Title: Murphy is A Funny Dog!
Review: My three year old repeatedly asks to read about Murphy. We've recently stumbled upon this author and really enjoy her other works, as well.We love the illustrations and realistic description of Murphy's antics.The only negative thing I can say, is that in one of the beginning pages, Murphy refers to another dog and cat that live in the barn as "dumb" and says it a couple of times. I realize it's not a bad word, but it's still not how we personally choose to describe animals in our house. So when reading aloud to my son, I just change the word from "dumb" to "silly", i.e. "silly cat, Tom and silly hound dog."Overall, it's wonderful and is in our nightly bedtime story rotation.

Title: Our favorite book
Review: We LOVE this book.Even my husband, who is NOT a dog person, loves this book.Most important, of course, my 2 and a half year old loves it. We got this book when she was about a year old and it quickly became her favorite. And ours, too.The pictures are adorable and slightly quirky; I get tired of the pastel cartoony animals in children's books; too much cutesy, I guess. This book was a nice change of pace.The vocabulary is great, with lots of new words for kids to learn and GREAT descriptive, colorful language. It's a lively and entertaining read with fun use of literary devices.This is a book that is just plain fun to read.

Title: If you own a Cairn Terrier.....
Review: This is a delightful little book that should be read by anyone who has ever known a Cairn Terrier and, come to think of it, anyone who knows someone who has. I bought it for our Vet's office to have on the shelf for children who come in with their pets. It is the most revealing review of the breed I have ever read. She captures the mind of these wonderful creatures right down to the last sniff and the illustrations are priceless. Just fun!

Title: Funny and great illustrations
Review: So sweet and funny! My kids beg to read this with me and pretend to be Murphy in their play during the day. We are not a dog adoring family so that says a lot about how adorable Murphy-stop-that is!

Title: A must for dog lovers and terrier owners!
Review: This is one my favorite picture books! As a book lover, a librarian who wants to pass love of reading on to students, as dog lover, and a terrier owner, this is one of the truest stream-of-consciousness storytelling ever told. Murphy the terrier tells the story of a day in his silly, silly life, and he couldn't be funnier or more precious! The accompanying illustrations compliment the text well.

Title: Lively sweet book!
Review: I bought this book for my 3 year old son but my 7 year old and 9 year old also LOVED this book. The Provesnsen books are always so lively, engaging, and filled with every day humour and a sense of the ridiculous. The kids all love looking at the drawings and imagining for themselves further adventures of Murphy and farm life. All the animals have strong and eccentric characters. Wholesome with a twinkling intelligence throughout.
