Title: Highly Recommended
Review: I travel to Quebec and Montreal several times per year on business. I am usually with my local sales representative that speaks French and helps me out, but I would really like to be more proficient on my own. I have been using Duolingo for the past year and have practiced every single day for the past 300+ days. I have been surprised at how well the Duolingo app has helped me learn quite a bit of French, but this book has really helped me organize my thoughts and actually become a better French speaker. I have enjoyed the audio as it is presented in the Kindle version of this book.It is hard to explain, but Duolingo has made me a very proficient French reader, but the way this book is organized, it has helped me in formulating sentences. My biggest struggle with learning French has been being able to think quickly enough ( en français) to actually be able to speak to someone without looking like an idiot. This is a big struggle if you are not in an immersive environment that forces you to pick it up quickly. I have found this book to be quite helpful in organizing my thoughts. I currently use this book along with Duolingo (great app) and I watch movies and listen to radio stations in French. I plan to start skyping with native French speakers that are learning English also very soon (there are many websites that connect people). Finally, this book is definitely worth the price of purchase (especially the Kindle version).***********************************************************************************************************************************************I rely on reviews when I make purchases so I put a lot of time into reviewing everything I buy on Amazon for personal and my business. Title: French
Review: I learnt french up to year 12 at high school and loved it so wanted to revise that knowledge with a view to making a trip to France in a year or two. I have found both written and oral information very useful and would certainly recommend it to others.

Title: I Purchased "New" but was given a"Used" book. This Book is Still Helpful Though
Review: Update/Edited Review (2011):Now it is 2011 and I am alreadyin my A1.2 lessons for French. We use a different book at l'Alliance Française for our lessons but I still double check with this book whenever I have questions or would like to have extra learning. It is a good reference and supplemental book at the same time.Check out the images within the book's pages I am sharing. My first review is below (2009):The first chapter of the book has all red pen underlines which is really annoying considering I paid for a "new" book. I just let it pass as I live in Europe and it is too much for me to return such purchase. I think I'll live with this second-hand book. I think I'll just purchase a new one with a CD... Learning French without a CD is futile. I thought this one has CD too considering the German and Spanish versions have. It's my fault when I did not examine it closely when I was ordering. The delivery was so quick though. I was expecting it to be delivered around last week ofJanuary but I think before 2009 ended, it was already here in Netherlands! Very quick delivery!

Title: Doesn't work on Kindle for PC, and it's a lousy book for beginners
Review: Bought this book specifically because it is "enhanced". It turns out the PC version of kindle doesn't play sound. It would have been nice if they'd said that somewhere in their advertising. It would be even better if they fixed kindle for PC to play audio.P.S. I bought a paperback copy of the book and found it nearly incomprehensible. For example, there is a long section in which the authors compare various shades of meaning in about twelve idioms -- without ever translating them! And there are numerous long, complex sentences filled with grammatical terms, again, without examples and where simple examples would serve. Maybe it's a good book for someone who took French in school, but I couldn't make heads or tails of it, and I've been studying with other books and online for two years.

Title: French or Brazilian Portuguese?
Review: The exercises in this book are dependent on the CD which is unfortunate because the sealed CD in my copy is in Brazilian Portuguese. It is, therefore, impossible to use much of it. However, the French grammar explanations are quite good and for that I give it two stars. Overall then, it’s a waste of time since there are better books to be had.

Review: I am using this book in addition to learning French using the DuoLingo (free) software. So far, I'm really enjoying it.For the price, I think this is definitely worth checking out. I really appreciate that their is an audio component available with each lesson, to actually hear the words and phrases. Something that is invaluable for learning any language and usually lacking with eBooks and books of this kind.According to DuoLingo,I am at 26% fluency for French at this point after working with their software for about a month. Hopefully this book will help to speed up the process! I already have plans to learn another language after this one. It's kind of addictive but in a good way. A great way to give your brain a workout too. :-)Recommended!Geraldine Helen Hartman, author of: Laughing AT the Grim Reaper! Gems of Wisdom for Aging Well

Review: Ce livre me semble bien conçu. Tout est bien expliqué. Je l'ai offert à quelqu'un qui souhaite apprendre le français et je dois dire qu'il s'en sort très bien. Il est content de ce livre dommage que je n'arrive pas à me procurer la version Grammaire.

Review: I have been using this book at a seniors' centre and the participants love it. They especially like the CD which lets them practice when they wish. The grammar is clear and the vocabulary is good for adults who want to talk about everyday matters.

Review: It is a good book regarding its price. The first 3 or 4 chapters are very good. Later on in the book, there are too less example sentences. It more like a grammar list and new words list. If you read this book with other books, it is OK. If you only follow this book, it is hard to remember all the grammars and the words without put them in sentences.
