Review: If you look at all her "Greatest Hits" albums, they are all missing some songs. Only a few songs are on all her hit albums. Still wonderful to listen to.

Title: What can one say about Patti???
Review: Patti Labelle is one of true DIVAS of the R&B, pop or any other planet she wants to be on! She wields her multi-octave voice like a samurai master with a blade. There's nothing close. Patti allows the range and modulation to emanate from her perfect phrasing of lyrics. That comes from the true soulful experience of music and life. There are a few others (not many) with the range but, few who truly know how to use it. Their's are phonic utterances in attempts to establish an additional platform to display their range. Maria Carey immediately comes to mind. She just ain't got the soul. The rest need to just keep trying. While, Phyllis Hyman, and Anita Baker have the style and much of the phrasing but, they don't have the range.There are a few other singers who sing in different genres jazz most notably that come close but, very few. "If Only You Knew", "On MY Own" (as well as "If You Asked Me Too" (not featured on this album)) are perfect examples. By the way, Celine Dion your close but, you're plagued by the flat voice syndrome when compared to Patti's renditions of the same song. I was annoyed that you tried. Patti's problem is that there have only been a few writers and composers capable writing the material that create the evocative mood a voice like hers can bring. Songs that just drizzle passion and intimacy all through the lyrics and the compositon. Consequently, I have to compile the material by collecting numerous albums. Doesn't matter. Just ot hear her do any songs of the type I mentioned is worth it. Though, she must be somewhere enjoying the rewards for her labor I sure wish she would do a few more like the one's I favor while she is still available. Please Dexter Wansel, Kenny Gamble, Diane Warren get to writing & composing some material for Patti.

Review: 全米一位のOn My Ownは夢の中で滑空している感覚に似た、素晴らしく開放感のある曲だが、自分はマイケル・マクドナルドのドラマティックな歌唱しか印象になかった。と言うのも、結構小林克也さんなどの番組でPVが流れていたと思うが、あのころの常とて、全曲流れることがほとんどなかったからだ。一緒に歌ってる人については（当時はR&Bがあまり好きではなかった）、なんか年増っぽい声で甘ったれた歌い方をする変なおばちゃんくらいにしか思ってなかった。今回、Patti LabellではなくLabellというグループ名義（だったかな）の曲への関心からこれを購入して、件の曲を改めて聴いてみると、後半彼女の奔放な歌唱に圧倒された。空想力、表現力ともに申し分なし。なんだ、むしろマイケル・マクドナルドよりいいじゃないか、と。もっとも、他の曲に比べると、これでも控えめにしてるような気がしないでもない。何が言いたいのかと言うと、多分多くの人はサンプルを試聴してから購入を決めると思うが、この人の場合それだけでは絶対に伝わらない、かなり予想外の展開が後半に必ず仕込まれていて、全体のドラマ性が聴きどころになるはずだということ。いくつかの曲はディスコ時代のありきたりなアレンジが施されており、出だしでちょっとゲンナリしかかるが、それもすぐに彼女のパフォーマンスでどうでもよくなってしまう。それなりに回数聴きこんだが、わかっているはずなのに今でも展開にドキドキする（宇野功芳さんがエロイカのスケルツォについて楽譜通りなのにいつまでもアドリブ感が味わえると言っていた）。カバー曲（If You Don' t Know Me By Nowなど）を除くと、Lady Marmaladeと先述のOn My Ownくらいしか有名ではないかもしれないが、キャッチ―であるとか美しいメロディーとか、なんかどうでもよくなってしまうので、問題ない（無責任）。
