Title: This is not “just another Stevie Nicks compilation”.
Review: “Stand Back: 1981-2017” is the fourth compilation from Stevie Nicks. What sets this set apart from the previous releases is it expands the years covered obviously, but also includes several songs that have never appeared on a Stevie album previously. The first disc contains 17 of Stevie’s singles from each of her seven studio albums. Yes, there are a few missing, her new tracks from her 1991 compilation “TimeSpace” and more glaringly 1989’s “Whole Lotta Trouble”. But aside from that all of the big hits are here. Disc two features 18 tracks, each one a collaboration of some type, be it a duet or a prominent backing vocalist. This is the gem disc of the set in my opinion. More than half of the tracks on disc two have never appeared on a Stevie compilation before, and seven of those tracks have never appeared on a Stevie album period. In the case of “Golden” with Lady Antebellum the track has only appeared as a digital single and “You’re Not The One” with Sheryl Crow was a b-side to Sheryl’s 2002 track “Soak Up The Sun”. Other tracks such as “Borrowed” with LeAnn Rimes, “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” with Chris Isaac and “Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems” with Lana Del Rey appeared on the respective artists albums. Stevie has contributed to many other artists albums since 1976 and a complete compilation could be made just of those tracks. What’s included here is just a sample. The third disc is something of a time machine featuring various Live tracks from thruout the years. The highlight of these tracks is the Tom Petty collaboration “Needles & Pins” from his 1985 “Pack Up The Plantation Live” album, although the song dates back to 1981. The disc closes out with a handful of Stevie’s soundtrack contributions. The final track being “Your Hand I Will Never Let It Go” from the 2017 film “Book Of Henry”. This is one of the songs that most casual fans and even some die hards may be unaware of. Each of Stevie’s compilation albums offer something different for fans. “TimeSpace” from 1991 was her first comp and featured remixed versions of her previous hits and three newly recorded tracks. 1998’s “Enchanted” gave us the hits, collaborations and unreleased tracks. It also is the only set to include a “Buckingham Nicks” track. 2007’s “Crystal Visions” brought lost of hits up to date as well as previously unreleased live tracks. And now “Stand Back 1981-2017” covers much of the same ground, but also includes tracks unique to this set. The set has been released to commemorate Stevie’s solo induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. This set proves that she is much more than just a member of Fleetwood Mac.

Title: ~ Stevie's 3 CD "Career spanning" 1981-2017 set is superb and beautifully packaged ~
Review: I have been a fan of Stevie Nicks since her debut with Fleetwood Mac in 1975 on the "White Album" as it is known. She did do an album before joining "Mac" with Lindsey Buckingham in 1973, called "Buckingham-Nicks" and will eventually get that one. After coming out with her "Crystal Visions: The Very Best of Stevie Nicks" set, which had a 2 disc version with DVD for her videos and a single audio CD with 16 tracks, I believe Stevie really wanted a more comprehensive, updated version. So, here we are with the 3 CD "STAND BACK: 1981-2017 Edition.Every song sounds fabulous over 3 CDs. We get a very nicely done package with each CD being housed in their own sleeve from top opening, not the side opening as "Belinda Carlisle: GOLD" has. There is s nice liner notes booklet with a few nice photos of Stevie in her early days. All songs are listed and tracked in the booklet, which is housed in its own sleeve above a photo of Ms. Nicks.Nicely done graphics throughout the set.~ Songs are:* CD 1Edge of SeventeenRooms on FireStand BackAfter the Glitter FadesIf Anyone FallsTalk To MeI Can't WaitHas Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?Long Way To GoMaybe Love Will Change Your MindBlue DenimEvery DayPlanets of the UniverseSecret LoveFor What It's WorthThe DealerLady* CD 2Stop Draggin' My Heart AroundLeather and LaceNightbirdI Will Run To YouTwo Kinds Of LoveWhenever I Call You "Friend"Magnet and SteelGoldToo Far From TexasSorcererYou're Not The OneSanta Claus Is Coming To TownCheaper Than FreeYou Can't Fix ThisGoldenBlue WaterBorrowedBeautiful People, Beautiful Problems* CD 3Gold Dust Woman (Live)Dreams (Live)Angel (Live)Rhiannon (Live)Landslide (Live)Sara (Live)Crash Into Me (Live)Circle Dance (Live)Needles and PinsRock and Roll (Live)Blue LampSleeping AngelIf You Ever Did BelieveCrystalYour Hand I Will Never Let It GoWell done set! Title: Good overview but missing a few things
Review: Nice introduction to her solo career as it includes tracks from all of her solo albums. You can nitpick about songs included or left off as you can with any artist collection. The second disk focuses on her duets and the inclusion of the duets with Walter Egan (Magnet and Steel) and John Stewart (Gold) are noteworthy. A glaring omission is the second duet with Stewart on the Bombs Away Dream Babies album, Midnight Wind. A great song that should've been included here. The duet with Lindsey from the Twister soundtrack (Twisted) is another glaring omission. Disc 3 focuses on live tracks and her soundtrack contributions. The main omission here is "Gold and Braid" from the Bella Donna tour. "Dreams, Sara and Rhiannon" live versions are inferior to Fleetwood Mac Live versions. A few more of her solo tracks would've been a better choice in my opinion.

Title: I'm Enchanted
Review: I've been a Stevie Nicks fan since her earliest days with Fleetwood Mac and her solo career has been splendid. Many of these songs are repackaged but the disc containing outtakes from live concerts is wonderful and I'm not a big fan of live recordings. Ms. Nicks can do no wrong.

THE END
