The untold stories of bravery, triumph, and redemption in the depths of the darkest world war.

Behind the great powers, global military conflict, and infamous battles are more than 100 incredible stories that bring to life the Second World War. During the six years of war were countless little-known moments of profound triumph and tragedy, bravery and cowardice, and good and evil.

These amazing and unbelievable stories of brotherhood, redemption, escape, and civilian courage shed new light on the war that gripped the entire world. Experience the action through the eyes of people like:

Lieutenant Jacob Beser, who was aboard both the Enola Gay and Bock's Car and felt the force of the shockwave that nearly destroyed the planes after dropping the H-bombs that obliterated Hiroshima and Nagasaki.Professor William Miller, who collapsed during a death march of POWs in Germany and was saved by the same man who had rescued him from what would have been a fatal car wreck in Pennsylvania five years earlier. The brave civilians who answered the British Admiralty's call to help rescue an army from Dunkirk during the height of a dangerous battle and sailed small fishing boats into relentless German fire, ultimately saving 335,000 men from

This is the perfect book for any history buff looking for the untold stories of military and civilian daring during World War 2.

Title: you are guaranteed to come away from Best Little Stories with a broader view than you had ...
Review: If you're interested in WWII, this book is a don't-miss. Even though some of the stories are amateurishly written, all of them are interesting. And, more important, previously untold. I grew up during the war and have read and viewed everything I could about it ever since. But despite my broad knowledge of it, I had not heard more than a couple of the stories in this book. No matter how well-read you are on the war, you are guaranteed to come away from Best Little Stories with a broader view than you had before.

Title: Good reading and very enjoyable
Review: Some very good stories in this book. Some of the information covered things that isn't covered in history, or has been covered up. Most of the stories dealt with the war in Europe and I would have liked more on the Pacific Theater.

Title: As Important Now as 70 years ago.
Review: A great collection of meaningful and historically important but little understood stories of World War II. These stories bring the War into the personal realm of understanding the sacrifices and acts of individuals instead of the abstract actions of armies and navies. This book is well researched and has been reviewed and updated with new tales. I would highly recommend this book for those who are World War II historians and also to those who want to know more about the most significant conflict in world history. It helps provide a connection between the people of that time, the people of today, and how that War still influences decision-making among world leaders, especially the reactions of the United States to current events.

Title: BRAVE
Review: We must never forget World War II and the evil of the land at the time. This book is a breath, a treat to read of our Brave Men and Women as well as those from other countries who also 'Fought the Good Fight' for us. Many of us have several in our families who were in WWII, Korea, and Nam. This WWII stories show our Men and Women who were in for the duration. No pass out unless you were shot. Brave is not enough to title them or my remarks.

Review: It's an easy read. Perfect if you only have a few minutes while you're waiting for something else. It's the side of history you probably aren't aware of. This collection of short stories really makes you stop & think, puts history in a different context. Very entertaining & informational!

Review: I like that these stories are not only short but widely varied, little snapshots of War in Europe and the Far East. Stories from all sides. It was not easy to put this book at times, reading about heroics, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, desperation, sacrifice and more. There were stories behind the story and I enjoyed this book very much.

Title: Definitely Not Mainstream Short Stories
Review: An excellent compilation of short stories from a number of publications. They combine stories from many perspectives - United States, Britain, Germany, and Japan. Definitely not things you would read in the mainstream history books. I interspersed reading form this book (usually 5% at a time) with reading longer works to get variety.
