Kim Richmond is a 5’0” sassy blonde bombshell with a love of vintage dresses and killer heels. She is also a woman on the edge of losing her mind after her boyfriend cancels their holiday again. Accepting a two-week trip to the south of France courtesy of her best friend is the just what she needs. Staying at the five-star luxury Sapphire Hotel and Spa is like a dream come true. That is, until it all comes crashing down.

Helene DuBois has been dumped again! The cosmos really has it out for her, well that’s how she sees it. There’s only one thing for it, she needs a holiday. A break away from her messy life. Sun, sea, scuba diving and absolutely NO women. A trip to Saint Tropez should do the trick. Rest and relaxation with no drama, perfect! What could go wrong? Seeing Kim Richmond sobbing in the hotel lobby would be one clue. Offering to share her suite with the blonde beauty would be the second.

Title: Stellar Sapphic Summer Romance
Review: "Diving Into Her" by Alyson Root is a stellar getaway novel, offering readers a chance to escape to the sun-soaked beaches of Saint Tropez while diving into a steamy and heartfelt romance. This is the second installment in "The French Connection" series, and it’s a delightful continuation that delivers on all fronts—whether you’re here for the romance, the setting, or the irresistible characters.Kim Richmond is a sassy, vintage-loving bombshell in desperate need of a break from her life’s disappointments, while Helene DuBois is just as desperate to avoid any more romantic entanglements after yet another heartbreak. When these two women’s paths cross at the luxurious Sapphire Hotel and Spa, their lives take an unexpected turn. What starts as a generous offer from Helene to share her suite quickly evolves into something more as the two navigate their growing attraction in the midst of their own personal turmoil. One of the highlights of this novel is Root’s writing. Her ability to bring Saint Tropez to life is nothing short of magical. From the luxury of a five-star hotel to the thrill of sailing on a mega yacht and the serenity of scuba diving, the setting is every vacation dream come true. Root captures the essence of these experiences, making it easy for readers to feel like they are right there with Kim and Helene. The characters themselves are wonderfully crafted. Kim and Helene’s friends-to-lovers journey is both sweet and steamy, with plenty of moments that will have you rooting for their happily ever after. The exploration of a first-time relationship with a woman, especially within a femme/femme dynamic, is handled with care and authenticity. The presence of Sam and Anna from the first book, with their ongoing HEA, adds a lovely continuity to the series, making it a treat for returning readers.Root doesn’t shy away from deeper themes, either. The novel touches on the impact of addiction through a side character, adding an emotional layer that enriches the story without overshadowing the romance. It’s a thoughtful inclusion that shows how addiction affects not just the individual but also their loved ones. The steamy scenes in "Diving Into Her" are exactly that—steeeeeeamy. Root knows how to build tension and deliver on the heat, making this a must-read for fans of sizzling romance. On the audio front, Lilla Green continues to do a great job with her narration. The little extras, like sound effects during texting or changes in sound when characters are on the phone, add a unique touch that enhances the listening experience. Green’s ability to give distinct voices to each character also adds depth to the story, making it even more engaging."Diving Into Her" is a wonderful addition to "The French Connection" series, offering a wonderful blend of romance, personal growth, and escapist fantasy. Whether you’re a fan of friends-to-lovers stories, steamy sapphic romances, or just in need of a mental vacation, this book is sure to satisfy. I’m eagerly looking forward to the next installment and more from Alyson Root.

Title: communication is key
Review: This is another story about unexpected events triggering the start of something new. I like how somehow, the characters took a tiny bit of time to really get to know each other. But all the heartache could have been prevented if things have been discussed, easier said than done, I know! Been there, done that. The story is a sweet read. Not too angsty, not too dramatic, just enough spice and one in a million possibility.

