Title: Whatever Happened to Randolf Scott?
Review: I was looking for more in a huge compilation collection, but only find Randolf here and in it's original studio album release. I had an extensive compilation that got stolen, I thought had that song on it. Stand watch over the nest, those we thought trustworthy are stealing the eggs.

Title: Solid collection
Review: There are some duplicate songs with the Best Of collection, but their harmonies make repeated listening enjoyable. The song are mostly classic country, but easily cross over to easy listening as well. I was touched by their dedication of the album to their wives for standing by them through all the years of touring. Enjoyed.

Title: Packaging
Review: While the record was in perfect condition the packaging was questionable. It came warped and damaged. While some of the damage was most likely from the shipping I feel the packaging could have been a little more substantial. I was worried the record was also warped but it plays fine.Overall, I was happy with the purchase.

Title: To Brenda, Gloria, Joyce and Wilma from Harold, Don, Lew and Phil
Review: The Statler Brothers were originally gospel singers known as as the Four Star Quartet, and later the Kingsmen. When the song "Louie, Louie" became a hit in '63 for a different Kingsmen band, they changed their name to that of a tissue stocked by a hotel they were overnighting at.Don Reid was lead vocalist, his brother Harold the bass. Lew DeWitt was tenor and Phil Balsley, baritone. They were the CMA's Vocal Group of the Year in 1972-77, also in '79, '80 and '84. They've won three Grammys, two Academy of Country Music awards and three American Music Awards. Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame four years after disbanding in 2002, the Statlers remain the most awarded act in C&W history.Their 1975 MERCURY Records LP of THE BEST OF THE STATLER BROS. (SRM-1-1037) contains a remake of the group's breakout single, "Flowers on the Wall," which hit #2 on Billboard's country chart in 1965, and #4 on Pop. All songs are written by members of the group. Three (*) have added strings arranged by Cam Mullins. Many of these 11 tracks are nostalgic longing for things of the past: gadgets, actors, friends and lovers. In the early '70s, "Randolph Scott" was an often-heard theme of WMCA-570 talk host, Kent Fairchild. "Bed of Roses" is about "This woman of the streets, Lady Rose." They look at the current lives of old high school pals in "Class of '57." The boys individually express gratitude for their musical success in "Thank You World." Regrets for not being around to raise a son are heard in "New York City," which perhaps raises an issue of collective guilt. The LP's front cover has a b&w portrait of the Statler women, unsmiling and dressed in antique clothes. Liner notes attributed to the men apologize for being on the road when they should've been home with wives and families.(PROGRAM includes years of release and highest Country chart positions.)SIDE ONE[2:25] Bed of Rose's (1970, #9)[1:52] Whatever Happened to Randolph Scott (1974, #22)[2:52] Do You Remember These* (1972, #2)[3:14] Carry Me Back* (1973, #26)[2:24] Flowers on the Wall[2:40] The Class of '57* (1972, #6)SIDE TWO[2:53] I'll Go to My Grave Loving You (1975, #3)[2:57] Pictures (1971, #13)[3:07] Thank You World (1974, #34)[2:49] New York City (1971, #19)[3:00] Susan When She Tried (1974, #15)TOTAL TIME: 30:13

Review: I first heard the Statler Brothers back in the late sixties when 'Flowers on the Wall' entered the charts in the UK.I ordered this particular Album on vinyl at the time since it seemed to encapsulate some of their very best music, it is well worth getting this CD at the excellent price and I am glad to have it again.
