The Perfect Marriage

Would you defend your husband if he was accused of killing his mistress?

Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney in Washington D.C. At 33 years old, she is a named partner at her firm and life is going exactly how she planned.

The same cannot be said for her husband, Adam. He is a struggling writer who has had little success in his career. He begins to tire of his and Sarah’s relationship as she is constantly working.

Out in the secluded woods, at Adam and Sarah’s second home, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers.

Then, one morning everything changes. Adam is arrested for Kelly’s murder. She had been found stabbed to death in Adam and Sarah’s second home.

Sarah soon finds herself playing the defender for her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress.

But is Adam guilty or is he innocent?

Title: Wow!
Review: This is my first time reading a book like this. I was captured within the first few chapters. So much so, that I read this book in 6 hours. I really enjoyed the characters, dialogue, pacing, and the twists/turns.Though I predicted 2 pieces, there’s no way I could have predicted the ending. Fabulous novel that you won’t regret!

Title: I liked this book. Good read.
Review: I will start by saying I do not feel bad for Adam. So many things he did wrong. In the grand scheme of things, to be as indecisive as he was about his relationships with both his wife and his mistress was a red flag from the jump. He didn't know what he wanted. He resented his wife's success because his dreams didn't pan out how he imagined them in college; his wife's however did and her work and work ethic got them to where they were today financially. But she wasn't there when he needed her and quite often canceled on him when they would try to make time for them as a couple. As a woman (and a lawyer at that) that would give me concern about my relationship if I'm not spending the necessary time with him but he's always spending time at the second home "to write". No other books at the time were in the works. Of course, he's cheating. He was unsure of himself and needed the reassurance from somewhere and he found that in his mistress. In my opinion, he was seeking an emotional connection just with an additional affair. For Sarah to have to defend her cheating husband over a murder case of his mistress in their home already seems like a loss cause for him. Having his faint in the hands of the person he betrayed is a hard pill to swallow but he believes if anyone could prove his innocence it would be Sarah.I predicted about 50% and the other 50% took me by surprise.I can say I didn't think it would end the way it did.ProsIt took me three days to read but I could of read it in one day. In books like this, I love to talk out my thoughts analyze what I think is going on, and take in info that I've just read. It did keep my mind occupied the more information began to be unveiled but never any “for sure” leads made it hard to put down. I just kept wanting to know more.Cons:Very sloppy police work on multiple accounts. Sarah as a lawyer was handing in clues and evidence the police somehow didn't find or overlooked. It got me thinking about how this easily happens in real cases when it comes the investigative work. She was working hard on this case while it was clear the police wanted it to be an open-and-shut case because it was the easy choice to accuse her husband.I've never experienced nor do I like a narrator withholding info from the reader. It doesn't bode well with readers when the narrator is the person expressing how much she feels people around her, including her husband is keeping things her in this case but fails to add certain details to our knowledge as a reader. There were a lot of loose ends not tied up even at the end for me. I don't understand the ending and how that came to be but I accept it.Overall, I liked this book. Good read.

Title: This psychological thriller got me out of my reading slump. I highly recommend reading it!
Review: Adam and Sarah Morgan had a perfect marriage and life. Adam, a struggling writer, and Sarah, the most prominent defense attorney in the Washington D.C. area, have a beautiful home in the city, are wealthy, and can escape life to their picturesque lake home. That is until Kelly, Adam’s mistress, is discovered dead in their lake house bedroom. Kelly has been stabbed to death and Adam is the prime suspect. Now Sarah finds herself having to defend her husband from being accused of murder, but can she win this case, too?Honestly, I devoured this book in 24 hours. The Perfect Marriage was well-written. I really liked the chapters being written from different character perspectives, and the story kept me on the edge of my seat. The novel was a fast pace, and it did not lose my attention when reading the book. The ending took me by surprise with how she built the story. I did not expect her to end it the way she did, but I appreciated how the novel ended. I typically am great at discovering who the murderer is, but there were twists and turns that threw me off a bit.I loved Sarah as a main character. She represented a powerhouse of a woman, and the author really made you feel for her situation. My feelings toward Adam kept changing through the book. The author did a wonderful job of helping me understand Adam’s frustrations, but then I would find myself so annoyed with him for his actions. Jeneva Rose wrote well-developed secondary characters that really helped the reader feel connected to the main characters’ past. The dialogue was just right, and the author expressed the characters’ feelings through well-written plot building. Overall, I would highly recommend this psychological thriller!

Review: I recently purchased this book as a birthday gift for a friend. She expressed her appreciation for the gesture and found the book to be enjoyable. While she did mention a desire for more mystery elements, she was pleasantly surprised by a significant twist in the plot that she had not anticipated.