Title: Expect the unexpected.
Review: I am happily becoming a big fan of Alyson Root. As she did so well in "A Dance Towards Forever", Book 1 in the series, she has the uncanny ability to quickly draw you into her stories. She uses great dialogue and immersive descriptions to make you feel part of the action taking place. As an example, I know nothing about Scuba diving, but the author made it so interesting and easy to understand, that I would be tempted to try it. Of course, having Helene as the teacher would make it even better.I totally adored Helene and Kim; they are so much fun together. I just couldn't stop laughing at their antics. The scene in the lobby? Well, that was unexpected and so original. This is what makes Alyson Root a great storyteller. As in all new relationships there are misunderstandings, miscommunication, and insecurities which caused some angst, but with a little help from their family and friends they overcame their issues on their journey to forever. I loved their appearance at Sam and Anna's wedding. It's such a nice touch when author's include characters from previous books in a series.I am a big fan of giving characters their own arc's. It's so much better knowing what each one is thinking and feeling. It also shows the authors' ability to understand and convey both sides of a relationship. All in all, this is a nicely paced and well written love story. The characters are sensual, tender and funny. All the things you want them to be. Pure perfection Alyson, just pure perfection.

When he cancels another get away with her, she’s had enough. Her best friend gives her a week at a beach resort. Review: ‘Diving into Her’ is a beautifully written follow up to ‘A Dance Towards Forever’ & features as the MCs Kim & Helene, two of the supporting characters from that first novel.Needing to take a break from Paris and what was becoming a toxic relationship with her long term boyfriend, Kim escapes to a stylish St Tropez hotel for a week or so. An unfortunate mix up with the booking leaves Kim without a roof over her head & on the verge of tears when who should walk into her life but Helene, someone she knows from Paris, where they had came into contact occasionally through their jobs. Helene herself had escaped to the South of France to try and get over her latest in a long line of failed romances. Helene kindly offers Kim the opportunity to share her suite of rooms, purely out of friendship of course, and not because she was immediately attracted to the breathtakingly beautiful ‘blonde bombshell’. Helene knew Kim was ‘straight’ and in a heteronormative relationship, so was obviously completely out of bounds on both counts. And anyway, she had sworn herself off forming any further romantic attachments until her heart had time to heal…hadn’t she?Whilst it includes a raft of common lesfic tropes & dramas, none of them feel cliched in this really enjoyable sequel. New characters are introduced into the series, some nice, some not so, but there are plenty of callbacks to characters from book one to make this a seamless continuation of the story, including Anna & Sam’s wedding. I look forward to enjoying book 3 in the very near future.

Review: After the story of Sam and Anna, we now focus on their friends, Hélène and Kim. Now these characters are really the best. Kim is such a firecracker, and Hélène a total boss bitch, and I loved them both. I greatly enjoyed this very much *not* slow burn, which does happen sometimes in reality and isn't really reflected that often in romance novels. I also loved the whole scenery of the book, especially the parts about diving. However, the whole central conflict and 3rd act brakeup felt entirely staged. With everything that happened before in terms of self-reflection and communication between the characters, it felt so out of place, I had to put the book down for a few hours just to wonder wtf happened.I know, some people enjoy the 3rd act breakup or at least some serious drama, but - not like this. Honestly, the struggles the couple had to overcome together touched on in the epilogue would have made for a much better 3rd act than this hot mess. Even the resolution felt kind of strange because the conflict made so little sense in the first place. So, while I greatly enjoyed the characters and liked the majority of the story a lot, I hope to find future books by Alyson a tad less focused on "the formula" of a classic romance plot, and more on just going with the flow of her characters. Still very much looking forward to book 3 and Charlie's story!

Review: Love how the characters come with their own archs. This adds depth to the story especially when it comes to relatable themes like distance in relationships, reduction, career ambitions, parenting, counseling and mental health. Truly this book is like a warm hug

Review: A nice HEA story, and a good continuation of the last. Unfortunately the immature stupidity of the main character was yet again the main source of the drama/conflict in this story, and I really wish authors would stop using that sort of drama as a crutch, especially when they already did it in the first book. Am I actually going to get something new in the third part, or should I just not bother. All around, a good book and enjoyable. Just frustrating beyond reason. Would still recommend, I guess.
