To preserve the future, Alex must find the secrets of the past.

After a devastating battle, Alex Roth is left with more questions than answers, and—as the Ravener grows more aggressive—he and his companions struggle to learn the truth of Thameland’s Cycle.

But—thanks to an old enemy—they do have one lead, though it will take them into the bowels of the darkest Hells.

To prepare, Alex will have to reveal who he truly is to the other Heroes of Thameland, and deal with the consequences.

On the line are not only truths about Thameland’s endless, bloody cycles…but also the greatest secret of the patron Saint of Alric...the Traveller.

Book six of the best-selling series. Continue your fantastical journey into a coming-of-age magic academy fantasy with a weak-to-strong progression into power, deepening mystery, a setting inspired by D&D, detailed world building and magical science, action, comedy, slice-of-life, and GameLit elements.

Title: Best Series Ever? Probably!
Review: Seriously, this series is fantastic! Easily in my top 5. Great character development. It’s not hyper growth, but there is enough happening that it doesn’t feel slow by any means. The world crafting has been phenomenal. Excellent work by an excellent author! Can’t wait for the next installment.

Title: Edit, it's pretty good still 🙂
Review: I felt like there should be more in the context of the struggle in thameland, and some more lore etc instead of trivia ( just my preference) but it's overall a good read and am looking forward to the next one.

Title: Foolishly good
Review: I ended up reading books 5 & 6 back to back, both were excellent! The plot thickens, secrets are shared and older secrets unveiled. As ever, some things are resolved, some loose threads are pulled closer to the weave, and as a reader I got hit with some real emotion over the characters' struggles and relationships. All in all, a great read and can't wait for book 7!

Title: A lot to do before school starts
Review: Alex and company continue their adventures in the volume. Our story restarts moments after the previous book ended with Claygon uttering his first words.Yes, he has indeed gained sentience and everyone is delighted to meet him!Spoilers below!Drestra confronts Alex and he admits he is the Fool. Things don't explode. Then he tells Cedric and Hart, that doesn't go as well... Claygon is very protective of his Father. They get it together, raid the hells, then Alex upgrades the 3 heroes. The Saint is left out of the fun as the others explain he would immediately lock up the Fool.Alex buys the decrepit bakery across from Shale's using his massive influx of cash after gaining a Junior Crafter position and starting a Chaos Golem crafting plan with Shale. The old baker was similar to his old boss and he is able to help the last assistant with a bit of revenge before putting him in charge of the whole operation.Alex and Thundarr plan a crazy raid on another of the hells to go find The Traveler's artifact. This is the climax of the book and it is a doozy. Her (Hannah Kim) artifact is her phone! She was isekai'd into another realm before she was 15. She gained fabulous powers there, saved the world, but lost her friends along the way. Then she went traveling. Eventually she came to Thameland and created a home. She never told anyone her name, just went by The Traveler. Then a new cycle started and she got marked as the Saint. She became friends with the Fool and when they were about to destroy a dungeon core the Fool found they could control it! Then the priests tried to kill the Fool.Hannah teleported their heads away, saved the Fool, and told the others she died.Eventually the Ravener was defeated and she was able to "retire", meanwhile she and the Fool (of her time) worked to understand things. They found out about a secret arm of the church. That the Fool's mark was "patched" at some point to make it like it is currently. They briefly removed the Fool's mark, but doing so obliterated her soul. Hannah was very sad about that. When the next cycle started a dungeon appeared in her sanctum and she died. But that's not the end! Her other worldly powers continued to work on the other side. When Alex and others began to pray directly to her, she gained divinity!Alex uses her phone to translate her book, finds a ritual and summons her. They have a brief conversation, she blesses him with more power, and he resolves to get stronger. Then we find the Ravener and others freaking out about the Traveler's power being activated again. The Ravener reaches out to the First Apostle (of the secret arm of the church) and they begin a plan.I'm excited to see what comes next!

Review: It's a very good sequence of the series. It's quite understable, even for the readers that don't know RPG terms. It's better to start with the first book of the series.

Review: We've come a long way from where we started, with a skinny baker's assistant getting a Mark from his god that binds him into a fight against a great evil, going 'screw that,' and running off to wizard university with his best friend, her dog and his sister.A lot has changed since then. Alex has returned, a wizard of significant power, his friend is now his girlfriend and he's gotten ripped. He's prepared and is ready to face hell itself.Which is good because the hells are where he's going in this book. And also where my problem with this book lies. Mostly it's just that I can't get a handle on just how strong Alex and his friends actually are. Three books and six in universe months ago he was struggling against normal demons and now he's cutting his way through legions of them, albeit with very tough allies by his side, and fighting against Greater Demons. It just took me aback a bit.I will say about the Greater Demons though that it's repeatedly made clear that, unless he catches them by surprise, or with a good plan, everything will go wrong. The power leveling is just a small niggle though, everything else is great. This is one of those books where the plot is taking big strides forward with secrets uncovered and revealed, dramatic deals being made and new characters being introduced, All that surrounded by the usual magic, mayhem and fun.If you've enjoyed the series up until now then this is a fantastic addition. And if you're eyeing this review wondering if the series is still good after 6 books then yes, yes it is.
