Title: Great Book To Add Variety to Lunch
Review: I have to say this is quite possibly one of the best collections of lunch ideas I have seen. I pack lunches for 2 of my four kids. Of course, these are my two pickiest. One is 17 and the other is 10. I have very few ideas of my own that they will eat. The 17yo is getting easier but I still have been at a loss on variety. The 10yo wants more variety, but when I ask, he wants things that he only wants hot and won't pack well when hot (like fish sticks - bleck!) because they will get mushy. In most cookbooks or collections of meal ideas, I'm lucky if I like 10% of the recipes. I don't branch off the norm too well myself, but much more open than these two kids. I would estimate that I find a good 75% or more recipes in this book that I would like, and I think these two kids would like many of them as well. There are several recipes for breakfast on the go, cold lunches, hot lunches, leftovers lunches, smoothies, and snacks on the go. There is a good variety of ingredients. Several also have notes for prep, serving suggestions, and ingredient substitutions. The recipes are excellent for those who want to use all organic ingredients, and for those like me who have very limited options in the area where I live. There are also recipes to make a healthier, homemade version of the processed stuff, such as chocolate syrup. A few weekly meal plans are included at the end to use as an example. And one of the things I absolutely love is the chart at the end. It lists all of the recipes, has blank stars to rate how well you like it, a box to indicate any notes regarding the recipe (such as ingredient substitutions, who likes the recipe, etc.) and a place to mark if you wish to make this recipe again. There is also a section at the beginning on ideas for packing lunches. The format is very easy to read. The recipes are well spread out, some photos of recipes are included, and the book overall is very visually appealing.Laura herself was also very helpful. I know very little about how flours react in a recipe, other than your basic white flour. One recipe that I really want to try called for almond flour. I know nothing about it's texture or how it performs, but I have a child with a tree nut allergy and know that I can't use it. I emailed her through her blog and she was able to answer my question on a substitution.I would definitely recommend this book for anyone needing some help with variety in school lunches. There are plenty of recipes here that can help in pretty much any situation. The recipes are fairly simple. And the recipes are not just for kids. I'm looking forward to making many of them for me to take to work.

Title: My most favorite family friendly food manual by far!
Review: As I'm sitting here sipping my hot and delicious hazelnut coffee I felt I should take a moment to write a review because I was super excited that I received my personalized and autographed book plate yesterday in the mail and now I can add it to my book which I've had for a few weeks now! Woohoo! I know from reading Laura's blog and website (I've been following MOMables for over a year now) that she is getting them out as fast as she can because she is hand writing each and every bookplate and hand writing the addresses on the envelope. This takes TIME but I'm so appreciative that Laura is doing this because it shows she cares :-).On to the book review - although I have NOT had the opportunity to try any recipes yet I am excited to get started. My children fall into the category of most parents that have picky eaters but my husband and I have agreed that it is time to toss the junk and go back to a more wholesome diet that will leave us feeling full and refreshed knowing that what we just ate will be chock full of good essential vitamins, minerals and overall wholesome and nutritious ingredients instead of all the additives from the processed stuff that has NO benefit for our bodies. I absolutely feel that although Laura has entitled her book "The Best Homemade KIDS' Lunches On The Planet" I personally plan to make these recipes for the WHOLE family to enjoy. They look delicious and I can't wait to really dig in!I've read the other comments and I feel the 4-5 star reviews pretty much sum it up for me but one thing I haven't read yet from the other reviewers is about the paper quality. It's AWESOME! If any of you, who are like me and actually plan to use your cookbook - wink 😉 wink -you'll appreciate the thickness of the pages. Why, do you say? As a book that will sit on your counter surrounded by lots of different ingredients everyday, week after week, you will be pleased to know the pages of the book will withstand the wear and tear of continuous use. No flimsy pages that will rip or absorb liquid like a paper towel here. It's nice and sturdy and will sit perfectly right there on your counter propped up next to the canister filled with Laura's "White Chocolate Chip Cookies" (pg 212) beckoning you to grab one or two with a glass of ice cold milk and start flipping through the pages of pure deliciousness!I highly recommend this book and know it is a KEEPER so don't delay, be sure and buy your book today! Title: Solid Cookbook, Solid Recipes
Review: I will preface by saying I have two very picky eaters, so I am constantly on the look-out for things, especially relatively healthy things, that they will eat. And this book more than delivers! The ideas in here are fantastic, and almost everything I have tried out of this book is a hit. There are definitely some things in here my kids will never eat, but that doesn't mean yours won't. And, not gonna lie, there are quite a few things in here that I make for myself as much as for them. (Chicken cordon bleu pasta? Yes, please!) This book has been a great resource in helping me build up a supply of recipes my kids will eat, most of which can be pre-made and frozen for easy lunch-packing on a busy school morning. I didn't know this author had a website when I bought this book, but the website has become one I visit often as well. There are two reasons I didn't give this book five stars. First, I wish it had more pictures. There are a few, but not many. Second, some of the recipes contain a lot more sugar than I am comfortable with. One example being a "candy apple sandwich" that is caramel, peanut butter, and apples on bread. I don't see a good reason to add caramel to peanut butter as a sandwich filling. Another example is a cream cheese sandwich using blueberry bread (think: banana bread - definitely more a dessert than a bread), but it's easy to just not make those recipes. Despite those minor quibbles, overall, this is a fantastic book with easy to make, solidly kid-friendly recipes.

Review: I just got my book (just in time before school starts). I haven't tried the recipes yet but there are many that sound delicious and absolutely doable.Almost with every recipe Laura gives tips and tricks on how to pack the lunch so it doesn't get soggy or to warm or cold during the day and there are many pictures of ready-to-go lunchboxes so you get an idea on how it can look. On the other hand the recipes and pictures aren't intimidating but look easy to make. In addition you get a bunch of dinner ideas and the left overs get used for the next lunch. With two children in school it will definitely be my go to cook book for the months (or years) ahead!
