If you are going to get this cd, get this particular one with the extra tracks. It's a re-release and that's a good thing. Any new music from Mary is a welcome thing. I highly recommend this to any fan of hip hop and r'n b.

Title: The Queen of Hip-Hop
Review: Mary J. Blige is one in a million. This album was purchased to replace the old one that skips. I just can't be without my Mary. I started with "What's the 411?" and never stopped. I look forward to a new one. She never disappoints.

Title: Mary does hip-hop, R&B and soul
Review: Mary J. Blige's "dark roast blend" voice is put to good use on this 2001 album, as she shines in different settings. Many of the tracks have arrangements that are creative and effective in establishing a mood or a vibe. The album opens with a bang, with a dynamic Y2K-era track called "Love". Mary projects a sexy authority and does double duty as background singer, shouting out the spelling of the title ("L-O-V-E!"). "Family Affair" has a supremely catchy instrumental hook and some joyful lyrics: "Don't need no hateration/Holleration/In this dancery/Let's get it percolatin'...It doesn't matter if you're white or black/Let's get crunk 'cause Mary's back." For a change of pace there is a slow, serious old-school soul track, "He Think I Don't Know". "Beautiful Day" is a bright, quirky track, funkified for our listening pleasure. In "Never Been", Mary details her astonishment over how good love is ("I've never been touched like this...kissed like this...I never knew it felt like this"), and Missy Elliot helps her with the background vocals. "In The Meantime" is smooth, breezy R&B with a subtle Latin beat.The title track "No More Drama" is a good enough reason to buy the album. It is built on the foundation of a portion of what we know alternately as "Nadia's Theme" or the theme from the popular daytime drama "The Young And The Restless". Enlivened with a hip-hop beat, it is a plea and an affirmation that the pain caused by turbulent relationships has to end. Mary even references the soap in her outpouring: "...maybe I like the stress/'Cause I was YOUNG AND RESTLESS/But that was long ago/I don't wanna cry no more...No more tears...No more fears...No drama, no more in my life." Ironically, this is a very dramatic track with which to say that there will be no more drama. The title is doubly ironic when you consider that the album was released just 2 weeks before the 9/11 suicide bombings. There is also "No More Drama Remix" which is a very different version. "Nadia's Theme" has been removed from the equation, and we hear a more upbeat and jazzy track, a collaboration with P. Diddy.Some tracks do not measure up to the quality level of the others, mainly due to some lackluster melodies and repetition of musical lines. But with 17 tracks, there is still much to appreciate, and overall it is a very enjoyable album from the queen of hip-hop soul.

Review: Mary J. Blige is terrific in this CD. When she feels pain, she lets you feel it with her. She is truly the Queen Of Hip Hop Soul!. This is a great CD to listen to. It is good if one is not to depressed because Mary helps you feel the pain in her music! I highly recommend this CD for Mary J, Blige fans!
