Review: This is the first book tackling the topic of intimacy direction for the stage that I’m aware of. It’s a great guide for teachers, directors, actors and producers who are new to intimacy practice and how to suitably employ it. The book imagines that the production you’re working on doesn’t have the budget for a professional working in intimacy and actually, that’s really helpful. There are plenty of people who have experienced kissing on stage in high school and have previously been left to get on with the scenes themselves or told simply “and now you kiss” with no further parameters around that. This book tackles what used to happen in a room and what should happen now in a room to ensure everyone is safe.A great first guide for people looking at this work.
