Review: Reading all the descriptions and reviews I realize one thing. What the heck is this thing?There are several devices for sale that perform different tasks.You'll see a wireless android/apple adapter. These allow you to connect your phone to the car wirelessly. but only with a reduced set of "Driving safe" apps.You'll see bluetooth transmitters/receivers. These let you play music or talk using your car's stereo system.This device is none of the above. It just allows you to connect to your car using an HDMI cable.Anything you have that outputs using HDMI can display to your car. Easiest thing that comes to mind is a laptop.You can buy an HDMI output cable for your phone that will work with this.The device itself uses the car's Apple Play feature. But you do not have to have an Apple Phone. You don't even need bluetooth or WiFi. The Apple Play is between the device and your car.Some people mention that they get a pure black screen when connecting. There are several causes for this but it can be fixed with a firmware update. I don't recommend you perform a firmware update as that's always a hassle, just return it instead.The box has a USB port on it that is really just for emotional support (and firmware updating) and has no real use. I first tried inserting a usb stick filled with movies and it did nothing.Lastly, I want to mention that this thing does not bypass your car's safety features. You can't watch a movie while driving.

Title: Works quite well in my 2021 F-150
Review: Took me a while of fiddling with this before I could get it to work. The provided instructions are only mildly adequate.Here's what I learned for my specific set up. Once you've gotten past the initial set up of the device (which incorporates connecting your phone to it to set it up and update it, if needed), I needed to find the device in my audio list. When I select this device, I then get prompted to connect the stereo to this device instead of my phone.When that is done, this device will show up on the screen. Then it's just a matter of having something connected to the HDMI port of this streaming device. I tried my old Amazon Firestick as well as a USB-C to HDMI cord to connect my phone directly and was successful with both.Again, the lack of clear instructions (beyond the initial set up) is a bit frustrating and the fact that this device is referred to as "Carplay" just added to my initial concerns of getting this to work. Nonetheless, this does work for my Android phone and plays well through my 2021 F-150 12" display. Started watching a Transformers movie on it via Netflix and sound came through beautifully in the factory system.

Title: This works, it actually works
Review: I’m not going to lie, I was a little skeptical about purchasing a device like this. I have been searching for some piece of tech that will allow me to watch my streaming services on my cars big 12-inch screen. I have a young one at home and thought this will be a great way to keep him occupied on road trips. So, I decided to give this item a try and let me say it blew my mind. I didn’t expect it to work as easy as it did. You basically just plug and play. This adapter will let you use your cars display to watch everything on your firestick, chrome cast, even a gaming console. All you have to do is connect the fire stick you’re your mobiles hot spot or if your car has its own hot spot and your good to go. The great part of this device is that its very small and can hide it very easy and just have to plug it into your cars usb port that you would use for your wired apple carplay or android auto. The fire stick and its power source both plug into this adapter. The quality of the adapter seems to be pretty solid and it comes with all the adapters and a manual for quick and easy setup. Just make sure you read the description, there are a few car models they say this wont work for. I’m using mine a ford and it works perfectly fine.

Title: It works!
Review: I recently bought a new car with a big infotainment screen in the front. When I'm driving my grandbabies, they like to watch the screen, so I thought this Car TV Mate might be a good idea. I plugged the unit into my USB port in the car and plugged my roku into it. It immediately started working. It was literally plug and play. My granddaughter was able to use the Roku remote to choose the shows she wanted to watch during our drive. This was a perfect addition to our road trips.I tried using my Motorola phone, but apparently it does not allow video out through USB. If you have a Samsung or iPhone, this will probably work for you, but not every phone is compatible. Keep in mind that you'll need a Wi-Fi source for the Roku or fire stick.

Title: This could have been great...
Review: This could have been great, however, it doesn't operate as expected. The part that converts your Carplay to streaming TV or Youtube , or other streaming seems to work well. With the minor hiccup of trying to connect to a Fire Stick and then the Fire Stick to your phone, and so on, not entirely intuitive, but was able to get it done. It worked great, with very low lag or latency. However, and this it the thing that kept it from being usable for me, it would not connect wirelessly to my car stero and give my CarPlay.The ability to stream things on my car stereo is a nice have but not a necessary have. CarPlay is a necessary have, as I spend more time driving and need the services it provides. I'm sorry this doesn't do what it says it does, but could see that someone who didn't care about wireless CarPlay could have a use for it, unfortunately, that is not me.
