Fleetwood Mac - Rumours Live. Previously unreleased live show, pressed on 2-LP 180-gram vinyl, and recorded at The Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles on the Rumours Tour on August 29, 1977. The concert’s setlist draws almost exclusively from Fleetwood Mac and Rumours, the first two albums recorded by the band’s latest incarnation: Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Christine McVie, and the newest members, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham. The lone nod to Fleetwood Mac’s other nine studio albums is a performance of “Oh Well,” a rock-guitar masterpiece originally released in 1969 and written by the band’s founder, guitarist Peter Green.

Title: Fleetwood Mac At The Top Of Their Game
Review: Since 1987âs âShakinâ The Cageâ tour, Fleetwood Mac has performed with about 7 or 8 supporting musicians on stage. As their albums became more densely layered, there was a desire to be able to reproduce the recorded sounds. But in 1977, they were still a five-piece band. And they were at the top of their game.âRumours Liveâ captures one complete live concert (Inglewood, Californiaâs The Forum - August 29th, 1977), which is, I believe, the first time the group has released a complete live set that wasnât stitched together from various dates. And while there are a few small hiccupsâ¦.a missed note on the guitar, an occasional note sung flatâ¦.this show was amazing! With the exception of the Peter Green classic âOh Well,â all of the songs on this 2CD set come from Fleetwood Macâs self-titled album from 1975 and âRumours.â As always, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie prove themselves to be one of the tightest rhythm sections in rock. The interplay between Christine McVieâs electric piano and organ and Lindsey Buckinghamâs tasteful and eclectic guitar work does away with any need for backup musicians. (An uncredited Ray Lindsey, who was Buckinghamâs guitar tech, plays acoustic guitar on âGo Your Own Way,â and thatâs the only assistance to be heard.)I love all of the performances on âRumours Live,â but a few of my favorites are the ones which vary quite a bit from the original recorded versions. âNever Going Back Againâ is performed here with Mick Fleetwood on brushes and John McVie on bass. (If I recall correctly, there WAS a similar configuration to be heard on the Rumours DVD-A.) âRhiannonâ and âIâm So Afraidâ almost immediately became different animals in concert. The live disc from the âFleetwood Macâ (1975 self-titled) Super Deluxe Box Set reveals theyâd already extended and energized both songs two years earlier, turning each into powerful showcases for Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. While I prefer Stevieâs 1975 rendition of âRhiannon,â this âRumoursâ-era take is a close second. âWorld Turning,â in 1977, was Mickâs spotlight number, featuring a manic mid-song percussion break on his African talking drum. In ten years, this charming little solo spot would turn into a bloated, over-the-top showcase for Mickâs drum vest, with its sewn-in pads programmed with digital samples, which seemed to go on forever. The sound on this double-disc collection is as perfect (to my ears) as this 46 year old live recording could possibly be. Itâs not too heavily compressed, and the low frequencies, mid-range and high end sound very balanced. The one disappointment for me is the packaging. I realize that itâs better for the environment to go with paper over plastic, but these cardboard digipaks make it very difficult to remove the discs. Also, Sam Grahamâs ânotesâ on the insert (itâs not even a booklet, just a single 3-fold sheet) reveal nothing the average fan hasnât already read or heard a million times. Iâd like to have read some background on the venue âThe Fabulous Forum,â or some history of the 1977 tour itself (this Forum date was one of a three-night stand in the U.S. following a batch of overseas concerts.) As a fan since 1976, I guess Iâd just like to read something interesting about the group and their music written by a good writer/researcher.Many decades ago, a friend played me a 2LP bootleg Fleetwood Mac album from the âRumoursâ tour called âSin City â77.â The sound quality was pretty atrocious, but I remember loving the way the band performed the songs. To hear these (practically) identical performances in beautifully mastered audio forty years later is a wonderful thing!

Title: Great concert, nice sound
Review: Is this a must have?IMHO No. The band is in great form, the sound in general is very good but if you're not a die hard fan I think the price is too high for what you get.

Title: WOW!
Review: This is one of the best live recordings I have ever heard, and I have listened to a lot of live performances! The songs are great, the performers are enjoying themselves tremendously and giving it their best, and it is very well recorded. Stevie sounds amazing, as does Lindsey, as to everybody, really; my breath was taken away a couple of times listening to this - it's that good! Where has this tape been? Somebody must have been asleep at the switch or something for it to take this long to get this out. If you a Fleetwood Mac fan, this is a must have. This is them at their absolute best and it sounds amazing.

Title: -=- Very Good Live Mac Album -=-
Review: Very good live record. It has all the great Mac songs. It has the songs from Rumors, plus a few others. Lindsey, Stevie, & Christine are all in good voice. Band sounds great. If you like Fleetwood Mac, buy this with confidence. It is a worthy purchase. It is a 2 CD set, in case you were wondering. No negatives really to mention. CDs play fine in the car and inside on the CD player, so no concerns there either.Overall, very satisfied with this release. I hope they release more live shows from other time periods.

Title: nice item.
Review: Nice item, MANY memories. HOWEVER . . . for the price, at least put it in the usual plastic jewel box. sheesh!! It's merely a cardboard envelope wrapping, subject to wear and tear. Don't know about the LP (vinyl) version, but there are no lyrics included here. I mean, after almost 50 years, don't we know all the words any way? But, still . . . ? OH WELL, to coin a phrase.

Title: Not quite their peak, but close.
Review: The live album was recorded on Fleetwood Macâs Rumours tour. This was the second full tour with the newest line up. They had enough material to fill out a show with mostly original (to this line up) material. The band was in top form and sounding great. I say this wasnât their peak because I think the Tusk tour was probably Mac at their best. After that egos and drugs would take over and they would never be the same. This album though is a great time capsule of the band in fine form and sounding outstanding.

Review: This is in my opinion a must have if you are a Fleetwood Mac fan. Especially if you are a fan of the Buckingham and Nicks era and if you are a fan of the second self titled album and rumours. These live versions of the most iconic songs from both albums are well performed by all members of the band. This in my opinion is my favorite live album from Fleetwood Mac so far. They were at the top of their game at this point in time.
