"Hope is not a sedative; it is a shot of adrenaline, a blood transfusion." Through clever word pictures like this, best-selling author and former pastor Warren Wiersbe preaches the same message Peter preached so long ago. Turning each enlightening page, believers gain increasing confidence in true Hope, a God in whom they don't just wish for eternal life. In Scripture, hope means the promise of salvation for those who have accepted Him and His Son's death and resurrection.
Christians who possess this hope and live as though they possess it will learn godly submission, holy living, and harmony with other believers. These qualities will prepare them for what Peter paints in his epistle as inevitable-suffering and persecution. Though Peter is writing to warn a people who would soon be under the tyranny of a heathen Roman emperor, some level of suffering will always be a part of the believers' journey. A time is soon coming when living the "comfortable" Christian life will be far more costly than the life willing to give up all.

Title: Excellent Commentary and Bible Study
Review: Be hopeful is an outstanding commentary that digs into the book of 1 Peter. It goes so deep that it almost goes verse by verse. This book will present 1 Peter in a way that I haven't experienced before. This book makes an excellent study of 1 Peter because of h Wiersbe's use of cross references and examples to illustrate the point he is trying to make. I highly recommend this book and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Title: Good Kindle version of Wiersbe's "Be" series
Review: Warren Wiersbe's "Be" series are great, easy to understand Bible commentaries well suited to individual Bible study. I've used his study of Hebrews, I Peter, and am now studying 2 Peter (which also includes the study of the book of Jude and 2 and 3 John.). These are insightful commentaries that teach, make you think, and encourage introspection on applying what you learn to your everyday life. The Kindle versions are great and keep me from getting crammed bookshelves. âº

Title: Helpful for leading group study
Review: Well written study book to supplement my leading of an in depth group study of 1 Peter. I was able to make connection to other Old and New Testament passages that connected for those in the study to gain a clearer view of God's character and plan. The study questions at the end of each passage were helpful to guide and stimulate discussions as well.

Title: Love all of WW commentaries.
Review: Easy to understand! Most Bible scholars who write commentaries don't get the reason you are reading a "Bible Commentary". It is to help you understand what the Bible is saying not get a divinity degree! =)

Review: I just started but I love love love it. His writing style is easy to understand, and flows smoothly. He goes over the background and makes it come alive to the reader. We just started 1 peter at church so I'm super excited to dig in further. This is a great resource for that!

Review: I enjoy using Warren Wiersbe's "Be Series" studies. Each study is an easy to understand commentary. In this series, Wiersbe has a study or commentary for every book of the bible. "Be Hopeful" (I Peter) is one that I'm now using and greatly enjoying.

Review: Has there ever been a better expositor of the bible than Warrren Wiersbe? His books along with those of Chuck Swindoll fill my bookshelves at home because they are simply brilliant.Warren has written commentaries on all books of the bible and they explain in depth the meaning and context and application of the Old and New Testaments. He has an excellent writing style which makes the books so easy to read and understand and his practical examples and anecdotes really contribute to your understanding of the text. These examples in no way diminish the exposition of the text - they add to it and this results in an enjoyable read and thorough explanation of the particular text. These books can be used by the casual reader, someone with an interest in a particular book of the bible (a newcomer etc) or a serious student of theology etc. You will learn the meaning of each passage, see the relevance of the bible to our world today as well as laugh and cry at the many examples and anecdotes that Warren uses to illustrate his main points. These books have been published and re-published and many of the older versions of these books can be found on Amazon etc. They have been given a new lease of life recently with the latest published version but there is something about the old style layout and format that I love and it is these versions I have tried to track down.My collection is complete now I think and I regularly turn to Warren's books for guidance and assistance or when having some difficulty with a particular passage/book of the bible etc.I always come away with a better grasp than before as well as a smile as Warren demonstrates with one of his many brilliant examples. This book, and all the others in the BE series are an absolute joy to read. They will enhance your understanding of the bible if you are a student but they also serve the purpose if you are reading purely for pleasure or interest. We cannot underestimate the work of Warren Wiersbe in producing this great series over many years. Any avid reader of the bible should have one of these commentaries nearby when studying/reading.Highly recommended!
