Scandalous, sentimental, frank, and sincere - the ultimate inside account of a television and film icon.
Burt Reynolds has been a Hollywood leading man for six decades, known for his legendary performances, sex-symbol status, and storied Hollywood romances. In his long career of stardom, during which he was number one at the box office for five years in a row, Reynolds has seen it all. But Enough About Me will tell his story through the people he’s encountered on his amazing journey. In his words, he plans to “call out the assholes”, try to make amends for “being the asshole myself on too many occasions”, and pay homage to the many heroes he has come to love and respect.
Beginning with Reynolds’s adolescence as a notable football player and the devastating car accident that ended his sports career, But Enough About Me takes listeners from the Broadway stages where Reynolds got his start to his subsequent rise to fame. From Oscar nominations, to the spread in Cosmopolitan magazine that remains a notorious pop-cultural touchstone to this day, to the financial decisions that took him from rich to poor and back again, Reynolds shares the wisdom that has come from his many highs and lows.
He is also ready, now more than ever, to dish. Reynolds famously romanced Dinah Shore, Sally Field, and Loni Anderson, to name only the top few; batted eyes at Bette Davis, Greta Garbo, Goldie Hawn, Farrah Fawcett, Marilyn Monroe, Candice Bergen, and so many more; went a few rounds (or more) with the likes of Donald Trump and Helen Gurley Brown; and rubbed elbows with Jon Voight, Clark Gable, Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra, Orson Welles, Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, and Johnny Carson, among many others. Through it all, Reynolds reflects on his personal pitfalls and recoveries and refocuses his attention on his legacy as a father and an acting teacher, leaving readers with a classic from one of Hollywood’s most enduring and treasured stars.

Title: Terrific Memoir, Whether You Are a Burt Reynolds Fan Or Not
Review: Burt lays it all out there and shows sides to him that I'm glad he had. He was a fighter and a risk-taker who ultimately brought an awful lot more to the cinema world than just beefsteak and wisecracks.I'd say he was quite a guy who would have been fun to know and good to have as a friend in a tight spot.He helped a lot of people in his life one way or another and should be appreciated for that. This guy wasn't just a movie star, that's for sure. Both the book and the star ended up being a lot more interesting than I expected.

Title: The interviews
Review: I grew up with "Smokey and the Bandit"; it was my favorite movie when I was in high school. I loved the magnetic relationship that developed between the lead characters. I forgot about it for years though, until I saw some of the clips on the internet advertising this new book being published. Mr. Reynolds piqued my interest with his statements about Sally Field being the "love of his life", implying that the love is unrequited. I was on the internet every day trying to find, read and watch every interview granted by Field and Reynolds. What happened? What was their story? The suspense of the book's release was killing me!Well, I've watched and read the interviews, and now I've read the book. You're right Mr. Reynolds, I'm glad I never met you in 1978. I am quite sure you were only out for a good time, and you were VERY shallow. Everyone knew it. Such narcissism with mirrors in every room in the house!Mr. Reynolds HAD the most beautiful, funny and talented girl next door.....without the plastic body, without the make -up-mask for a face, and without hair sprayed into an untouchable helmet. Field was quite a stretch from his other tarts. If Dinah was Reynolds's "soul mate" (his description of her was a very special person, indeed), I was left wondering how many times Field must have heard it, too. How many times must she have heard the story of how she wasn't regarded in show business as "sexy". I ran across those two statements in text and video several times. Reynolds was with Field for five years and never told her he loved her?! I'm glad Playboy Magazine felt she was sexy enough to be on their cover AND dignified enough interview her with her clothes on. Along with two Academy Awards and three beautiful sons?..... what a perfect middle finger to all who underestimated her.As for this memoir, Mr. Reynolds 's life story is an interesting read from the perceptions and memories of the frail and aged. I'm left feeling only bittersweet sadness of all of life's poor choices.

Title: Name-dropping
Review: Nice book which gives some insight in the man Reynolds. Disappointing however is all the name-dropping. I'm not interested in Roy Rogers, Bette Davis or Johnny Carson, I wanted to read something about Reynolds the actor and the human being. And why he made such huge career mistakes. To a certain extent the book will provide in that, but a lot I find uninteresting, like the part about American football is boring. However, when you read a little further the book gets better, also because he discusses actors he really worked with, like Dom deLuise. Very moving to read about their friendship and the fact that he misses him so much. The parts about his loves Dinah Shore and Sally Field are just beautiful, and he must have had a hard time remembering his greatest love and regret.Burt's always been very honest, and he is also honest about his insecurities in this book. For example when he admitted he didn't dare to make a pass at Catherine Deneuve. But the part that amazed me most was a description of all the good movies he declined. I don't think there has ever been an actor who made such disastrous career choices. He could have been greater if he would have been a little wiser. But what a great guy.

Review: Auch wenn es eine Autobiografie ist, so bekommt doch interessante Einblicke in das bei weitem nicht immer glamouröse Leben eines Stars.

Review: A witty, grounded autobiography by the larger than life original beefcake of Hollywood.Never knew much about his pre silver screen days. His firm but fair upbringing couldn't destroy his spirit and sense of fun, humour and robust desire for adventure.Burt had a real zest for life and did nothing by half.Really enjoyed getting to know the man, because that's how much this book opened up being so sincere and honest it left you feeling you'd just sat down and had a chat with him on a one to one basis.Great fun.Highly recommend.

Review: I read this book several weeks before Burt passed away. I really enjoyed it and found myself liking him even more. His kindness and humour shines through. It covers the important people and big events in his life although never getting in too deep. Heâs very upfront about the people he loves/likes and those he doesnât like or respect, and everyone who helped him along the way. This book made me laugh many times and was very entertaining. Itâs a reminder about the sad loss of the ever cool, unique, funny, talented and irreplaceable Mr Reynolds.
